Which dish in the school lunchroom causes the worst kid reaction? In HS tater tot casserole always got massive moans and groans but then lunch was never all that great(expect when one of the clubs was selling food)

Pork roll and cheese on English muffin. Best: tuna salad on bun, ravioli, grilled cheese and roast turkey (only have that once or twice each year.)

I actually work close to my DD's school and go eat with her - at least once a week - the best $2 lunch in town! (Of course, I check the menu before I go!) The best - homemade pizza and homemade hot pockets!! The worst so far - "turkey IN gravy" - note does not say Turkey & Gravy... big mistake on my part - it was like thick turkey soup - YUCK!!

salisbery steak always got a bad reaction along with anything fish

The turkey IN gravy is called turkey slop here. You either love it or hate it. I love it.

I worked in an elem school for 7 years....by the far the grossest to me was the turkey gravy slop....mostly gravy with some shredded turkey mixed in. Ew. Piled on top of mashed potatoes- some kids licked the plates clean, others made a point of bringing a sack lunch that day! What killed me was everything else I thought that particular cook made was AWESOME- I guess the turkey gravy was something that fit into the federal guidelines of nutrition, and also fit the school's budget.

I always dreaed right before Thanksgiving break because it was the dreaded lunchroom try at a turkey dinner(no other options were allowed that day so I packed my lunch)

My college used to periodically serve "tofu pilaf" in the dining hall. It would have been more fittingly named "wallpaper paste".

In our school it was "Pizza Supreme". Their idea of pizza was a piece of toasted white bread with a little tomato sauce, a slice of American cheese and a pepperoni. Yuck.

When I was in school, in the Dark Ages, we had this chipped beef and gravy. It looked like someone had already eatten it once. they always served it with turnip greens. I don't think anyone ate on those days. I also remember when they had PB&J sandwiches or PB sandwiches with the commodity PB the students would take the top bread off and throw it on the ceiling to see how long it would stick.
