The awkward moment of seeing someone naked at the gym..

Wow, I'm really surprised at this thread. I really didn't expect naked bodies to upset folks so much here.

I'm far from an exhibitionist, but if you're in the locker room with me after I've worked out you might just see me naked for a couple of minutes. I'm certainly not parading around, but there will be moments when I'm not clothed or covered with a towel. Everyone else is doing the same thing and nobody seems to be bothered too much by it. At 5:30 am, it's the same ladies every day, we've all got the same stuff and we're all in WAY too much of a hurry to get on to work to be checking each other out!

Even though all the guys in there have the same parts (well I hope we all do! ), it's just awkward seeing guys walking around naked..especially when they are in their 80s. It's uncomfortable to sit on the bench, put on your sneakers, and look up to see a old, cottage cheese butt!

I still do not get why everyone needs to parade around naked or get dressed in the locker room! Go in a stall.

My gym doesn't have changing stalls and I cannot change in a bathroom stall. 9 times out of 10 I bet I'd end up dropping a sock in the toilet. Again, isn't the point of the locker room to dress? We don't all live around the corner from our gym.

I'm a nurse. Naked people don't faze me. I once cared for a person who was going through a transsexual surgery....man to woman...he was about halfway done...that was kind of interesting.

I think there's a time and a place for nudity, and I do not want to see naked people LOUNGING around the gym locker room. Yes, I've seen plenty of naked bodies (I've been an RN for over 20 years), and nudity doesn't "bother" me, but I think personal modesty is a GOOD thing (especially when I think about what comes in contact with benches, from naked feet to naked tushes---EWWW! ). Why can't people just drape themselves in a towel??

I go to the YMCA with my husband in the mornings and then when the workout is over I go into the locker room to go to the bathroom and wash my hands...there is always these 2 old ladies who get their showers (usually with curtain open) and then just walk around naked or stand at the sink naked and put on their makeup or dry their hair. It totally grosses me out. So nasty seeing their junk.

Here in Iceland almost everyone showers at the gym after working out so almost everyone runs around butt naked in the changing rooms.

However, everyone around here is used to that. You will not be allowed into any swimming pool here without showering first, NAKED.
