THE AMAZING RACE 15, Season Starts 09/27/09

I need some help from everyone. I am planning tomorrow's meal with a Vegas theme and I am at a loss. I assigned a friend who will be out of town until the afternoon Shrimp Cocktail and now I need something that is not too expensive for a friend with little money and I need a nice protein for me to make. I was thinking about doing a prime rib roast but I'm not sure that I want to spend that much money and I have never done it before.

Any ideas for a Finale Dinner?

I was anticipating what you would do.:thumbsup2

My first thought was a Las Vegas buffet. I googled for menus and came up with this link. Perhaps pick your favorite and prepare some of their highlights:
http://www.lasvegastourism.com/las_vegas_buffets.htm

Other thought was--in honor of what is typically the final roadblock, a smorgasboard of favorites from prior menus for your favorite countries.

Good luck!

(I usually save rib roasts for special occasions--like a holiday dinner. That might be a bit pricey for Amazing Race. But it is delicious. :))

FINALE TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :happytv:

Who are you all rooting for???

1. Team Zebra (because they are the underdogs)
2. Meghan and Cheyne

As long as the brothers don't win, I'll be satisfied.

I wish that AR would end their seasons in a similar way to how Survivor ends theirs; with a Live Reunion show, where Phil could ask each of the teams some questions about things that happened during the race. AR's ending always seems so abrupt, in comparison.

I LOVE the finale' and Live Reunion episodes (always played back to back) of Survivor. Jeff asks almost all of the questions that I would ask. :happytv:

Vegas screams the 4.99 steak and shrimp platter.

The last time we went to Vegas we ate $1.99 steak and eggs.

I am thinking about buying some strip steaks and sharing a steak between two people. They are not too expensive around here ... about $9 per pound.

Anyone but the brothers---they are underhanded! I guess that's the reason I don't care for Survivor. I always want the people who play fair to win.:)

I'm for Team "not the brothers".

Teams that I would have rooted for specifically are no longer in the running. (not that there is anything wrong with Team Zebra or Meghan and Cheyne.)

I love Survivor and I don't like at least half of the people who've won.....but, sometimes the good guys win. :thumbsup2

That who I'm as well esp on Survivor. It's hard to root for the bad guys

I hope you found something Robin. If there is a Piggly Wiggly in Madison, they have uncut Tenderloin Beef for 2.99. It is the best grilled outside, and my dh won't grill anymore, so he said forgetaboutit.

I wouldn't mind if Meegan and Chayne won, since they were a very strong team.
Not the brothers.
I wouldn't mind if the married couple wins. She got on my nerves, but I think they just protrayed her as whiney, she pulled through a lot of hard challenges.

Hey, Robin - another idea if you haven't already shopped. Breakfast. A breakfast/brunch buffet, or even a few appropriate items, would be inexpensive. Eggs, pancakes, bacon... and shrimp cocktail, as you know - and unlimited free drinks?

Bummer, Piggly Wiggly was mostly taken over by Copps in our area. I just checked Copps and they have Tenderloin for $5.99 per pound. Still, I could get about $10 worth of beef and feed everyone!

I watched the AR 9 this morning, and the hippies 'yield' mojo, not a u turn.

OMG! For $2.99 per pound, I'm thinking of asking you to buy 10 tenderloins to ship to me. What a great price. Even at $5.99 per pound, it's $4.00 per pound cheaper than the sale price around here.

Tenderloin done in the same stainless steel pan as onions and mushrooms, with a little olive oil is very good. Finish the "sauce with some heavy cream and a splash of scotch or whiskey. This is my favorite way to eat tenderloin when it's too cold to grill... or I don't feel like going outside.

I'm rooting for Brian & Erica since the Globetrotters are gone.
