The awkward moment of seeing someone naked at the gym..

I'll tell you what's awkward...being 22 years old and *telling* people your parent's age to take their clothes off. I'm a nurse and there was a time I didn't think I'd ever get used to that. I did and soon thought nothing of it. In fact, there was a time in my nursing career that I saw more people unclothed than clothed. Soooo...what's for dinner?

Funny isnt it that we nurses could eat while looking at a naked body

There is a reason why the eye sight of 85 year old women is failing.

It starts failing long before that and I suspect that may be the reason. Unfortunately I got glasses

Well...this didn't happen at a gym...and I'm not a nurse. But, I did work at a hospital, as a speech therapist.

I walked in on a very naked man very involved in....ummmmmm....himself. I knocked first before entering, and walked on in. Lesson??? Always wait until they invite you in! Even people who have strokes can still.....um......

My gym has coat racks so you can bypass the locker room altogether if you're afraid of people changing. I usually go right to work after the gym, so I kinda have to shower there as home is 30 min away. I do wear a towel, but I have to take off my clothes first. Sorry, but I thought that was why we had locker rooms segregated by gender.

I don't use the locker rooms at the gym, unless it's too use the restroom. I get dressed for the gym at home, and the only things I take into the gym with me are my towel, Ipod and keys!

I've never seen naked people the few times I have been in the locker room.

I don't parade around naked, but there are brief moments between when I strip off my sweaty clothes and then run into the shower when I am nude.

And then coming out of the shower, I have a towel on, but have to get dressed somehow.

I hope I have not caused anyone to go blind

I go to water aerobics at the Y a couple of times a week. So, I get in the shower with my suit on after class and rinse it while on me and then take off my suit and shower. When I get out, I put my towel around me, and being the modest person I am, gradually dress as I dry off, thus exposing as little bare skin as possible. Then I go do something to my hair. A few weeks ago, as I am working on drying my hair, one of the women in class starts to talk to me. We chat quite a bit during class and she is a very sweet older woman. Problem? She was waltzing around naked as a jaybird! And chatting it up with me, standing there in front of the mirrors. no matter where I looked, there she was!!

I worked at a Gym/health club for four years.

My old work area was a gymnastics office which shared a wall with a mens locker room. Usually no one was ever in the gym office so there was never an issue with seeing the men.

One day when I was in the office, I saw two men just strolling around.. like there was no clothes in the universe.


And to top that, one time I was in the ladies locker room.. and I saw my boss naked in the locker room. EEK!

That sure would make an interesting conversation!

at my gym the ones who do the naked thing are the old ladies, I'd say 70plus and they yell at the ones who go into the bathrooms to get changed, after the pool. Don't get water on the floor. Please the floor in that locker room off the pool, including the bathrooms is a swimming pool. Plus they sprawl around on the locker benches like they were centerfold models. Yikes I just keep my eyes down and keep walking to the stalls.

Wow, I'm really surprised at this thread. I really didn't expect naked bodies to upset folks so much here.

I'm far from an exhibitionist, but if you're in the locker room with me after I've worked out you might just see me naked for a couple of minutes. I'm certainly not parading around, but there will be moments when I'm not clothed or covered with a towel. Everyone else is doing the same thing and nobody seems to be bothered too much by it. At 5:30 am, it's the same ladies every day, we've all got the same stuff and we're all in WAY too much of a hurry to get on to work to be checking each other out!

I still do not get why everyone needs to parade around naked or get dressed in the locker room! Go in a stall. Yes, I have the same parts as you but I do not want to see yours or anyone else's for that matter that I do not know. Heck I don't want to see most people's parts that I do know! I even remember when I was in High School and I belonged to a gym, women would shower with the curtains open. What is up with that?! The curtain is there so you have privacy. I don't want to watch you wash you who-ha!
