The anti-dining trip report that could have been a disaster but ended up being Yacht-some!! April 2021 at The Yacht Club! Complete 11/5!

Yes, and we learned the hard way…do not let her take off her swim suit in the middle of the room…either that, or we need to pack a broom next time!

OH dear! I'd not thought of that!! That must be a nightmare for the staff there!
You should! It's heavenly, though I'm a sucker for any Disney pool ::yes::

Me too!!

Is that what's in a Mule?? Wow! I had no idea… and note to self…do not try a Mule!

Yes, it is!! They can be pretty strong of ginger flavor, and some are certainly better than others!
So, so sweet. She literally didn't have to do anything but bring my tea. It was definitely appreciated :goodvibes

AWwww!!! :goodvibes:

We headed straight to and through

THROUGH!! THROUGH the castle!! Isn't that HEAVENLY?! Man I love that!!

My mom got the Mickey waffle with strawberries...
578458

I think I'd chose this on over the nutella one. Nutella just isn't a thing for me.

they told us to just go through with the scooters. Well, that line has sooooo many turns and corners and my mom was riding her scooter behind us and at one point we heard the loudest BANG! Everyone gasped and I turned around to see my mom had driven into one of the railings because it was so dark in there and she couldn't see well!
She was fine, but we were all super embarrassed! :rotfl2:
After this we learned that we should just park the scooters outside and walk!

YES, THIS!!!!! What a nightmare that thing is with a scooter!! I did it twice and was ironically seasick before I got on the ride!

Then Allie and Ava went on The Barnstormer,

It's a perfect first coaster. Short and sweet and pretty tame. (I even enjoy it once in a while myself.)

I've been on SM a bunch of times but with the way I was feeling and having just had surgery a month before, I didn't want to risk it.

Here here!! It was a HARD pass for me- even RoTR was a big stretch for me. Did it, but it was NOT comfortable. I just can so relate to your trip.

So, wherever we were going was by bus…there's your big hint!
Disney!!
For y'all who guessed the Magic Kingdom, you were correct!
I was close enough!

Where's my prize???
We headed straight to and through the castle (she looks so pretty  )...
578440
Ava or the castle? :)
After some debate, we had all agreed on Peter Pan.
Such a classic and we knew Ava would love it :lovestruc
Please tell me she did!

And... perfect first choice!
After we got off the happiest cruise that ever sailed, everyone was getting hungry
(including me since I hadn't eaten since Wednesday  ),
Oh, dear.
And if anyone is interested, here's a short video I made of Ava's first ever day in the MK. Spoiler alert, she LOVED it but her absolute favorite thing was the character cavalcades!
Loved that!
My favourite part was at about the 30 second mark when she's so happy she's skipping. :goodvibes
Also... I was holding my breath a bit waiting to see if she liked Barnstormer or not.
On the top of our list was this...
578455
Wow that looks good.
I'm not a fan of Nutella... but I might give this a try anyways.
I actually took a bit of hers, and it was the first bite of food I had since Wednesday
so it tasted AMAZING!
I bet!
Honestly, she is just not a breakfast eater at all
and all week really never wanted food until later in the morning.
It's vacation... you can eat whatever you want... whenever you want!
We sat for a bit and then had a castle photo shoot,
where I am instructed on how to be a photographer
by my teenaged daughter and still seem to get it wrong :sad2:
This was one of probably 50 that I took,
all of which were unacceptable…sigh.
:lmao:
ride a Doomsbuggy with 999 Happy Haunts...
So... was Ava concerned about going on that? How did she react?
When I took my DDs and they were about Ava's age, they refused to go anywhere near it.
at one point we heard the loudest BANG! Everyone gasped and I turned around to see my mom had driven into one of the railings because it was so dark in there and she couldn't see well!
Oh, geez.
I could've sworn I saw someone on a scooter come in from the exit, last time I was there.
We decided to stay in the area and do Dumbo...
which I kind of forget about, but seeing as this was Ava's first trip, it was kind of a must-do.
First trip... definitely a must-do.
I've been on SM a bunch of times but with the way I was feeling and having just had surgery a month before, I didn't want to risk it.
I totally get that.

Aww, Kelly, I'm so sad at you not getting to eat more than a bite of the Disney snacks so far!!

Love hearing about all of Ava's firsts :) Makes me remember taking Jimmy on his first WDW trip and all those perfectly magical first rides and memories. So special!

Loved the video. That was so sweet and reminded me why WDW is so special. It isn't the rides... it's the experiences. Watching her dance during the parades was priceless.

OH dear! I'd not thought of that!! That must be a nightmare for the staff there!

A nightmare for us since we'd end up on our hands and knees trying to wipe up all the wayward sand :sad2:

THROUGH!! THROUGH the castle!! Isn't that HEAVENLY?! Man I love that!!

Yes!

I think I'd chose this on over the nutella one. Nutella just isn't a thing for me.

In real life, I don't eat much Nutella, but on that waffle with the fruit, ahhhhh, so good! But the strawberry one was amazing too!

Where's my prize???

It's here in CT, you just have to claim it by next week…oh, wait :sad1:

Ava or the castle? :)

Aw, BOTH! (But I was really referring to the castle as this was my first time seeing her all decked out  )

Please tell me she did!

:thumbsup2

I'm not a fan of Nutella... but I might give this a try anyways.

It's not overly Nutella-y, but definitely worth a try 😋

So... was Ava concerned about going on that? How did she react?
When I took my DDs and they were about Ava's age, they refused to go anywhere near it.

She didn't love it, but she isn't refusing to go back on in August, so there's that. My kids both went through phases where they went on but then hated it and refused to go on, but they both love it again, thankfully (otherwise I'd have to disown them ::yes:: )

Oh, geez.
I could've sworn I saw someone on a scooter come in from the exit, last time I was there.

We definitely had a lot to learn with the scooters, but since she is fine to walk short distances, it's best to leave the scooter behind. Then she can hold my arm in the darker queues.

Love hearing about all of Ava's firsts :) Makes me remember taking Jimmy on his first WDW trip and all those perfectly magical first rides and memories. So special!

It's so fun getting to do this all over again with her, and I feel like since we took things easy in April there's still so much I'm excited to show her!

That was so sweet and reminded me why WDW is so special. It isn't the rides... it's the experiences.

That sums it up perfectly! She was so happy just sitting on a curb watching a cavalcade!

After we got off the happiest cruise that ever sailed, everyone was getting hungry
(including me since I hadn't eaten since Wednesday  ),
so we headed to find some very specific snacks!
That's next!
I hope you were able to eat something.....what an ordeal recovering from surgery!
I actually took a bit of hers, and it was the first bite of food I had since Wednesday
so it tasted AMAZING!
I was too nervous to eat more than a bite
or to try some of Allie's though so I let them enjoy it.
Ava was a fuss and didn't want to try either.
Honestly, she is just not a breakfast eater at all
and all week really never wanted food until later in the morning.
It is nerve wracking trying food again after being so ill.
Funny story, y'all know we are new at the whole scooter thing so when we went to get in line at TLM, they told us to just go through with the scooters.
Oh dear! Glad everyone was ok!

It's here in CT, you just have to claim it by next week…oh, wait :sad1:
This is patently unfair!

CT is one of the few States that I haven't visited (NE coast and South States), so don't tempt me, woman!
It's not overly Nutella-y, but definitely worth a try 😋
Okay! :)
She didn't love it, but she isn't refusing to go back on in August, so there's that.
That's a step in the right direction.
My kids both went through phases where they went on but then hated it and refused to go on, but they both love it again, thankfully (otherwise I'd have to disown them ::yes:: )
 And yes, you would!

I actually took a bit of hers, and it was the first bite of food I had since Wednesday
so it tasted AMAZING!
I was too nervous to eat more than a bite
or to try some of Allie's though so I let them enjoy it.
Food always tastes amazing when you are REALLY hungry! I hope you get to eat something soon!

at for a bit and then had a castle photo shoot,
where I am instructed on how to be a photographer
by my teenaged daughter and still seem to get it wrong
Can't wait for this phase...

She was fine, but we were all super embarrassed! :rotfl2:
After this we learned that we should just park the scooters outside and walk!
It's nice that you can do this but only professionals should be able to go in those ques! They wind so much! When my mom had a scooter in the park, we did, we always parked it and she walked through the line. It was just easier, for sure. But thankfully she could handle that.

She loved it!
I think it is a good first coaster for little ones because if she had hated it,
at least it would have been over quickly!
Barnstormer is def a perfect first coaster. It was the first coast that Morgan and Gwen got to ride all by themselves. So, even though it isn't super scary, they loved going without parents.

I hope you get to eat something soon!

::yes::

Can't wait for this phase...

Oh, it's a JOY, let me tell you! You'll find out soon enough!

Barnstormer is def a perfect first coaster. It was the first coast that Morgan and Gwen got to ride all by themselves. So, even though it isn't super scary, they loved going without parents.

Aw, that's so cute. I love that WDW is a place where our kids began to learn independence. I remember letting my kids go off to Disney Quest at 11 & 13 by themselves while my mom and I shopped at DtD. They loved being independent and I loved NOT having to go to Disney Quest…win for everyone!

NUGGIES AND CAVALCADES

After Ava's equestrian jaunt...
579798

and Allie's flight through Space,
we all met back up in Tomorrowland
579804

579805

We got some water and sat there and mobile ordered from Pecos Bill's.
This was a heartbreaker for me because, as some of you already know,
Pecos Bill's Southwestern Salad with chicken is one of my favorite QS meals on property.
I was really sad not to be getting it :sad1:

As we were walking there,
I noticed one of the carts in Frontierland had those frozen Minute Maid
Icee Lemonade bars so I told the rest to go ahead and I got in line for it,
only to be told that they were only taking cash because their machine was down.
Boo. But once I saw that I had to go on a quest for another stand to get it,
which took me over to Adventureland near the Jungle Cruise.
I finally got my frozen lemonade bar and brought it back to PB's
where they were sitting inside and eating,
and sadly, I didn't take any picture of their food…
probably because I was jealous that my mom was eating my favorite salad!
The girls both got corn dog nuggies…actually,
Allie had gotten them but then when Ava saw them
she decided she wanted them too so we mobile ordered a second helping
of corn dog nuggies and they shared both.
With everyone satisfied…even me because that Icee tasted soooo good,
we headed out of PB's and were stopped by a cavalcade

579812

579813

579814

On our way into Adventureland,
we stopped for some ice cream and sat in the shade a bit to eat.
It was super hot out and I think the heat was making us all drag.
Ava kept talking about going back to the pool and as the day went on,
that idea was sounding better and better.
579815

579816

But before we left, we had to take a last ride on the Jungle Cruise as we know and love it…
and I'm so glad we did since they started dismantling it shortly after this!
579817

Before we headed out of the MK, we did a little shopping in the Emporium
and in the little purse shop across from the Emporium,
where Allie convinced me to buy a new Vera Bradley wallet.
Then Allie got a drink and some grapes at Starbucks
and we sat and watched another cavalcade go by while the girls ate their snack.

579987

We headed out and back to the resort and spent a little time at the pool before the clouds started rolling in and it started sprinkling, which quite literally put a damper on our evening plans since we were planning on taking the skyliner over to The Riviera and eating at Primo Piatto. We had already eyed the menu and thought everyone would be happy getting dinner from here. But by the time we made it back to the room, the clouds were darkening and it was looking pretty ominous so we decided to stay put.

But then we needed to come up with another plan for dinner,

and I was actually thinking I was feeling a little better and would try eating something…that's next!

I know…low blow! Sorry
I felt that...
I do hope you all get to cross the border soon ::yes::
Oh, man. Me toooo!!!
Well, I'm here to reassure you…you're not missing much :rotfl:
:lmao:

So unfair. You should've gotten better sooner.

:sad2:
No salad, no icee lemonade... What is happening???
I finally got my frozen lemonade bar
phew!
I didn't take any picture of their food…
probably because I was jealous that my mom was eating my favorite salad!

Totally get it.
You probably had your back to the table.
The girls both got corn dog nuggies…actually,
Allie had gotten them but then when Ava saw them

Ava is a smart girl.

mmm... corn dog nuggies...
Ava kept talking about going back to the pool and as the day went on,
that idea was sounding better and better.
Yeah... not surprised. I made sure that we took an afternoon pool break every day when we were there when the DDs were about Ava's age. (4 & 8)
Don't know why, but she looks really different in this photo.
But before we left, we had to take a last ride on the Jungle Cruise…
and I'm so glad we did since they started dismantling it shortly after this!
Nice move!
Allie convinced me to buy a new Vera Bradley wallet.
And Allie is a smart girl, too.
I was actually thinking I was feeling a little better and would try eating something…that's next!
Hope you can!

DINNER TIME!

Allie and Ava were making silly videos out on the balcony
while we decided where to eat.
579867

Our options were fairly limited since we saw the storm clouds rolling in and we wanted to stay at the resort, leaving us with the following options: The Market at Ale and Compass, Ale and Compass Lounge, The Beach Club Marketplace, or in-room dining (which is crazy expensive). Ava wanted another hotdog 🤢 , my mom was kind of being indecisive and fussy, and Allie wanted a burger. So Allie and I went off to the Ale & Compass Lounge and my mom and Ava went back to the Beach Club Marketplace. I hate to say this, but my mom is a SUPER picky eater…and this is coming from someone who is kind picky, but my pickiness doesn't hold a candle to my mom's, and it was just aggravating this night. I think maybe everyone was just all disappointed that the weather messed up our plans and made us all bit cranky 😛

Anyway, when Allie and I got down to the A&C Lounge, it was pretty busy.
I think a LOT of people had the same idea as we did
and we noticed it getting even busier throughout our meal.

The lounge is self seating and luckily we were able to grab a table after just a few minutes. Shortly after, our server arrived to clean off the table and take our orders and I swear,
it was the same server Mike and I had at Yachtsman's Steakhouse in 2013. Crazy, right? But maybe not so crazy since I imagine a lot of the servers were moved around and are filling holes where the needs are and since this is literally right next to Yachtsman's,
this kind of makes sense. He was so busy though, so I didn't want to bother him to ask, but he was an excellent server despite his busyness,
and soon, he brought out our yummy food.

That's right, I said, "our."

Parker House Rolls with Jams and Spreads...
579877

Roasted, "Buffalo-Style" Cauliflower...
579880

And Allie's Bacon and Vermont Cheddar Burger...
579881

579883

I was starting to feel better and thought the cauliflower sounded like a good idea
as maybe a first "meal," although I did ask for light buffalo sauce
and it seemed to have a lot so I kind of scraped it off before eating it.

After almost 4 days with no real food, this was sooo delicious.
I ate maybe 3-4 pieces, plus a half of a roll with nothing on it
that was also delicious…but don't take my word for it…I was literally starving and pretty much anything would have tasted good at that point!

Allie loved her burger and it was cooked perfectly for her.
We brought the rest of the rolls and cauliflower back to the room to my mom
who couldn't find anything to eat at The Beach Club Marketplace, so that worked out well.

Everyone was much happier after eating
and we ended up just relaxing in the room and going to bed early.

We had an early morning the next day and were hoping for better weather…
little did I know it would be maybe the worst weather I've ever seen in WDW :scared1:

The heat in the middle of the day is the worst!

Getting "hangry" is real!

Looks good! Glad you enjoyed it. :)

Hi Kelly!
First off, I'm all caught up.
Second, Ava is adorable!!!!
Third, I'm so sorry you had to have surgery.
Thank goodness you started feeling a little better at Disney. Hope that continues!!!!

Allie and Ava were making silly videos out on the balcony

Ava wanted another hotdog 🤢
no surprise there, is it?
Allie wanted a burger
Told you she was smart. ::yes::

Allie loved her burger and it was cooked perfectly for her.
Good! It sure looked good, but when it comes to burgers, looks can be deceiving.
