The Bacon strikes again! Bouncin' back in Sept! UPDATE: We're back! What a trip! p43

I just spent the last hour getting caught up here! :rotfl: I don't know why I haven't made my way here sooner, but I'm here now!

I just wanted to say *YUM* on those crawfish pictures. We let ours soak for 45 minutes!!!! We like them 'burn your lips off' spicy. It's goooooood.

I thought I wanted to comment on something else, but I can't think of what now.....If I remember, I'll be back! (I'll be back anyway, but you know what I mean! ;) )

Thanks for sharing your trip with us. I've never seen or heard of a crawfish boil, and let me just say that I'm kinda glad I haven't! ;) I'm happy that you enjoyed it though, I'm just not a big seafood kinda girl. My idea of seafood is Long John Silvers:thumbsup2
Anyway, I look forward to following your TR for Disney.

I want another update!::cop:

okay, what do ya want??

Now that the mini trip is over, I can get back to posting my itinerary. (I only posted day 1 so far :rotfl: ) Is that what you want?? :confused3

Or do you want me to update my old TR from last year? :confused3

OR both? ;)

SO glad you're here!! Wow, an hour?? :worship:

45 minutes....that IS 'burn your lips off' spicy! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

So what kinda veggies do ya like in your boil?

Maybe my Walmart purchases? (the cover up and the capris, etc) Or are you putting in a vote on the tattoo?

By the way, I went to Hammond City Tattoo last night and talked to the guys there about it. Since I've been leaning toward the pin, I brought a color copy there. They LOVE the piece and he wants to put it in his portfolio if I have it done there! Once Mike decides what he wants (he is looking at doing something with an angel on a motorcycle engine, but has been through numerous pictures of angels and can't decide on just one) then we will both go get our tats together! It's important that we get them done before the end of next month, because that would give us at least a month and a half before going to Disney and the tattoos aren't supposed to be in that much direct sunlight til at least a month later)

I'm SO excited to show mine to Chip and Dale! They are gonna go nuts! (no pun intended :rotfl:) Oh, also, I've decided on doing the balloons. (I think :lmao: ) It just gives it that extra something.

Remember I told y'all that at first, Mike liked the image on the coverup better? Well, he said that people would not "be able to tell" what the pin image is. Everyone at the shops (we went to 2 shops by the way, first one was WAY overpriced but cool) knew exactly what they were. (duh) The balloons, of course, also give it that Disney feel. So if I do that, even someone who didn't know the characters could figure it out. Either way, it's my body and the main thing is that I'm happy with it and I'm comfortable with it on my body.

Okay, since I started this talk about my tattoo, I should have just given it its own update but I'm sure Heather won't mind too much ;) So I'll continue this here.

I want to get opinions on the tattoo so I'll just tell the rest of the story.
The first tattoo shop we went to was recommended by one of Mike's coworkers, but the guy warned him they were "overpriced." But we stopped by anyway to check it out. There were only 2 people there, a man and a woman. I talked to the man first. The size I had blown the pin picture up to was: 3 inches tall from top of the balloons to the bottom of their feet(and about 2 inches wide) and said I wanted it on my right shoulder. The man told me it was a cool piece, but that they'd need to just do one "knot" on the balloons (there are 2) and that it should be a bit bigger. He blew it up on his copier to make it 4 inches tall (nearly 3 inches wide) and asked if I was comfortable with that. I said yes (though I wasn't thinking of getting it quite that big. It is a "cutsie" tattoo and should be small and cute) The woman came to talk to me and said that at that size it would not fit on my shoulder properly and would be best suited for the middle of my back, and said some bull about it being "almost symmetrical". I'm "okay" with that, but I really wanted it on my shoulder. I think right shoulder would be good because of Dale's tilted head to the right. They gave me a price of about $150-$180 WITHOUT the balloons. The balloons would run me another $30-35. First of all, it sounds pretty pricey to me (we were warned though) and a $30 RANGE when they clearly have the image in front of their face is not a good range to me. A $10 range makes more sense. ($150-160) And $30 for the balloons is very high.
Also, she suggested me separating them and putting them on the insides of my ankles so that when I put my legs together (with my feet out :confused3 ) they would be "together" but I didn't like that idea.

Mike wants a bigger and more detailed tattoo than me, so I think his would be at LEAST $300 in that shop. Ouch!

The 2nd shop we went in, where we pretended we hadn't gotten any other quotes naturally, had a "Miami Ink" vibe to you. Anyone who watches the show knows what I mean. They didn't have as much flip throughs to look at, but this guy (named Michael :) ) actually had his portfolio on the counter, and another larger book that included the rest of the people's work.
There were about 5 people working in this shop. One customer was getting tattooed. (BTW no one was getting tattooed while we were in the other shop)
He said the size I had it at (3 inches tall) was great(hah!), and that because it wasn't symmetrical, (hah!) the right shoulder would work just fine. He said he loved the piece and would want to put it in his portfolio, and I said that is great. He said he's been to Disney 9 times  and showed me his tattoos of Alice in Wonderland, the Cheshire cat, Yoda, and others. He was detailed in his description of what he would do with the tattoo. He said he'd do some shading (showed me a tattoo that had similar shading on his body) to give it a little depth, he'd mix a little brown and black for Chip's chocolate chip nose, make one knot instead of 2 on the balloons, and could do a light accent instead of a black one on the balloons. (and added I could add more balloons if I wanted, or one floating away, etc) He also said I could make the balloons any color I wanted. I asked him specifically about the color of Dale's nose--because I know it isn't really red, isn't brown, but it's more in between. He said he'd mix a color, put a dab on the paper, and keep mixing whatever he needed to in order to match the right color. I never knew that's how they did it and I appreciated the explanation. If this is going on my body, I want their noses to be right so we can definitely tell them apart, KWIM?
He gave me a price of about $120 for the 3 inch version, and $150 if I wanted it "a little bigger than that" as I asked about.

Both shops said they didn't do "white" but this guy actually explained to me why---it turns yellow over time. They will do a light color which will pretty much appear white on the skin, with the way they highlight it. That part I'm a little concerned with. Not so much the snouts (those are white on the pin) but the teeth. What do y'all think about that? Just make the snouts the same color as the rest of the body? maybe a tad lighter? So that the teeth will stand out as being "white" compared to the snout?

So, I really would like opinions on a few things:
  • the size of the tattoo
  • the placement of it
  • which shop would YOU choose? (though I think we've already decided on the 2nd one)
  • Should I change the color of the balloons?
  • What do you think about the thing with the teeth vs. snouts?
  • Should I get rid of the loopy thing behind Dale? (it looks like maybe he's holding a loop of balloon string but it is hard to tell b/c it looks funny. The first shop said nix it.
  • And if you have any other comments, suggestions, complaints (haha) I'd love to hear them! TIA!

Here's the picture again so one one has to look back for it
CandDWithBalloons_Carla-1.jpg

And we were playing around last night (get your minds out of the gutter people) WITH THE PICTURES
and look, I know these are terrible pictures and really don't give a great idea of what the tattoo will actually look like, but it does show the size of the image in relation to my shoulder/back.

I held the picture behind me around where it would be
P1010347.jpg

I didn't realize I had it too low, then Mike told me to bring it up higher (but didn't tell me I had my fingers over the balloons, or how it wasn't really laying flat on my skin.)

P1010349.jpg

The following one is the copy the first shop made, and I'm holding about where it would be between my shoulder blades.
P1010351.jpg

I should have cut the images out, but it was late and obviously not a pre-planned out thing.

When I expressed my concern about placement, Michael (at the 2nd shop) also said he would put 2 stencils (is that what they call it?) on my back if I wanted, midback and my shoulder, so I could see what it would look like in both places and decide which one I like better.

The funny thing is, I was tryin to get Mike to take a picture of the other Chip and Dale image (from the coverup) so I held it up to my shoulder and he immediately said he liked the Pin as a tattoo better! I thought that was so funny since he was so against it in the beginning! (and by the way, he wants to do a hidden Mickey in his tattoo! :hyper:)

Okay, so now that I've written this tattoo NOVEL, I need some input!

You're welcome! It's hard for me to fathom that people have not heard of a crawfish boil since they are SO typical here. I would not be able to survive up north without a ton of visits to Louisiana during crawfish season!

Now I am making myself want some!

LJS...:rotfl: We don't have any around here that I know of, so I've never had it. It probably has no spice at all, right?

Thanks, I look forward to writing it too!! (and going of course! :hyper: )

Hey love that hidden Mickey in the tattoo idea!!:thumbsup2

thanks! I gave him the idea a couple days ago, and he put it down. Then, we are sitting at dinner last night, and he says "Ya know, I was thinking about that hidden Mickey thing, and it would actually be pretty cool!"

I couldn't believe it!

It should be easy to get one in the wings of the angel somewhere. Or even the motorcycle engine. He's considering an engine or a tire. He loves his bike! He wants to have something to show he's always being watched over when he rides. :goodvibes: He wanted some type of wording, and I told him to add the words, "Never in Solitude" and he likes that idea.

Definitely the 2nd shop

I would say no to the mid back and definitely put it on shoulder spot

No to the loop, do not need that

For snout area, since they can not do white, can they do light peach or pink, more skin like color?

Not sure about balloon colors

I like the red. Not sure about yellow

How bout blue instead?

But overall, it is going to be great!!

Love the idea of hidden mickey in your hubby tatoo::yes::

thanks for all the tips! So you like the 3 inch size?

I like the idea of a "peachy" color. They should. I just hope the teeth don't look "peachy" too. I want to be sure they look like teeth, ya know? (and not yellow ones :rotfl2: )

I thought about blue. Ya know, I'll have to try to edit in different colors and see how it looks. I had never even thought about that.

Thanks so much! I think so too! I am so excited!

thanks, I hope they can work it in nicely

Day 2, Sept 14th – Magic Kingdom! (our first full day :yay: )

Wake up around 7, because...I want to be at MK before ropedrop at 9:00!
I also hope to try one of those cinnamon buns at the Bakery on Main street! :thumbsup2
RD at Tomorrowland, then hit as much fun stuff as we can before lunch
Have a CS lunch (probably at Cosmic Rays)
I want a dole whip this day!
We probably need a break since we’ll be staying for EMH’s this night. So maybe 2:00ish, back to the room. And back on the bus to MK by 4:30. I guess we’ll take the bus from MK to WL. If we go back early enough we’ll get in some rides before dinner. There’s always the option of taking the car from Pop to WL---I keep forgetting that we’ll have one since the other girls are driving.
ADR – Whispering Canyon Café at 5:40 PM (at WL) - One TS credit
Back to MK for Wishes, and EMH’s! Probably meet up with Carla (Leger13) at some point for her birthday and to give her some Buzz Lightyear pointers so she can beat Chris!

So that's it for Day 2!

Next: GUESS WHAT?!

I hope you manage to get one of those cinamon buns @ the MK bakery...it's soooo delecious!! :cloud9:

Cheri,

I like the right shoulder for the tattoo. I have mine there, I like the fact that if I want it seen I can dress for it or not if that is the case. My first tattoo was done at a more expensive shop and the color is still very good in it I just want to touch it up with more color. I have a butterfly sitting on a flower that I had him leave black so that it looks more like a spiders web. I will go back to him because I have seen tattoos done in other shops and I think he is an artist. He designed the one that I have and I will probably pick another of his designs again. The second shop sounds better to me because he is a a Dis fan too so he is more apt to enjoy doing it there for doing a better job at it.

:goodvibes

So, I really would like opinions on a few things:
  • the size of the tattoo

Wow, that does seem expensive for that tattoo. You've seen the one I have back there, and it was less than $100. Granted, it's not the most colorful tattoo. But my tattoo guy said that you don't generally pay for the color. Its mostly just size, placement, and time spent doing it.

As for size, I agree with you that it looks a little large. And I'm always one for bigger is better (with tattoos, geez!). I wonder if you could get them to shrink it down at all. It's not that detailed, I know they could still do it. They probably just jacked up the size so that they could jack up the price. I was seriously thinking that you could get a small one for around $60 - $80.

Definitely right shoulder. It looks funky in the middle of your back. Plus, no one will ever see it there! If you wanna show it off, put it on the shoulder. It's also harder to see it yourself in a mirror if its in the middle. I still haven't gotten a good look at mine.

2nd one. No question. That first one is waaay overpriced. There's no way they should charge that much. I think $150 is a little steep for that, too. Maybe you should just come to PA and see Stan.:rotfl:

Yes, change the color of the balloons. There's too much brown in there.

I don't think it would look bad if you had the snouts made that tannish color. Maybe just make the surrounding color a few shades darker. Oh, and I have white on one of mine. It hasn't turned yellow (yet), but I've noticed that if you look at it from at least a few inches away, it pretty much looks like the color of my skin. You can't tell its white at all. You have to really look at it close for that. Since you said you're "pasty" pretty much year round, I wonder if it would look white if you didn't get any color at all put in the teeth (or the snout and get the teeth tattooed the light color that they said looked white, but I'm not sure you could differentiate between the two then...other than the black outline).

Yes, get rid of it. It looks obscene.

Geez, my reply turned into a novel, too.:lmao: (WHOA! Hey, the smilies are back!)

If I think of anything else, I'll let you know. You better have that sucker before I see ya next!;)

You forgot to add...

"Call Nikki at 7 to make sure she's awake so they can get ready for rope drop, too!"

Mmm...cinnamon buns! I hope you share that enormous thing with Mike. I know there's no way you'll finish one yourself!

I don't get the thing with the dole whips.

Smart girl planning a break. I seem to have forgotten to do that.:rolleyes1

Have you been to WCC before? I can't remember if you said or not. I could seriously picture you riding the little wooden horse around with the kids. You should do that and take a video.:thumbsup2

Yay for back for EMHs! We're going for those, too!:yay:

Okay the ad at the bottom was a personal ad type thing for tattoo lovers.:rotfl: :rotfl:

I hope so too! It'll also help us get out quicker in the morning if we don't

Cheri,

:goodvibes

I like that idea too. That's one thing I need to think about when I get to the placement of it at the shop. I need to be sure it can't be seen when I wear my summer work shirts. I don't wear anything too low, so I should be okay, but it will definitely have to be something I think into as I'm getting it placed.
You're right....the fact that he's a Disney fan makes it that much better! Maybe we can talk about WDW while he's doing my tat!

Wow, that does seem expensive for that tattoo. You've seen the one I have back there, and it was less than $100. Granted, it's not the most colorful tattoo. But my tattoo guy said that you don't generally pay for the color. Its mostly just size, placement, and time spent doing it.

If I think of anything else, I'll let you know. You better have that sucker before I see ya next!;)

As far as price goes, I wonder if it's a different range for different areas of the country. Since Michele lives in the most-expensive state, maybe she can tell us how much hers cost (and how big it is) Michele, we want a pic! :thumbsup2

You think my original 3 inch is too large? I like it that size. I don't want it as big as the other guy at the first shop made it though. The guy at the 2nd shop said the size I had it at was fine. It will be around $120.

I am definitely gonna change the color of at least one balloon, to give it some extra color.

HEY! I wasn't pasty for Disney last year or didn't you notice? :rotfl: I like to hit up the tanning bed (in fact, I need to start up this coming week!)
and I do get darker that way.

Thanks for your opinion on the color. I think I will get the snout just a shade lighter than the face if that's possible. The REAL Chip and Dale don't have white snouts anyway. So, should I have a black outline around the whole tat? (is that how it's usually done?)

Okay I'm definitely getting rid of the obscene loop thing. :rotfl:

That's quite alright. I appreciate your input SO MUCH!!!

(smilies...oh, they are back to their original spots aren't they! I wonder if that means the timestamp issue is finally fixed too :confused3 )

You forgot to add...

"Call Nikki at 7 to make sure she's awake so they can get ready for rope drop, too!"

Yay for back for EMHs! We're going for those, too!:yay:

:lmao: You aren't gonna set up a wake-up call for yourself? Don't you wanna hear Stitch and Mickey? (which by the way, I think they need to CHANGE, or at least CHANGE UP to rotate different wake-up messages)

I'm sure I'll share it! :goodvibes

I've heard Dole Whips are so good, and I never got one last year!! I need to use my snack credits a lot better this year! We had a bunch left at the end last year.

I'm gonna need a break almost about every day because I scheduled us to wake up early just about every day!

Never been to WCC...had it scheduled last year until we decided to do the 2 credit dinner (California Grill) but I'm really looking forward to it!
Wooden horse! :lmao:

EMH's Rock!! :cool1:

Cheri, One thing about my tattoo is it was done 21 years ago so the prices are alot higher now. And Scotty Bizarre gave my friend Dina and I really great deal on our tattoos, because Dina managed a donut shop by his tattoo parlor. Another reason was I was a really close friend of one of his best customers. Dina got me the tattoo as my 25 birthday present. I will have one of my daughters take a picture of my tattoo later when one of them wakes up and then I will post it. My hubby's next paycheck has two overtime days on it so maybe I will go get a new tattoo in two weeks and then I can tell you a current price.:goodvibes

Oh yeah, that would make a big difference wouldn't it! :rotfl: I feel stupid now.

Cool!!! I hope you get your tat soon!! That's awesome!
