The All-New What's For Dinner Thread!!(recipe index in OP)

Ann, I just looked on All Ears and TI and RR have basically the same rating...RR maybe a bit higher...but the prices at TI look pretty high to me for what is on the menu. It does look pretty there though.

Here are some photos from dinner last night. I grilled a chicken in a honey marinade.

Becky, would you mind sharing the recipe? Your chicken looks fabulous!

Hi everyone! I got back Sunday evening, but I feel like I haven't stopped since then. I would have tried for a quick check in on Sunday or last night (too busy catching up at work to do it here yesterday), but my darling girl wanted all of my attention.

No matter how good Kenny did, and it sounds like he really did well :thumbsup2, there is no one like Mom to a little Princess. And I bet you misses your Sweet Girl as much as she missed you.

My congrats to Kenny on the cooking as well! Buddy would have had a standing order at Mickey D's :)

I cannot imagine how you felt with your sister. My sister and I are very close, I would be lost is she was moving away.

Thanks for everyone's 2 cents on Brisket...
I'm still nervous about it - but its just cause I care right!
:goodvibes

I wish I did have time to cook the day before - I'll be lucky to let it marinate long enough. Thanks for the vote of confidence! I'm thinking I can do this...

Don't be nervous, you are a good cook. I think as long as you cook it slowly it is going to be fine. Now let us know how it turned out.

Just a drive by - VBS/Day Camp is less than 2 weeks away and I've lost my mind!!

Haven't been to the store in weeks, ran out of food last night, we're going out.

:rotfl::rotfl:, Honey, I don't know how you can even manage to think lately! You are crazy busy! I don't juggle as much as you or most of the others for that matter, and I end up ordering out or taking in more than I care to admit ;)

Thanks everyone for the congrats for Liam. He was pretty proud of himself, but when I mentioned today that all of you and Greg (he called earlier) said congratulations, he rolled his eyes as if to say, "Mom...that was SO yesterday!"

I wish you and Buddy the best with the farm. I can't imagine putting in as much work as he has and having the crop fail.

I'm glad you had a good time. I can imagine how you feel about your sister moving...I don't know what I would do without Beck close by. My life would certainly be a lot emptier.

Liam is so funny :lmao:Yesterday for him is still today for all of us.....a fact he will come to know sooner than he thinks :rotfl2:
*****************
Buddy has only lost a crop maybe twice, and that last call was not fun. He told me it was a dark day when the adjuster told him to harrow it under. We have had issues the past two years because of the weather and he has not only managed to save it, but each year it has been excellent quality. I think he will do that again this year but before a friend came to take a look yesterday he thought it was not going to make it. We are small enough to give it all the extra attention, and he is not a man to neglect it.
*************************

You are fortunate that you and Becky are close. Gail and I are so close and our children are as well. She was so good to mine, just as Becky is so loving to yours, and then when hers came along they spent a lot of time with me. Marisa watched them like an older sister and now Gail's girls are Kady's superstars.

I have an ADR for RR but am considering trying Tutto Italia. What do you ladies think? Opinions welcome, would you make the switch?

I have not been to either one. All that I can add is that my nephews GF's family went to RR and ended up just staying there and enjoying the entertainment. They told me it was one of the highlights of their trip.

I think I am bailing on dinner. (Aimee- I am not even working :guilty:) I thought that I had a lot of the casserole left but Jeff ate it. I guess it was good, Buddy and Jeff and no complaints! Anyway, Marisa grilled a lot of chicken the other night so Buddy can have chicken sandwiches and I will have mine on a salad. The rest of the family is at a 3 D movie that just came out so they will eat out.

Hey y'all,

Gosh I sure missed a bunch & it hasn't even been 24hrs since I checked in!

Lauren, I'm sorry you're back isn't any better! I'd tell you to go to the dr, but I know you don't want to take any more meds. So take it easy pleeze!! Do you have access to a hot tub or swimming pool? I know the pool helps my problems & it helped DD also.

Becky, That chicken looks wonderful! I don't know how you managed to debone that & have it look so pretty! I'm sure mine would end up looking like it went through a meat grinder.

Nancy, Sorry to hear Buddy is so stressed, I'm sure that causing you to feel it too!

To you & cajunmommy, A big THANK YOU to our nation's farming families!!! I know times are tough & get tougher with fuel cost. Probably one of the most underappreciated jobs in America too.

Dinner last night was delicious! Unfortunately my pics don't show it. I think there was a short between the camera & the operator! Me:sad2: Anyway Emeril's jerk marinade rocked! Here's the not so great pics.

I fixed a "lite" coleslaw, curried mashed sweet potatoes & I concocted the dipping sauce with a combo of Emeril's ginger barbecue sauce & the Paula Deen recipe Kathy mentioned. We also had Jamaican Fizz cocktails with dinner.

We had dessert too, Grilled pineapple with a splash of rum ;) , topped with vanilla gelato & a drizzle of honey. It was sooo gooood!

Tonight's dinner will be leftovers that I'm really looking forward too.

Tonight is spaghetti with sausage and garlic bread.

I really need to come up with some new recipes I'm boring myself.

Sheryl Your leftovers sound better than my dinner :rotfl:

My stepmother came from a farming family. Of course since they didn't have chicken only cattle and corn Alex told them "this is no farm!" I don't know where that kid comes from sometimes.

Piglet let us know how the brisket turns out.

Ann -- Personally, I would pick Raglan Road. I have not eaten at the Italian restaurant since it changed, but the one time I ate there, it was unpleasant. Looking at the new menu, it seems really overpriced to me and Beck, so we haven't even put it on our consideration list. My kids both liked Raglan Road our last trip. The first time we ate there, shortly after they opened, they thought it was "too fancy" because of the way the dishes were presented, but since then, the restaurant has learned that it doesn't need to put its fish and chips in conical shaped holders (like some restaurants use for bread.) Raglan Road is definitely kid-friendly. It is a big place, and we have never felt like we were sitting right on top of another party.

ETA: Lauren, I am glad your back is feeling a little better. Keep resting!

Sheryl -- Your dinner sounds yummy!

Liam is so funny :lmao:

We are small enough to give it all the extra attention, and he is not a man to neglect it.

Yes, Liam is funny. However, there are times that no one thinks Liam is funnier than he does.

Caili comes out with a good one every once in a while too. She has been taking a ballet workshop this week while Liam has been at baseball camp, so I asked her if she has been talking in ballet (meaning talking at all in the 3 1/2 hours she is there...because sometimes she won't...like today, she drank no water because she wouldn't ask anyone to help her open her bottle.) She looked at me, with her most superior look, and asked, "Do ballerinas talk?" I must have looked a little confused because she clarified and asked, "Do they talk when they are dancing?" I answered no. She said, "Well, you know your answer then."

I really admire both of you for all the work you put into the farm.

I pan-fried the sole, since Caili won't eat it any other way, but it looked a bit messy...some of the coating came off of the pieces added last to the pan...so I didn't take a picture. We also had green beans, salad, and breadsticks.

Thank you everyone about the replies on RR, I am going to keep my ADRs the way they are then. Today, we got HDDR review which is our first night tradition, DS loves music and has been great everytime we have taken him so far. Persistance pays off, I was thrilled to get HDDR but had to sacrifice Kona for it.

I made the garlic & parm monkey bread tonight, yummy!

Lauren, get well and rest!

Kathy, good luck to Kyle.

Good night all!
Ann

I don't know, Sheryl. They look pretty darn good to me.

Well I have good news to share about Buddy's Aunt. She is in the step down unit, is chipper, eating and taking meds by mouth. I told Buddy tonight and added that my WFD friends had added her to their prayers, that they are powerful and that they are working. He was so touched that people who don't even know her have been praying for her. "But Buddy, they know you." He is not a man of many words but he was amazed by all of you.

I have to add that I placed a call to the adjuster. I left the farm after he got there but he is afraid that he is going to lose it. He wants his agent to come by and take a look, if it perks up this week it will make it but he said he ran into a farmer from town when he was picking up fertilizer. He sent plants to the Experimental Station to be analyzed and it does not look good. The rain has done something to the root system and even though these little guys are standing all perky they are not able to get the nutrients.

Nancy That is great news about Buddy's Aunt. I'll keep her in my prayers

I hope those plants make it. Maybe it is some kind of insect or virus in the soil?

Talk to you all tomorrow I have to go work on the darn computer no more playing. :rolleyes1

Nancy - SO happy about Buddy's Aunt, continued prayers.

Gotta get ready for Big Brother.......:happytv:

Nothing to exciting for dinner here, I made my creamy ranch chicken, but I used leftover rottisere chicken instead cooking up chicken breasts, it was very tasty. I've had a busy week at work, now I'm looking foward to my 2 days off. I'm out in the sun a lot at work and it's wearing my down, but at the same time I'm having so much fun. Not sure what's for dinner tomorrow, I'll have to see what's left at the grocery store.

Well I have good news to share about Buddy's Aunt.

That is great news! I hope the plants improve as well.

Today, we got HDDR review which is our first night tradition

Can you tell us (me and Beck) more about HDDR? We were thinking about trying to book it, but my parents didn't seem to think it was right for our group...3 (maybe 4) adults and two children, 9 and 7.

I'm looking foward to my 2 days off.

Good to hear from you, and enjoy your days off.

Today, my sister is bringing her kids over to play and visit. I think we'll take all the kids to the local candy store, the Peppermint Place for some candy and some gelato for the mommies!

Mmmm, gelato. May have to stop and get some tomorrow. I love pistachio gelato the best!

He just called me a little while ago. The coach let them sleep in this morning, then they had their first practice. They're attending a welcome banquet tonight and Kyle will be throwing the first game of the series vs. Arlington, TX(I think that's what he said) tomorrow at 11:30. Of course all he wanted to talk about was the Bengals stadium and the Reds field, ya know the stuff guys love that Mom really isn't interested in....:rotfl:

Is he in Arlington? That's a hop skip and jump from me.

I have an ADR for RR but am considering trying Tutto Italia. What do you ladies think? Opinions welcome, would you make the switch? And is TI kid friendly? We went to RR once and the service really turned us away, we were going to give it another try but I am cautious. I know alot of you have said great things about RR.

Thanks,
Ann

I think you're right to stick with RR. I will admit service has never been excellent but we just love the atmosphere.

We love HDDR! I went for the first time when I was 4. Saw it again as a teenager, and again 2 years ago with DH. Show hasn't changed a bit but it's still just as funny (there's a reason why it hasn't changed and often has sell out crowds even with 3 shows a night!). It's truly for all ages. It's slapstick, sorta corny humor - very funny.

Have your parents been? Did they not like it? I have read one or two people who didn't enjoy it but it's overall one of the most popular spots at WDW.

We ended up at Mexican Inn. I ate my weight in chips and tortillas before my meal came so most of the meal came home. YUM!

Is he in Arlington? That's a hop skip and jump from me.

No, he's in Cincinnati.:goodvibes

WFD - A new recipe by Paula Deen - Pig on a Stick, it's a jerk pork on skewers. Going to do some pineapple rice pilaf and corn with it.

Good Morning!

Quick Fly By...

Nancy, Glad to hear about Buddy's Aunt and I hope the crop is OK.

Laura, I think HDDR would be fun for your group. It's a dinner show...I can't remember the show exactly but I know when I was about 8 I was picked to be in it and Davy Crocket had to kiss me! The food is pretty good and some alcoholic drinks are also included.

We are having flank steak marinated in my famous marinade, broccoli and tossed salad.

Have a great day...gotta go take a hot shower to loosen up my back...be back later to catch up.

Morning all! WFD tonight will be quick takeout from someplace. Our church is moving into a new building this week, and they need all hands on deck to get everything moved in time for weekend services. So it will be work for me, quick bite with kids, and then over to the church for manual labor!

Dinner last night was delicious!

Nice job, looks wonderful...I would love that dessert. I have been craving grilled peaches too!

 Power of positive thoughts still coming your way with everything!

I think it would be great for such a group. Food is average... corn bread, fried chicken, bbq ribs, beans, mashed potato, salad, and strawberry shortcake. I think the corn bread and chicken are the best food items they serve. Includes free beverages (including wine & beer which DH loves).Food comes from Trails End kitchen

Show is a quirky slapstick musical but real cute and fast moving. Audience and servers are involved in the show. This will be my DS third time and he loves it. On our last visit we made ressies to take my DP as a surprise. DF was sick and could not go, so my nephew (10) went in his place. He is still talking about how it is the best place in WDW. My step-children have gone since they were kids and still love it at 22 & 19.

I say try everything at least once. It is a bit pricey but we think worth it.We prefer level 1 or 2 seating.

I think you're right to stick with RR. I will admit service has never been excellent but we just love the atmosphere.

I am now getting excited about RR but their menu is huge, now I have to narrow down what to eat. Something about the guinness ribs are calling me!

I am so glad to hear you say positives about HDDR also...:thumbsup2 good family show!

WFD- pork schnitzel with gravy, corn and some starch for me!

Ann

Photo of last night's cobb salad. I'll be back in a bit with chat and also the chicken recipe.
