The Bacon strikes again! Bouncin' back in Sept! UPDATE: We're back! What a trip! p43

thanks for all the tips! So you like the 3 inch size?

I like the idea of a "peachy" color. They should. I just hope the teeth don't look "peachy" too. I want to be sure they look like teeth, ya know? (and not yellow ones :rotfl2: )

I thought about blue. Ya know, I'll have to try to edit in different colors and see how it looks. I had never even thought about that.

Thanks so much! I think so too! I am so excited!

thanks, I hope they can work it in nicely

I like the size it is, think it is perfect:)

Yeah, yellow teeth :rotfl: Shame they won't do the white for at least the teeth......:goodvibes

Good idea, edit in differen colors and see how they look together

Can't wait to see finished project:)

Day 2, Sept 14th – Magic Kingdom! (our first full day :yay: )

Wake up around 7, because...I want to be at MK before ropedrop at 9:00!
I also hope to try one of those cinnamon buns at the Bakery on Main street! :thumbsup2
RD at Tomorrowland, then hit as much fun stuff as we can before lunch
Have a CS lunch (probably at Cosmic Rays)
I want a dole whip this day!
We probably need a break since we’ll be staying for EMH’s this night. So maybe 2:00ish, back to the room. And back on the bus to MK by 4:30. I guess we’ll take the bus from MK to WL. If we go back early enough we’ll get in some rides before dinner. There’s always the option of taking the car from Pop to WL---I keep forgetting that we’ll have one since the other girls are driving.
ADR – Whispering Canyon Café at 5:40 PM (at WL) - One TS credit
Back to MK for Wishes, and EMH’s! Probably meet up with Carla (Leger13) at some point for her birthday and to give her some Buzz Lightyear pointers so she can beat Chris!

So that's it for Day 2!

Your 2nd day looks great:thumbsup2

Can't ya take a boat to WL from MK? I forget, as it has been awhile. That might be fun, unless you are running late, then bus would be better:)

Carla, Aim for the LARGE Z Battery:thumbsup2

I agree with Nikki, I want to see a pic or video of you riding around on one of the pony Horses:rotfl:

Love the tattoo -- can't comment too much as I don't have any myself but I like it better on the shoulder.

Great Day 2! I wish I was going with ya'll

Plans look great! I cannot wait to try my first Dole Whip this year!:thumbsup2

Cant comment to much on tattoos as I have NONE...Maybe someday Ill get brave and get one LOL- DH has a ton!!!

So, I really would like opinions on a few things:
  • the size of the tattoo
  • the placement of it
  • which shop would YOU choose? (though I think we've already decided on the 2nd one)
  • Should I change the color of the balloons?
  • What do you think about the thing with the teeth vs. snouts?
  • Should I get rid of the loopy thing behind Dale? (it looks like maybe he's holding a loop of balloon string but it is hard to tell b/c it looks funny. The first shop said nix it.
  • And if you have any other comments, suggestions, complaints (haha) I'd love to hear them! TIA!

mmmm kay! Here's my opinion....

I think the size of the origional design is perfect.

The placement on your right shoulder is perfect too

I would chose the 2nd shop. Any tattoo artist that tries to get you to change the way your origional design too much and then charge you that much for it is Bull!! Plus the 2nd artist sounds great! I love it when artists like the design so much they want to add it to their portfolio.

The color of the balloons...I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner but I wanted to suggest that since you were looking for a way to represent you and Mike in the tattoo that you could put the LSU colors (purple & Gold/Yellow) in the balloons since you both love LSU so much :thumbsup2 What do you think?

I would go with whatever your artist suggests for the snout and teeth. They normally know what they are talking about.

and I would also get rid of that loopy thing. Looks weird

Can't wait to see it when you get it done. It's gonna be fantastic! :thumbsup2

SO glad you're here!! Wow, an hour?? :worship:

45 minutes....that IS 'burn your lips off' spicy! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

So what kinda veggies do ya like in your boil?

Maybe my Walmart purchases? (the cover up and the capris, etc) Or are you putting in a vote on the tattoo?

By the way, I went to Hammond City Tattoo last night and talked to the guys there about it. Since I've been leaning toward the pin, I brought a color copy there. They LOVE the piece and he wants to put it in his portfolio if I have it done there! Once Mike decides what he wants (he is looking at doing something with an angel on a motorcycle engine, but has been through numerous pictures of angels and can't decide on just one) then we will both go get our tats together! It's important that we get them done before the end of next month, because that would give us at least a month and a half before going to Disney and the tattoos aren't supposed to be in that much direct sunlight til at least a month later)

I'm SO excited to show mine to Chip and Dale! They are gonna go nuts! (no pun intended :rotfl:) Oh, also, I've decided on doing the balloons. (I think :lmao: ) It just gives it that extra something.

Remember I told y'all that at first, Mike liked the image on the coverup better? Well, he said that people would not "be able to tell" what the pin image is. Everyone at the shops (we went to 2 shops by the way, first one was WAY overpriced but cool) knew exactly what they were. (duh) The balloons, of course, also give it that Disney feel. So if I do that, even someone who didn't know the characters could figure it out. Either way, it's my body and the main thing is that I'm happy with it and I'm comfortable with it on my body.

Okay, since I started this talk about my tattoo, I should have just given it its own update but I'm sure Heather won't mind too much ;) So I'll continue this here.

I want to get opinions on the tattoo so I'll just tell the rest of the story.
The first tattoo shop we went to was recommended by one of Mike's coworkers, but the guy warned him they were "overpriced." But we stopped by anyway to check it out. There were only 2 people there, a man and a woman. I talked to the man first. The size I had blown the pin picture up to was: 3 inches tall from top of the balloons to the bottom of their feet(and about 2 inches wide) and said I wanted it on my right shoulder. The man told me it was a cool piece, but that they'd need to just do one "knot" on the balloons (there are 2) and that it should be a bit bigger. He blew it up on his copier to make it 4 inches tall (nearly 3 inches wide) and asked if I was comfortable with that. I said yes (though I wasn't thinking of getting it quite that big. It is a "cutsie" tattoo and should be small and cute) The woman came to talk to me and said that at that size it would not fit on my shoulder properly and would be best suited for the middle of my back, and said some bull about it being "almost symmetrical". I'm "okay" with that, but I really wanted it on my shoulder. I think right shoulder would be good because of Dale's tilted head to the right. They gave me a price of about $150-$180 WITHOUT the balloons. The balloons would run me another $30-35. First of all, it sounds pretty pricey to me (we were warned though) and a $30 RANGE when they clearly have the image in front of their face is not a good range to me. A $10 range makes more sense. ($150-160) And $30 for the balloons is very high.
Also, she suggested me separating them and putting them on the insides of my ankles so that when I put my legs together (with my feet out :confused3 ) they would be "together" but I didn't like that idea.

Mike wants a bigger and more detailed tattoo than me, so I think his would be at LEAST $300 in that shop. Ouch!

The 2nd shop we went in, where we pretended we hadn't gotten any other quotes naturally, had a "Miami Ink" vibe to you. Anyone who watches the show knows what I mean. They didn't have as much flip throughs to look at, but this guy (named Michael :) ) actually had his portfolio on the counter, and another larger book that included the rest of the people's work.
There were about 5 people working in this shop. One customer was getting tattooed. (BTW no one was getting tattooed while we were in the other shop)
He said the size I had it at (3 inches tall) was great(hah!), and that because it wasn't symmetrical, (hah!) the right shoulder would work just fine. He said he loved the piece and would want to put it in his portfolio, and I said that is great. He said he's been to Disney 9 times  and showed me his tattoos of Alice in Wonderland, the Cheshire cat, Yoda, and others. He was detailed in his description of what he would do with the tattoo. He said he'd do some shading (showed me a tattoo that had similar shading on his body) to give it a little depth, he'd mix a little brown and black for Chip's chocolate chip nose, make one knot instead of 2 on the balloons, and could do a light accent instead of a black one on the balloons. (and added I could add more balloons if I wanted, or one floating away, etc) He also said I could make the balloons any color I wanted. I asked him specifically about the color of Dale's nose--because I know it isn't really red, isn't brown, but it's more in between. He said he'd mix a color, put a dab on the paper, and keep mixing whatever he needed to in order to match the right color. I never knew that's how they did it and I appreciated the explanation. If this is going on my body, I want their noses to be right so we can definitely tell them apart, KWIM?
He gave me a price of about $120 for the 3 inch version, and $150 if I wanted it "a little bigger than that" as I asked about.

Both shops said they didn't do "white" but this guy actually explained to me why---it turns yellow over time. They will do a light color which will pretty much appear white on the skin, with the way they highlight it. That part I'm a little concerned with. Not so much the snouts (those are white on the pin) but the teeth. What do y'all think about that? Just make the snouts the same color as the rest of the body? maybe a tad lighter? So that the teeth will stand out as being "white" compared to the snout?

So, I really would like opinions on a few things:
  • the size of the tattoo
  • the placement of it
  • which shop would YOU choose? (though I think we've already decided on the 2nd one)
  • Should I change the color of the balloons?
  • What do you think about the thing with the teeth vs. snouts?

  • And if you have any other comments, suggestions, complaints (haha) I'd love to hear them! TIA!

In our crawfish boils we put lemons, onions, celery, sausage, corn, potatoes, garlic, mushrooms...I think that's all. I never thought about putting broccoli. Might have to try it.

I DO LOVE that coverup! I actually told Darren last night that you got one and I want one lol. Did they have other characters too?

I'm not too familiar with tattoo shops for tattoos...I've been to Untouchables and VooDoo for my piercings, but haven't gotten a tattoo. From your description I would definitely pick the second shop.

1. I think I like the tattoo small. The size it is on your paper.

2. Right shoulder, definitely.

3. Second shop.

4. Hmm, not sure about the color of the balloons...Maybe a blue and a red or like Carla said, LSU!!!!!! :thumbsup2 Good idea Carla.

5. I think the artist will know what to do about the teeth and snouts. Maybe look at his tattoos and see if he has anything that's supposed to be white and see what they look like?

6. Definitely get rid of the loop. It looks out of place.

7. I like it the way you have it going, unless you wanted to put your name or some kind of hidden Mickey somehow. :confused3 Can't wait to see it!

By the way, why are the smilies changed back? I was just getting used to the new ones. :sad2:

Thanks Heather  and I agree about the smileys...I go in a DIS hiatus for a few days only to come back to the smileys changed back to "normal" after I was just getting used to the other way. So frustrating. Maybe if they gave us a day to expect changes like that it would be so frustrating

Cheri,

Here is a picture of my tattoo. Not bad for a 21 year old tattoo. Sorry the picture is so dark. I noticed I really need to get the colors touched up, I'll go see Scotty Bizarre in two weeks.

k0fqdk.jpg

As far as price goes, I wonder if it's a different range for different areas of the country. Since Michele lives in the most-expensive state, maybe she can tell us how much hers cost (and how big it is) Michele, we want a pic! :thumbsup2

You think my original 3 inch is too large? I like it that size. I don't want it as big as the other guy at the first shop made it though. The guy at the 2nd shop said the size I had it at was fine. It will be around $120.

I am definitely gonna change the color of at least one balloon, to give it some extra color.

HEY! I wasn't pasty for Disney last year or didn't you notice? :rotfl: I like to hit up the tanning bed (in fact, I need to start up this coming week!)
and I do get darker that way.

Thanks for your opinion on the color. I think I will get the snout just a shade lighter than the face if that's possible. The REAL Chip and Dale don't have white snouts anyway. So, should I have a black outline around the whole tat? (is that how it's usually done?)

Okay I'm definitely getting rid of the obscene loop thing. :rotfl:

That's quite alright. I appreciate your input SO MUCH!!!

(smilies...oh, they are back to their original spots aren't they! I wonder if that means the timestamp issue is finally fixed too :confused3 )

:lmao: You aren't gonna set up a wake-up call for yourself? Don't you wanna hear Stitch and Mickey? (which by the way, I think they need to CHANGE, or at least CHANGE UP to rotate different wake-up messages)

I'm sure I'll share it! :goodvibes

I've heard Dole Whips are so good, and I never got one last year!! I need to use my snack credits a lot better this year! We had a bunch left at the end last year.

I'm gonna need a break almost about every day because I scheduled us to wake up early just about every day!

Never been to WCC...had it scheduled last year until we decided to do the 2 credit dinner (California Grill) but I'm really looking forward to it!
Wooden horse! :lmao:

EMH's Rock!! :cool1:

Maybe I was just imagining it smaller. I guess I'd have to actually see it on you, maybe on the stencil they put on. I don't know if its cause its on the paper, but it looks enormous to me.

I didn't notice...remember I was blind last year?:lmao: And it was dark, so that didn't help. I can't believe you haven't been tanning yet! Seemed like you started so early last year.

Yes, they'll most likely outline the whole thing. And that's the most painful part, so once they get past that, it'll be a breeze.

Just because I set a wake up call for myself doesn't necessarily mean I'll get out of bed. I need somebody to motivate me to do it. I'm not a morning person at all!

You'll have to let us know how you like the Dole Whips. I'm too much of a wimp to try it.

You'll like WCC. It's really good and a fun place to go.:thumbsup2

I like the size it is, think it is perfect:)

Yeah, yellow teeth :rotfl: Shame they won't do the white for at least the teeth......:goodvibes

thanks! I actually decided I'm gonna go about a half inch smaller. It will fit a bit better on my shoulder that way.

Your 2nd day looks great:thumbsup2

okay, what are y'all going to pay me? :confused3

Great Day 2! I wish I was going with ya'll

you are allowed to comment even if you don't have a tattoo silly :goodvibes

thanks, I am definitely gonna do the shoulder.

I wish, too!! Are you planning your next trip yet?

Plans look great! I cannot wait to try my first Dole Whip this year!:thumbsup2

Cant comment to much on tattoos as I have NONE...Maybe someday Ill get brave and get one LOL- DH has a ton!!!

thanks...me too girl!!

wow, I'm shocked that you have no tattoos when he has so many!

Maybe you should go on search of a good Disney tat :rolleyes1

I think I might have asked this already in another thread, but when exactly are your dates?

broccoli is so GOOD! Cauliflower too!

Yes, they have other characters. I can't remember exactly what they had though. They might have had Eeyore!

Good idea on #5!

I'm going with Carla on the LSU colors for sure!

I thought about a hidden Mickey but since I'm incuding the balloons and there seems to be no way to do that anyway, I will leave it as is.

Cheri,

You'll like WCC. It's really good and a fun place to go.:thumbsup2

Well I am making it a tad smaller...I think you were right. Just a tad though!

I need to get my lazy butt to that tanning bed before I get this tattoo huh!
I think I started in July last year.

I didn't realize the outlining was most painful. Is it the type of needle that makes it more painful?

I'm not a morning person either...sometimes I don't even HEAR my alarm at home and Mike has to wake me. :lmao: In Disney though, I can do it somehow. I'm the opposite there! :confused3
As I get older though, I must admit, it's getting harder to do!

I will let ya know what I think of the Dole whip. Do you like pineapples? You have to like pineapples.

I'm excited about WCC! Part of me wishes I didn't know about the stuff they do there so I could be surprised. Mike eats ketchup on EVERYTHING so I'm sure he'll ask for it! :thumbsup2

Well, I have to go get dinner and run to the tattoo shop to show them Mike's "design" that I made today at work. haha, yes, at work!

I will post the next day of the itinerary later on tonight, and let y'all know what they say at the tattoo shop, assuming we make it over there.

TTFN!

I don't know what it is about the outline that makes it the most painful part. I think once they start on the coloring, everything is pretty much numbed up by then. Unless you get it down your spine. Then it hurts the whole time.:lmao:

I've noticed that as I get older, I need more sleep. And a midday nap really refreshes me.:rotfl:

Never ate a pineapple, but pineapple juice makes me sick. I'm assuming they taste the same.:confused3

Do Mike and Mom and everybody else know about the things they do? Sometimes the most fun thing is pranking the ones who don't know. I have every intention of telling everyone I'm with how good Beverly is and that they need to try it. Nobody knows a thing about it, and I can't wait to spring it on my kids. Bad mommy.:lmao:

Hopefully, you'll be able to leave the taxes alone tonight and go to the tattoo shop. I wanna see what they say!

Hey :)
My dates are Aug 31- Sept 6th @ WL...so We will miss you guys by a few :(

A disney tatt may be in the near future, although I am a die hard fan (nerd) of matchbox twenty/rob thomas :D and I have always said that would be my 1st tattoo LOL

Okay, okay.... you got me over here! :goodvibes I have been literally scared to go to your's or Carla's threads because I am so far behind! It's all I can do to sort of keep up with Sharky's (thanks to Carla's condensing skills! ) But... hey I don't think I'm too far behind here... I think I can catch up tomorrow! :woohoo:

Anyway.... I saw the tattoo pic and I love it! I'm glad you are going a tad smaller. Just a thought (or an agreement with Nikki really)... my tattoo is of a killer whale and where there would be white on a real one the guy just left it bare skin with some light blue shading.

Dang! First Carla with her stitch and now you with chip and dale! You all have me wanting a disney tattoo!

Thanks Carla! the LSU idea is a great one!! I'm totally doing that!

I'll go with the artist on the snout and teeth (I'll make sure to tell/remind him that the snout isn't really white on the real characters anyway)

I wonder if I should have the string ends there?

I think so too!

Glad you like the idea! Can't wait to see what it looks like!

Okies cool! They usually know what's going to look best

I'll have to look at the picture again...

I don't know what it is about the outline that makes it the most painful part. I think once they start on the coloring, everything is pretty much numbed up by then. Unless you get it down your spine. Then it hurts the whole time.:lmao:

Most tattoo artists say the outline hurts worse than the shading because they are only using one needle for the outline....and they use a lot more for the shading so more area to cover and not going as deep into the skin.

Okay, okay.... you got me over here! :goodvibes I have been literally scared to go to your's or Carla's threads because I am so far behind! YOu're scared to go to my thread huh? It hasn't been having too much activity lately...well, not much disney activity so if you venture there should be pretty easy to jump right in but no pressure. I know how hard it can be to keep up everywhere. Glad I could help you on Sharky's thread. I spent a few days myself trying to catch up :rotfl:

You know you want one!! Peer Pressure!!!

Hey Cheri, I hear you have tips for Buzz Lightyear--I SO need them!!! I so long and desire to beat Tom, but alas, have had no such luck EVER! I need your wisdom girlie!!! Jen

Cool...Carla said the endorphins kick in after about 10 minutes, so maybe that is part of it. :confused3

I have a hard time doing midday naps. It makes me kinda sleepy afterwards. Unless I'm sick and I can sleep whenever I want and wake up when I want. :confused3

Pineapples themselves taste so perfectly sweet, and most pineapple juice has more stuff added to it to keep it fresh. So it's POSSIBLE you would like a pineapple---one day, just go buy a fresh one and you can do an online search on how to cut it--it's not too hard. Fresh is the way to go. Some people can't stand the ones in the can. I find them edible, but nothing beats fresh pineapple! I even like the texture!

I think I told Mike about some of the stuff, but he's forgetful about that kinda stuff (especially if it is coming from me :rolleyes1 ) so he probably won't remember. Unless my mom ate there YEARS ago, she doesn't know. I'm sure the other 2 don't know...they haven't been to Disney in ages...and Brittany was just a little thing.

We did go ::yes:: and you know what post is coming up don't you?! :goodvibes

Hey :)
My dates are Aug 31- Sept 6th @ WL...so We will miss you guys by a few :(

A disney tatt may be in the near future, although I am a die hard fan (nerd) of matchbox twenty/rob thomas :D and I have always said that would be my 1st tattoo LOL

:sad2: Then I hope you have lots of fun on your trip and come back and tell us about the weather you had. :rotfl:

That would be great too...have any ideas for it? A logo you've seen somewhere maybe? :hyper: His signature?

Mine's mostly talk about my sicky ickies!! You can pass all that up if you want.

See? You're not behind! :yay:

Thanks! I'm just going to go with whatever the artist says. :thumbsup2

well you should get one!(HINT: Search the Disney Hong Kong pins ;)

My next one might be Tinkerbell  (Here I haven't even gotten my first and I'm already in talks of my 2nd! :rotfl: )

Glad you like the idea! Can't wait to see what it looks like!

Okies cool! They usually know what's going to look best

I'll have to look at the picture again...

Most tattoo artists say the outline hurts worse than the shading because they are only using one needle for the outline....and they use a lot more for the shading so more area to cover and not going as deep into the skin.

Peer Pressure!!!

oh okay that makes sense! That's what I thought it might be. And maybe those endorphins have a factor, too?

haha peer pressure indeed!!! :rotfl2:

Hey Cheri, I hear you have tips for Buzz Lightyear--I SO need them!!! I so long and desire to beat Tom, but alas, have had no such luck EVER! I need your wisdom girlie!!! Jen

aww, I'm honored. I'm sure there are better ones out there somewhere on the boards. I'll bet there's a whole thread dedicated to BL tips!

The only thing I can say is HOLD DOWN THAT TRIGGER THE WHOLE TIME!!!
And aim for the spinning Z's...and the Evil Emporer Zurg racks up major points!
I think Sharky(Trentmom) might have some tips to add...

Yup, I'm sure they do. Like I said, you will be fine! If I can sit through tattoos and even talk and joke through them then you will do great :thumbsup2

So last night Mike and I went to the tattoo shop again. We showed them a VERY ROUGH outline of what Mike’s tattoo would look like. I mean, I had to piece that thing together from 2 of those copyrighted images (the ones you can find that have the company’s logo and a huge line going through them and protection so you can’t print-screen it, etc.) Anywho he wanted this image of a motorcycle engine from one tattoo, and this angel from another, so I managed to get something together to at least have an idea for the artist. We brought it in, and forewarned him that it was JUST a ROUGH idea. He said he could work something out with it—and they discussed some details. He’s gonna make it black and gray, with blue eyes (like mine) and a banner that says “Never in Solitude” What do y’all think? :confused3

Anyway, I told him I’m going a tad smaller with mine, showed him the size, and he said that would be fine. He said that we could pay a $20 deposit in order to have him draw Mike’s sketch, and make an appointment to come in and have them done. We’d need to block out about 4 hours for the 2 of us, if we both wanted to get ours done by him. And we do. He said Sundays, Mondays, and Thursdays are best. Mike works 5-5 on Sundays, we both work Mondays til 5, and I work Thursdays til 5. :scratchin So, what were we to do?
Well….since this Friday is a holiday would have already been my day off…I am also off Thursday this week. So I say “Mike, ya know, I’m off THIS THURSDAY” and he says, “okay, let’s do it Thursday!” :yay: Michael said 6 would be the latest we should be there. So Mike said 4:00 was good. I guess he wants the day to spend with me. :lovestruc:

I told him he’ll have to go over there Wednesday to make sure it’s what he wants, and no changes need to be made. We don’t want to show up Thursday with changes to be made, ya know?

So….Ladies and Gentlemen…Mike and I are GETTING INKED this THURSDAY!!! I am nervous:scared: and excited  at the same time!

NEXT: Itinerary: Day 3

You're gonna love it.

I'm telling you...it feels good after a while...in a weird sorta way!

Congrats.

I'll need to load pics of my 2 latest ones.
