The All-New What's For Dinner Thread!!(recipe index in OP)

Oh, oh, oh! We just had a Whole Foods store open in the next town. It's a drive of about 15 minutes, but I'm there once a week! I'm going to start checking there! Thanks!!!!!

I recommend picking up a bag of Have'A Corn Chips if they carry them. I don't like chips all that much but these are the best snack in the world.

So once again I try to coax the cat inside to get out of the rain, but he won't budge. He won't let you pet him, so there's no picking him up. Each time I walk by the door, which is in the middle of my living room, that is what I see! He won't come in, but he makes me feel awful when he just sits there and stares in at me!!!!!!!!!!!

He is feral so he is scared to come in. Honest Lindsay, you are helping him by leaving food there. He may learn to trust you after a while but don't feel badly if he needs to remain outdoors.

I took the kids to the mall for lunch today (gotta love the Chick fil A), and then we browsed in Build A Bear Workshop for a while. They all have stuff they think their bears "need", so now they have something to work for! We did decide that on Friday, after we find out the sex of the baby, we'll go make a bear for Peanut to set in the crib. They were all excited about that!

Kady saves her money for buying things she "needs" at the BAB as well.

Neat Loaf (It's good)

Sounds good! I hope to see you here often.

Well dinner went down the drain. I am not sure how today went up in smoke but it did and so we are having leftovers from last night. Voting was crazy today, Jeff said there was fighting going on and some people got hauled away :scared1:. Buddy and I always vote together but today was not that Walton's photo op :scared:. It's a good thing I like that guy! Marisa and Kady came with us as Buddy tried to plead his case until the 75' sign. We told him it was illegal to even talk after that :headache: There were people whose registration had lapsed bellowing because they wanted to vote, it was nutz! We should have the results tonight or tomorrow morning.

Welcome ...keep these yummy recipes coming!

Thanks for this recipe...I am going to try it. DH loves meatloaf and swiss, so together it should be a winner.

Have you used shredded swiss instead of cube? Any is the topping enough or do you serve gravy with it?

Cant wait to give it a try!

Ann

It sounds like good ole Chicago politics ;) That 75' rule is a good one. That was one thing my ex and I always agreed on we didn't tell one another how to vote.

If you go to Whole Foods make sure to buy some of their marshmallows!!!!!! The cocoa & the rasberry are so good, especially in smores or home made ice cream:lovestruc. The come in a clear round plastic container.
At thanksgiving they are a harvest spice that makes hot chocolate out of this world....

Oh boy I feel another stress craving coming my way;)

10 minutes until turkey and stuffing bake, DH walked in and said the house smelled so good, I will report on it later.

Leftovers for dinner tonight, or eggs and toast. There was a really bad accident, so instead of sitting in traffic I stayed late at work. To late to be creative with dinner, but I'm safe and my family is safe so I can't complain. Summer driving is crazy here, I can't believe there aren't more accidents.

The baked eggplant looks really good. I make my own boursin type spread, but I've never cooked with it- we use it as a sandwich spread or on bagels.

I just realized I have a doctor's appointment tommorow, which means I'll be near a Trader Joe's- any suggestions on something new to try (I live in MA so no alcohol.)

We never do either but boy he is having a tough time with this one. He insisted he was not arguing....he was explaining how these things work because I did not understand...so he explained and explained and explained......

Nancy Let Buddy know if he explains too much and the mexican food comes out I can't help him out. He did this one on his own ;)

Becky--Thanks so much for posting the Creamed corn w/orzo recipe. It was to die for! It got raving reviews!

Thanks for all the compliments on DD's room--now if I can just finish the walls you can't see in the pics:rolleyes:

I honestly don't know if he's feral. He's gotten to where he hangs out here most of the time. I have a feeling he's either lost or abandoned. I've seen some pretty feral cats and he just doesn't act like one. He has slowly come around the past couple of months. He now begs for dinner if we don't feed him right away, lol!!

Anyway, he's a cutie and me and Scott love having him around :)

And see if their salad bar has the Cavatelli and Smoked Mozzarella salad on it! :cloud9: I have to stop there on the way home from my sisters house just to get that and this last time my mother told me I had to go so I could get her some. :rotfl:

Have you had their Teriyaki Chicken? If not it is in the frozen section and is really good. I usually have it with their whole wheat cous cous.

Well, at least you usually vote together. Greg and I are never that Walton's photo op. I tell him I am just going in to cancel his vote.

She was so funny, she was coming out of the bathroom and told me "come on, it's time to get ready to go to the zoo", when I told her I was going to get dressed she said "alright, I'll wait in my bed for you to come give me some clothes to wear". She's 4.

Sounds like a princess-in-training to me! :)

I hate shopping there because it's expensive and everybody seems a little stuck up.

Beck likes to call it Whole Wallet. I think if you stick to certain things, like produce and meat, their prices are within reasonable guidelines if you are looking for organic or natural fruits, vegetables and meats. It's when you start shopping their staples aisles that things get out of control. I won't argue about people being stuck up, but it isn't everyone. The ones who are just stand out more.

Welcome to the thread!

For dinner tonight, I had the eggplant my mom sent -- very good -- but in defiance of the Trilogy diet we also had pasta. Liam's had sausage, Caili's just had cheese and mine had sauce. I also made garlic bread and salad.

I have to take a minute to brag on my husband. He's been spending the last couple of weeks working on clips of the plays being produced at my father's theater company. Well, they are finally up on the website, and I think they look really good! Take a look if you feel like it.

That Looks Great! Excellent job!

I am cooking for 60 tomorrow, doing Pulled Pork, coleslaw and baked red potatoes for the majority, but there are a few guys who's wives are vegitarians, so I made the following for them.

Veggie Stuffed Bell Peppers
2 cups rice
2 1/4 cups water
1/4 cup cider viniger

Use the above to cook the rice in a rice cooker

1 large yellow onion chopped
garlic chopped
8 oz mushrooms sliced
16 oz tomato sauce
16 oz meat subistute sausage
1 cup red wine
salt
pepper
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp basil
1 tsp tyme
EVOO
4 bell peppers

Camelize onion in a little EVOO, add mushrooms and cook till they release their mosture, crumble "sausage" and cook for 2 minutes add garlic and cook 2 minutes more.

Add tomato sauce, wine and spices cook for 5 minutes. Fold in cooked rice.

Cut tops off of bellpeppers remove seeds and veins. Stuff mixture into bell peppers.

Bake for 1 hour at 350 or untill bell peppers are just starting to brown.

Morning all. I am giggling because I have a snoozing P.C. on my rug on my back porch. I just love that cat.

Tonight I am making kitten Cajun pasta.

Hey you all, I went to Target last weekend. Their spices/seasonings were on sale and I picked up some almond extract.

Now give me some ideas and recipes to use it in :)

Flyby photos, I'll come back to catch up and chat.

Salads...Here is John's. It has the leftover flank steak, cucumbers, radishes, tomatoes, nectarines tossed in a raspberry chipotle dressing, some nuts that I pulled from the freezer that I made at Christmas (!) reheated to bring out their flavor (they were baked in rosemary and cayenne and brown sugar), and croutons topped with flavored goat cheeses. Here are the mini goat cheeses:

They were way too big so we bot have leftovers for lunch.

WFD - Grilled pork chops, risotto rice cakes and Becky's spicy slaw.

Good Morning! Quick check in...we are going to see the Dark Knight this evening and we may go for a quick bite.

Glynis, Alan did a great job!

Trader Joes: We liked the Carne Asada Autentico. You can grill it then serve in tortillas. There is a thread on the budget board about TJs and the items people like...

Be back later...gotta get moving...:)

ETA: I think we are eating home. I have been wanting tacos...
