The awkward moment of seeing someone naked at the gym..

If they're that old, it is junk.

Well they have thin gray hair and their nips line up with their belly button, so yeah they are old. I really try to just get in and get out as quick as I can but they take up the whole sink area and I HAVE to wash my hands after working out and touching that equipment...ewwww now I have that visual and my tummy hurts just thinking about it...

Here in Iceland almost everyone showers at the gym after working out so almost everyone runs around butt naked in the changing rooms.

However, everyone around here is used to that. You will not be allowed into any swimming pool here without showering first, NAKED.

As you can tell from this thread, Americans are almost freakishly prudish about naked bodies. God help some of these folks if they ever get old.

I just think there's no need to parade around naked. Getting changed or showering is different than walking around, doing their hair, going to the bathroom, standing there...all naked. There's just no need!

I don't feel comfortable doing it myself, but it doesn't bother me when other women do. Nobody's "shoving their stuff" in my face or anything, they're just doing their thing and I'm doing mine. I'm really amused by all the "horror".

When I'm in my 70's-80's I hope that I am in good enough health to go to the gym and swim and exercise! And if some sweet skinny young thing is horrified by my ancient wrinkled body, so be it. Some day, if she's lucky, she might have an ancient wrinkled old body too.

As for the benches-NEVER sit on a bench without putting your towel down first!!! If someone put a bare foot on there you could pick up athlete's foot or any number of nasty things!!

I must admit I hope at that age I can work out like them!

And I never put skin on the bench...I've heard horror stories and remember gym class in high school (so many guys getting ringworm; gross!)

I really don't mind if they walk from the shower to their locker naked or whatever...I just find it really unnecessary to hang around the sink putting on makeup and doing their hair for an hour. Why not just get dressed and then do that. Its uncomfortable to have get in between them to wash my hands. I guess I'm just a very private person.

Well, if it's anything like our locker room, half the time there's no AC on and with 4-5 hair dryers going full blast it gets pretty hot in there. They're probably doing all that before they get dressed so they aren't all sweaty when they put their clothes on!

When I was going to the gym ( many moons ago as you can tell) I saw a big guy 350-400 lbs standing in front of me when I was setting down on the bench putting my shoes on . Then latter in the day he was walking around with his tighty whiteys on and it had a big hole in the back side .

Where do you guys go?! I go to the local Y, and nobody is ever walking around nekkid. The swimsuits come off and the clothes go on. Heck, I even hang my stuff up in the order I'll be putting it on to make it all go faster.

Think I need to visit another Y and see if people walk around nekkid there, lol.

I just remembered something funny from when dh and I used to go to the gym. We weren't in the locker room but we were working out. DH and I were spotting each other doing bench pressing. Anyway- I am spotting dh and I look up because someone is grunting so loud it is almost comical. Well what do I see but this big guy (muscles, not chub) and he is laying on the bench being spotted and he has the biggest um...puptent. Either he really liked working out or he was trying to point to something on the ceiling without taking his hands off the barbell. So naked or not you never know what you might see.
