Love the photos and the mouse ears. I actually bought a pair of those thinking one of my two sons would either get married at Disney or honeymoon there. No such luck, DS1 got married in Colorado and honeymooned in Mexico. DS2 is getting married in St. Thomas. I think I will keep them and DH and I will wear them on our 35th anniversary to Disney (4 years from now).

I am new to the boards, but we are extremely excited about our upcoming cruise. I am sailing with my husband, 2 sons (10 and 12) and daughter (5). My girlfriend and her family are also coming (husband, son (8) daugher (7). This will be there first cruise and our second Disney cruise!

Ok so I'm quoting myself, that's lame, but...

In 2010 we went down for the Penn State Capitol One Bowl game, and decided to stay in Disney while in Orlando. It was a thrown-together trip, but we had a blast... and during the New Years' fireworks at MK I got the best gift ever!

Jason couldn't get down on one knee... he would have easily been killed by a stroller or wheelchair, since it was New Year's Eve. A wonderful cast member took this for me (after I shoved the camera in his face) to capture the moment, stupid plastic hat and all.


In 2011, after deciding not to get married here in Myrtle, we went back for our Disney Fairy Tale Wedding and 10-day honeymoon!

Whoa... that is awesome! So you two really are still newlyweds.

Wow favorite Disney memory..... not sure I can pick just one. But I can pick a favorite trip.

It was June of 2001..

It was our first experience staying in a deluxe resort. We stayed 10 nights in a courtyard view room at the Wilderness Lodge. Our girls were 7 and 11 that year.

Each and every day - something happened that was magical and unexpected. It was the perfect trip. Our first day we were in the back of Exposition Hall - just walking around, exploring and Pinocchio and two of other characters from the movie came out. There was only one other family back there so we had some amazing interaction with them. It was also our first time to be allowed to ride in the front of the monorail, our girls were chosen to be the "conductors" on at the train station on Main Street, we were chosen to ring the bell at Liberty Tree Tavern, and it was the one trip where no one got sick, everyone got along.. no sibling fighting.. we experienced new towel animals every day including an alligator in the bathroom that literally made me scream... it truly was PERFECT.

That was our third trip to WDW. Ian and I had lived with in walking distance of Disneyland for 3 years - but it was that trip back in June of 2001 that made my family fall head over heels in love with Disney. That is also the year we bought into DVC and have never regretted it.

That reminded me of our cruise on the Magic last year.

I made our reservation through DVC and the agent noticed that DW's birthday was shortly after the cruise (mine was a full month afterward so I didn't think much about it as a cruise celebration). She said she'd make a note so DW would get a cake but to keep it secret - which I did.

The first night on the cruise the head waiter came over to confirm her birthday with me and I mentioned that two other ladies at the table shared birthdays the same week as DW. He made a note and the next night they received a very nice (and relatively large) strawberry sponge cake.

The next night DW found a metal object in her soup. The servers, head waiter, and maitre'd were all attentive and very apologetic. Out came the chef, also offering sincere apologies - and presented her with a plate of chocolate covered strawberries.

Our server came over and asked why I didn't eat the cake the night before or the strawberries, and I said because I didn't like strawberries very much.

The next night much to MY surprise out came a chocolate cake for both my birthday and my retirement.

The next night my tablemates were all waiting to see what I would come up with next .... so I whispered to our server to bring out Mickey Bars for everyone, which he did. No one even knew about them so that was a big success as well.

All in all we had a magical and unexpected desert almost every night of the cruise.

Favorite Memory.....
So many great ones.... but my favorite was being met at Beach Club Concierge, where I had booked a preDVC visit as a special treat for 4 days.... we were upgraded to an amazing 2 bedroom suite with a living room and wet bar. The room was gigantic!!!! Much larger than a 2 bedroom villa. The view was of the Boardwalk. It was during the Year of Million Dreams I believe;it was an amazing beginning to a wonderful family vacation.

I had a note made that our youngest DD will turn 19 just 9 days before the cruise. Would be cool if they brought out a cake for her - but NOT strawberry. DH is very allergic to strawberries. (that is also noted on the reservation).

Just double check with your head waiter to remind them of the allergy.

I'm not allergic to strawberries but I used to pick berries as a summer job when I was a teen. Blackberries, raspberries, and boysenberries I could pick standing up, but I had to bend over to pick strawberries and by the end of the 8 or 10 hour day, my back was killing me. To this day strawberries remind me of that and thus my dislike for them.

Well my mom asked me which bathing suit I want and I told her I really couldn't decide but I guess the bikini. I'm hoping for some sort of birthday surprise! The one piece is adorable, black with white polka dots 50's style vintage, and the two piece is the same 50's style vintage but red with white polka dots, so we will see what happens. I plan on starting my running again when I get back from this vacation I'm on now..I started running last year and fell in love, but got injured and was forbidden from running for several months. After I was finally cleared, I started having horrible stomach issues, that I've been dealing with since christmas, and still are only barely under control. (Basically I feel nauseous all the time, and the doctors can't figure out why and no i'm not pregnant!)

Annnyways, favorite disney memory...this is so hard because I've been going since I was 3 years old and I've gone with some great people and had some fantastic memories. I still remember my third birthday eating a hostess cupcake in the hotel room (a tradition we still do every year on my birthday..minus the hotel room). I still pronouce the carosel of progress as the ca - ROO - sil because my grandfather pronounced it wrong. But I think I will narrow it down to two memories that started off really bad, but ended up being awesome.

1) My last trip with my family I ended up getting really sick. Like almost had to go to the hospital with some sort of flu/pneumonia death thing. It was awful! I spent two days in the hotel room and didn't fullly get to enjoy our day at discovery cove. I don't remember ever being that sick since. I always get sick when we go to disney but this was special haha. Our last day we were supposed to go to Magic Kingdom which is one of my favorite parks and I really wanted to go, but I was still feeling poopy. I ended up going but couldn't even walk from the monorail to the car. I had no idea how this was going to work...my mom suggested I get a wheelchair and I felt really bad because it meant everyone would have to wheel me around all day. But we ended up doing that and had a magical, wonderful day. It ended with Wishes, and it was an amazing feeling, after being SO SICK to be able to be with my family and best friend on main street ending our vacation with wishes.

2) This is kind of a long story, that starts off really awful, but ended in one of the best moments i've ever had a disney. This memory happened on my last trip which was about a year and a half ago. This was my second trip with my boyfriend's family and his family friends from England were also along with us. This particular night we had decided to go to Magic Kingdom for extra magic hours. Not really a problem. The problem was the wonderful people I was with did not listen to me, and decided to arrive DURING the parade. I knew it was going to be a disaster the moment we walked in the gates. Main street was PACKED, we couldn't get through anywhere and everyone was starting to loose their patience. My boyfriend's father had recently had knee surgury and was very "grouchy" to put it mildly, and when this family gets grouchy, there is a lot of yelling. It was VERY unpleasant. We finally made our way to fantasy land where we watched Nighttastic but the view was awful and I couldn't follow the story. So far, not so good. We decided after to try and ride some rides but everything was super long and after riding just the haunted mansion, half our group decided to go home.

I told my boyfriend I wasn't tired and I wanted to stay and he said ok, so we stayed along with his brother and his brother's girlfriend. His brother is not the easiest person to get along with at the best of times, so you can just imagine what this was like. We went on the most uncomfortable and awkward ride of Pirates I've ever been on (just imagine riding with someone who is clearly pissed off and does not want to be there) and we shopped a little before deciding we wanted to ride Big Thunder Mountain. Excellent. Just one problem, a parade was coming, and we were in liberty square and had to make it to Fronteirland. This is the point where things turned sour. We did not beat the parade and were forced to wait for it to pass. My boyfriend's brother got really mad. It was late, he was cranky, and he did not want to wait for that parade. At this point i had HAD IT with his family. We were in Disney world! I sat on a wall and said, I'm watching this parade, go home if you want. Well that's exactly what they did.

It was just me and my boyfriend left and about 30 seconds after the other two left, they opened up a crossing to cross into Fronteirland. We rode Big Thunder and it was one of the best rides I've ever been on! (I had never been on at night). We spent the rest of the night just the two of us, having the most amazing time. At about 1:30am (MK closed at 2am) we decided we were tired and it was time to go, but I was also STARVING! Obviously nothing was really open but we managed to find a popcorn cart that told us Casey's was still open. We got a frozen coke from a place in tomorrowland and some corn dog nuggets and ended out the night at quarter to 2 in the morning walking down main street hand in hand sharing our frozen coke and corn dog nuggets. A night that had started out so awful and miserable had turned into an amazing, fun filled, magical, and romantic night.

I still think about that night often, and I'm so upset that Magic Kingdom won't be having an extra magic hour nights the nights we are there. I know I will never be able to recreate that night, but I'd sure like to try!

Whew, cookies for you if you read that whole thing! I'm sorry its so long, but there are so many elements to that story, I had to tell it completely!

I'm off now to do some research, we are trying to decide if we want to go to Nashville or St. Louis tomorrow, and I don't know what there is to do in either so I better look into that!

You have my sympathy on that one. A few years ago we were at WDW and I came down with heat prostration (I get heat exhaustion very easily). As the day progressed I just felt worse and worse (and we have a photo in front of the Castle to prove it). I left mid-afternoon, went back to our room, and slept until the next morning. I returned to the parks the next day but made sure to rest, keep hydrated, and stay in the shade where it was cooler, but it was still a rough time. By the next day I was back to normal but it was not the most fun vacation.

My internet has been out for the past couple of days so I've been out of the loop and just got caught up on our thread.. welcome aboard new people!!

The nametags do sound like a great idea, because I know once we board, all of my thoughts and memories will hopefully be left behind, so a nice nametag reminder would be excellent!

I love the question a day idea! Although, my answer to the first question may be a bit "off" (what's new, I know.... )

Since this trip to WDW and the cruise will be our first disney experience, I'm hoping to make lots of new memories, but for now, all I've got is my Toy Story memories.. I remember the day Toy Story came out, I was 9! I instantly fell in love with the characters and the whole story line, and insisted on having every possible gift for Christmas be a Toy Story gift (which was hard because we were very limited with my parents income at that time) but some how they managed...err..Santa managed to bring me a big Buzz and Woody, and a small Mr Potato Head and Ham figurines. I still have those, some even in the original box, and yes, I still have Woody's hat (because, what's a cowboy without his hat???)

I guess I was so appreciative/enthralled with the fact that I knew we couldn't afford those gifts (I was very mature for my age (if i only had a dollar every time i've heard that) and worried a lot as a child, and still do about every little thing...) that it meant the world to me that they would go through the trouble just to make me happy. Those 4 toys slowly turned in to 15-20 toys, and that collection grew, and just this past Christmas (2011) I was surprised with a giant Bullseye and the ball from the movie. Now I have a "Toy Story Room" (yes, yes, I even have the disney "Buzz Blaster Blue" paint for it) with shelves full of TS memorabilia, and EVERYBODY knows that I'm the TS fanatic and anytime anybody finds anything unique or special with TS on it, they get it for me, and I feel like a 9 year old all over again.

I'm already hoping to figure out when/how we could go on the Wonder to see the TS show they do (and let me add here, DH is not enthralled with TS as I am ) and of course, I've already made some TS magnets for our cabin door And of course, that's how I got my dis user name, because my parents tell us that DH and I look like Mr and Mrs Potato Head from the movie, so if you need a visual of our body type/what we look like, there ya go! Just look for the 2 big potato heads!

Most excited about.... it's not just ONE thing.. it's the entire experience. Our last (and first) cruise was not the magical experience we wanted it to be.. I got sick and our DDs were constantly fighting. They are night and day as far as their personalities.

I am looking forward to cruising and not being sick so I can really enjoy it. I am looking forward to us (especially Emily) being "unplugged" and not being a slave to text messages and so on. I am looking forward to all the beautiful photography opportunities. I am REALLY looking forward to that cabana on Serenity Bay!

Nervous about.... honestly.. I am a bit worried about us not liking the cruise as much as I want us to - and realizing it was not just the cold I came down with and the clashing of the teenagers that made the last cruise less than magical. AND... the real me - is a bit on the shy/wall flower side. So meeting all of you makes me nervous.. yet I am also really looking forward to it.
