~ The Amazing Race ~ Season 16 ~

I felt very sorry for that poor guy who couldn't get across that wire. He really did try and his wife was very nice about him not making it.
Well, look at it this way. They DO get a reasonably long vacation at the eliminated constestant location :teeth: If only - like Dan - he had held onto the overhead cable; he could have worked his way across.

Speaking of which, Dan didn't actually WALK the entire 120 feet, did he? Now, granted, hand-over-hand would be a LOT harder - but to me, that means he didn't complete the roadblock as described. Granted, the same team would still have lost - but by my interpretation of the rules, they should have incurred the dreaed thirty minute penalty :teeth:

It seems to me that the producers might have instigated those comments about Miss Teen North Carolina. If someone had told me that one of my fellow contestants would be a former Miss Teen North Carolina, I wouldn't have realized that she was the one who messed up the question.
Ah, but you're not Jordan. It wouldn't surprise me in the least to learn he actually watched that pageant and remembered her blunder, or at least read news articles about it.

I know it was, but two years later, I wouldn't have remembered that it was that specific girl unless someone made a point of telling me.

On Miss Teen South Carolina- Who can forget that speech? Yes she was nervous but have you seen that answer? My daughter and I were watching and she looked at me with shock after that answer and she was 10 at the time! For some reason she had South Africa and Iraq as her buzz words in her head she just didn't know how to use them. That was painful to watch. Particularly since she was using it as a platform to discuss the "america's education system".

More importantly though my favorite part last night was the Dad and daughter painting inside the house and the guys looking at them like what the heck? :rotfl2:

exactly!

That certainly was an entertaining episode. At first glance, this group doesn't seem to be the brightest bunch they have ever had.

I don't like the lesbian couple or the gay brother. They seemed over the top and mean. They jave also said up the Asian husband as a villain in using the "I'm in charge comment."

Did anybody wonder why the guy who couldn't get across the wire didn't just haul himself across like the brother who fell? And how did he get back to the start each time?

Dan was still holding the overhead cable. Shawn (I think that's his name) let go of it both times and was connected only by the harness.

The first time, a worker came and 'towed' him back by pulling on the harness; I would guess that's how they did it the second time, too, and just didn't show that?

I only caught the last 15-20 min last night...I forgot it was going to be on. The grandmother/granddaughter team amazes me...I am realy pulling for them.

I don't think gay Jordan did anything insulting by imitating Miss Teen. That clip was EVERYWHERE. To me, it seemed like he was excited that she was there. If it weren't for her horrible performance in that interview, nobody would know who she is and AR would probably not have chosen her for the show.

I really didn't get a bad vibe from any of the teams yet, but I know it's bound to happen soon.

I also think the producers had a hand in Jordan remembering her -- just like I thought they had a hand in someone "recognizing" one of the poker chicks in the last race. I had never even heard of the incident before I read about it on this thread. If it weren't for that, I wouldn't have had any preconceived notions about her at all.

And I just have to ask..... why so many Jeff and Jordan fans? I mean they seem nice enough, I guess, but there seems to be nothing that sets them apart. I mean if I didn't know them from all the talk here they would just be "that guy and that girl who kept saying China instead of Chile." Maybe I will see more of their appeal as the race proceeds.

I liked the father/daughter team from the bios, but now I'm not so sure. I thought them barging into the house and painting it was hysterical though. I loved the attorney/moms though. I hope they get far. I also loved the cowboys despite their blunder, but I always love the farm/country teams.

I was really happy to see Jeff and Jordan come in first, good for them!

I felt sorry for the married couple that was eliminated, he tried so hard, even a second time. And his wife was still so supportive of him. That was sweet.

I can't stand the gay brother. Making fun of, and telling everyone who would listen, about the beauty queen contestant's blunder, that was just mean and nasty. I hope they go home soon!

I like the Dad and Daughter team, felt bad for them painting the inside of the house when they were supposed to paint outside. Oops.

The Grandma and Granddaughter are nice too, but probably won't go far. :(

I don't like the lesbian women either. Mean and nasty right off the bat.

I don't think I like the couple that they showed next week, trying to let others join them in the line at the airport ticket counter. Cutting in line shouldn't be allowed. If they do that, they should incur that 30-minute penalty before they can be checked in on the mat by Phil. JMHO.

I wasn't sure why Adrian(?) the married guy had to go back and start over---Couldn't he have climbed back up and continued? Did the safety guy tell him? I know when he fell down his lines looked messed up..maybe that's why they towed him back? I don't know..I felt bad, he got so far only to have to start from scratch.

As for next week with the line jumping-----totally uncool! I hope whoever is holding people back does incur the penalty for interfering with gameplay (like that team that covered the bicycle parts with the tarp)

I don't think gay Jordan did anything insulting by immitating Miss Teen. That clip was EVERYWHERE.
Telling people about it, no ("Hey, she's the Miss Teen constestant who REALLY messed up her response!"). Mocking her by imitating her, yes, was wrong.

Again, Dan (the other contestant who lost his footing) never let go of the overhead cable, and so was able to pull himself hand-over-hand to complete the challenge. Nobody told him to, he just still had the cable in his hands. He never had to pull himself back up - besides, that would've just gotten him to the walking cable; he still would've had to somehow balance on that (narrow) cable and grab hold of the overhead one.

Both times Shawn fell, he let go of that cable. Even if he could have pulled himself up the harness, he still had nothing to hold on to - just the narrow cable on which to balance.

I don't get it. I didn't watch Big Brother last summer.

His name is Adrian, not Shawn.

Big Brother fans kind of spent the entire summer with Jeff & Jordan:laughing:. Those who had the live BB feeds could watch them 24/7. You don't get to truly know the AR contestants the same way.

It's called reality t.v......I'm off to buy a map now:lmao:

Waahh. I just watched the videos of Dana and Adrian on the CBS site. I really like them, and I wish even more that they hadn't been eliminated.

Did I imagine that Caitie made reference to her Miss Teen question during AR. Kind of a rolling of the eyes, and a "how stupid was that" comment about herself? Could be that I dreamed that up. ;)

Wish we had have been privvy to the father/daughter finding out that they painted the wrong house. There must have been enough paint, though, since they didn't get a penalty for needing more.

The lesbians are just mean. Can't stand them. And I dont really like the brothers either. Nothing wrong with pointing out Miss Teen SC but to mock her was just mean.

We are Big Brother watchers and Jeff and Jordan fans. We were actually surprised that they did as well as they did last night.

We liked the Miss SC team too.

The rest we'll just have to wait and see. I did feel sorry for the eliminated couple. I think they probably could have really used the money.

Jordan is a local girl so I feel compelled to root for her.

There aren't many teams that I like so far this year. The brothers seem like jerks, the lesbians seem like jerks, the lawyer moms seem like total jerks "Ask these people for directions, they're black". Oh because a white person wouldn't have helped them? I am soooo over the race card.

The cowboys could be fun.

I almost always immediately like the gay teams but so far not this year. The grandma team could be fun but only time will tell how long she'll last no matter how many half runs she's done. I don't care for male on the models team. The team that was eliminated was likeable but alas they are gone. Father daughter team might be likeable but it is yet to be seen. The husband of the Asian team looks like he is going to be a jerk.

I'm like they couldn't find any nice racers for this season? :confused3

Ditto! My husband said "Of course he remembers her, he probably watched it!" I have a lot of gay friends who remembered her blunder, so I didn't think anything of him remembering it.

That's why I think the show should have been two hours long. The last 20 minutes really seemed pressed for time and left out a lot of the couples doing the painting task.

:confused3

my condolences. can't see why you all are rooting for her - I don't watch Big Brother, so this was my first impression of her. Blech. Double blech. Stupid and proud of it - waiting for her big strong man to swoop in and take care of her. I prefer to root for people, men and women, who are intelligent and self-sufficient.
