The Bahamian Rum Runners! May 18, 2012 - 5 Nights on the Magic!

What time r u going to be there? Hopefully we'll be on one of the first busses over from the airport so we might miss u

Does anyone know what time the buses start running from the airport?? I know we get in at 10:37 a.m. We were going to try to buy a bottle of rum and head straight to the Magical Express!

I think the first bus leaves around 10 and then every 10-15 minutes after that. But boarding doesn't begin until about 1pm.

A kindred spirit! My BA is in history and I was working on a doctorate in adult education and history before 9/11 derailed me and I never finished.

I'm hoping to go for a doctorate in history. I apply to the education program next semester and hopefully will get in, in which case i am about 2 1/2 years away from my BA. I'm also minoring in spanish so that's adding some more time.

I'd like to teach at the university level, but if that doesn't work out high school would be great as well. I just really want to inspire kids like my history teachers did for me, if i can get just one kid to be more interested in history, all this schooling will be worth it!

Trying to figure out when i have time to pack....:headache::headache::headache: i have NO TIME. One week left of school and then i have to work A LOT...Let's just say I'm feeling the stress.

I broke down and ordered a fish extender..she gave me a discount because i didn't want it customized and only asked for one pocket but i'm excited to have one!

I'm hoping about 11 to 11.30 if goes well. I'd rather wait at the terminal than in a hotel room.

Bill the Banana:banana:, we will see you there! We're hoping for the same time and bringing PADisneyFan (Amy) and her family with us. See ya there!

7 Days. :hyper: At this time next week, we will be on a plane headed to Orlando.

Vero Beach, Old Key West Resort at Disney, Disney Magic with you folks then an extra day at Kidani. I'm so excited!:cloud9:

Wow, we've been so busy that I have not had time to catch up on this thread. I'll have to do that today. In the mean time it's 2 weeks until we leave for our trip. :cool1:

I thought they started boarding at noon now. We are staying at the Hyatt the night before, so we will be down at the cruise desk as soon as they open to catch the first bus!!

So excited and now Avengers will be playing too. Key West, Avengers, good food, sunshine, warm temps, Castaway Cay, Avengers and then 4 days at Disney World afterwards. This is going to be AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!

So... not to be a worry wart... but I just decided to go read the end of the message boards from the April 25th sailing. Not only did they get rain (not too worried about that)... but it seems a LOT of people got ill. :( Not sea sick... they had a bug going around on the ship. Now I think I'll be packing extra anti bacterial wipes and really disinfecting the room when we get there. (I know the room stewards to a great job...) but it will make me feel better. :/

Here is praying for perfect weather and a healthy cruise!

I just read about that too. I know they do a good job of disinfecting, but like you we wipe everything down with Clorox wipes. It really comes down to making sure the room is clean and then just keeping your hands washed or sanitized. I read about people refusing the disinfecting wipes, unless you're allergic everyone should be using these for their health and everyone one elses. My wife and I both just got done with sinus infections. I've still got a couple of days of antibotics to take. Better now then on the trip I say. Hopefully, we won't encounter any of the illness that the April 25th group did. I'm sure Disney did some extra cleaning as long as they were aware of it.

As for the weather, I'm always worried about that. My wife always tells me to think postive and it will work out. So I think that's exactly what I'll do.

So I have a QOTD if that's okay with everyone... :goodvibes
Well, two questions actually...

1. How are you getting to the cruise? Planes, trains, automobiles... what's the plan?

2. Who's the planner in your family and how crazy of a planner is that person?

:cool1::woohoo::banana:21 Days!! :cool1::woohoo::banana:

1. We are flying out of Milwaukee on May 17th and staying at the Hyatt. We will be taking the Disney buses to the port.

2. My wife and I are both extreme planners. When we go on vacation we make a binder with everything we would need to reference. In fact we would love to be travel agents. Part of the fun of the trip is planning it. We believe that by doing a lot of good planning it allows us to have the best trip possible.

I read something about a gathering and a Facebook page. Can someone pass that info along please

I have a couple of questions if you dont mind, i asked on the facebook page but i figured i'd ask here as well:

QOTD:
1. Who is going to the 3pm meetup:banana:
2. Who else is dressing up for pirate nightpirate:

we will be there and Zander and I are!

1. We are going to try to make it.

2. Other than the bandana, probably not.

As you guys know, we are getting off of the ship and going to Kidani for one more day of Disney fun after we cruise. What I figured out was that we can get one more day in the parks and are doing that instead of Wanyama safari.

What I realized is that this opens up up for Illiminations cruise. See Illuminations from a boat on the water at EPCOT

This cruise has room for 12 and we're only 4. Anyone else intersted?

I'm keeping this quiet from Jon so don't tell on Facebook!

Hi Everyone!

I just found this and thought I would join in! We will also be on the May 18th "rum runner" cruise! It will be me (Jenna), my hubs (Tony) and our little guy (TJ - 11 months! :scared1:). We are also doing Disney for three days after the cruise. I can't wait! I am also equally excited that so many on the cruise share our love for all things rum and tropical...lol.

Hopefully we get good weather! Anyone know what time the desk opens at the airport? Our flight gets in at 10:15am...

Is there an additional cost over the Epcot ticket?

almost time!

Is there an additional cost over the Epcot ticket?

Yes, I've been quoted 350. The cost is the same if there are 4 or 8 people on the boat. Its much less than the Wanyama safari we had booked and cancelled. I was looking for a special experience with Taylor since she will be missing the Pirates and Pals voyage. When I called to ask if they offered the Pirates and Pals voyage on a night Taylor was in Disney with us, they told us about this.

You meet at Beach Club at 8 PM and they take you around the with drinks (no rum!) and snacks before parking in a place where you can see Illuminations perfectly. The reviews on DIS are good.

So I looked on the DIS boards and often there's "boat sharing"...

PM me if you're interested.

If anyone has been trying to get reservations at Palo for dinner via their online booking - It has opened up a few slots for 8:30 pm on embarkation day. Just a little FYI. We are booked for that time, but I just went to see if other times were available, the same one popped up again. I wasn't able to get in for the past three weeks, so I wanted to share! :)

We we're able to book the last night, thanks for the heads up

3 Days until we leave.:goodvibes

I'm so excited. I'm even mostly packed!

Our plans have changed a bit since we first booked so I wanted to give the update. Let me know if I have any holes in our plan!

5/10 - 2 Bedroom Villa at Disney Vero Beach. :beach:We celebrate my in-laws 65th wedding anniversary with a group of 9 people. (It would have been 10 but Taylor DD19 won't join us until after she gets her first class under her belt). We have dinner reservations at Sonya's on the 12th. I ordered the cake to be delivered then. On Saturday morning, we have breakfast with Goofy booked. I cannot believe we will NOT be there for the Pirates party.pirate: OH - I hope Jon remembers the 13th is Mothers Day. I know I gave him the number to the Vero spa back in December!

5/14 - 1 Bedroom Villa at Old Key West. That evening, we booked the Pirates and Pals voyage to watch Wishes from the lake in front of the Magic Kingdom (this was supposed to be a secret but I slipped - Mackenzie DD10 still doesn't know though):thumbsup2

5/16 - Taylor joins us at Disney!:grouphug:

5/18 - We board and meet you fine people. :woohoo:

5/23 - Kidani Village for the "extra" day. I have the EPCOT Illuminations cruise booked for this evening but I'm not sure if we'll do it.:scratchin Then on the 24th before we fly home, I booked the 1900 at Floridian lunch. Taylor loves Alice in Wonderland (even before the Tim Burton version) so it should be great for her.

Am I missing anything? "MostlyMellessMay" here at work. My brain is already on vacation.:yay:
