First the bad: my DD is entering mid-school in the Fall, and she applied to the best private school in the area. This school takes 140 kids each year, and gets about 600+ applications for those slots. We just knew it would be a great place for my DD. She's gifted but has some learning disabilities. The small classes, wonderful teachers, individual attention, and accelerated curriculum would be perfect. This year, the school was #5 in the nation for average college entrance test scores. It also costs $10,000 a year. Well, she wasn't accepted, much to our disappointment. I keep thinking about things we should have done differently in the application process, and she wants to try again for high school. So, she is heading for public mid-school (which offers a better gifted program than the other private schools in our city), and we have all of our fingers crossed. So, guess what I have in mind for the $$$$ that we won't be spending on tuition? Yep, called my Guide today, should get a return call tomorrow. I'm thinking a 150-170 point add-on at BCV will make us all feel better. You guys got me going, thanks for the info about the incentives ending. Hope to soon be in the 400 point range!

Sorry your daughter didn't get accepted to your school! It's times like these when I try to be positive and think everything happens for a reason...I hope she does GREAT in her new mid school! Nothing like adding on at dvc to make things a little better!!

Good for you, for seeing the silver lining. She'll always remember all the good times she had growing up and going on family vacations. If we had an unexpected windfall, I think we'd do an add-on too. Enjoy!

OK, it's done! Betty just wasn't around, so I asked to speak to someone else and got Julie. Very nice lady, we're signed up for a 170 point add-on. Now just have to decide if we're going to try to do 50% down. Thanks for your kind words. I do believe things happen for a reason, maybe my daughter will get more help for her LD's at the public school. Diana
