The Anti-Packing List: What should have been left at home?

Not to get on to too big of soapbox here:) but I'm amazed by people not wearing hats! We make it a point to wear hats outdoors in the summer, and Minnesota is definitely NOT known as the Sunshine State!
Oh, well, as they say, Your Mileage May Vary.:confused3

4 pairs of light weight shorts
6 tops (all will match work with shorts (2 t-shirts, golf shirt, 3 tank tops)
1 swim suit/cove rup
Keens, 1 pair flips flops - no socks!
Dollar store poncho
small bottle sunscreen & purell
pj's
Liquid Tide/2 bounce sheets

If I need a heavier sweat shirt, I will buy one.

Above is a fantastic packing list! For my winter trip, I would trade one pair of short for one pair long pants. And would inlcude a warm layer.

Hand sanitizer - I always travel with it. Never use it! Guess I am not paranoid and tend to wash hands often enough.

Somewhere floating around these boards is the ULTIMATE PACKING LIST!! (dun dun DUN!!) I read it and it was a baaad influence on me. Since we drove, I kept throwing more things in the car too.

The worst, silliest thing I thought we would need was a shower curtain and those 3M hooks that can be removed easily. Why? :confused3 Because, apparently, we would need to create a private area where the sinks or vanities are, so we could get dressed without anyone actually seeing somebody NEKKID!!!

What we ended up doing was sitting on the bed, or balcony, or at the table while each person got dressed in the vanity area. Sheesh! It wasn't hard to do. :rolleyes1 By the way, we were at the Wilderness Lodge for 5 days, and the Dolphin for 3.

Ironically, we're staying at Port Orleans Riverside this time, which has those privacy curtains! The Wilderness Lodge and the Dolphin have layouts that really didn't necessitate them, but POR does.

ok .. i gotta disagree with everyone saying dont bring jeans... maybe its just coz i go in september or october .. but i find bringing one pair of nice jeans is great for those nights at the "signature restaurants" i bring a pair and then one dressier top and im set as far as that goes.
theres ALOT of things i packed that i didnt use though:

-DONT bring alot of makeup .. 2 neutral e/s and foundation or powder and you should be good to go!
-one pair of sandals & one pair of tennis shoes is really all i need shoe-wise
-dont bring too many shorts ... you can wear them two days in a row the way i see it.
-i used my hair straightener on most days but NEVER touched my curling iron or hair dryer
-this trip im not packing shampoo coz the kind in the room was fine for me, but i will bring leave-in conditioner... i <3 that stuff!

The "jeans" thing is really dependant on the time of year you travel. There would be NO WAY we would wear jeans in June - SO HOT. A nice khaki or cotton pair of pants however works with your reasoning about "signature" restaurants at that time of year. :thumbsup2

Totally agree with the makeup - I now only travel with eyeliner pencil, waterproof mascara, and lipstick.

I do bring shampoo, because my hair is so thick I would use up everyone else's allocation, too. :hippie: Hair dryers are in the room - so no need to bring - although I drip dry in Florida anyway - and throw it in a ponytail and wear a baseball cap most days. ;) (after four June trips in a row, have come to the conclusion no one cares if I look like a fashion plate, OR NOT. :lmao:)

Skipped the sneakers the past two years - found the croc flip flops and another pair of sandals were all I wanted.

Agree with not so many pairs of shorts - but again - in June - must have at least one top per day... I refuse to do laundry on VACATION!! :laundy:

However, DD and I STILL brought too many bathing suits again this year...:rolleyes1
