The All-New What's For Dinner Thread!!(recipe index in OP)

Lauren I almost forgot to mention we did go to Raglan Rd Alex loved their burgers. He fell in love with the cheddar they used. I have to look out for it. I had the fish and chips :lovestruc . No dessert though ghiradelli was calling me.

The crowds were very managable. Most rides had a wait time of 30 minutes. We must have scared a lot of people away. We did avoid MK on the 4th though. We went to Downtown Disney instead. Oh we went to the Plaza and Yak and Yeti with no ressie's. Only a 15 minute wait for each. :thumbsup2 So it is possible to get in places without a ressie but I wouldn't do that with Lecellier. I finally had the Mushroom filet and Maple creme brulle(sp) both were wonderful definitely would do that again. The filet was like butter it melted in your mouth. I forgot my camera in the room lots this time. I don't know where my head was :rotfl:

Anyone going down soon you have to do Toy story mania. Totally cool definitely a fast pass attraction though.

Back to reality we are having Brats (cooked inside since it is thundering) mac n cheese and grapes.

I can't wait to try Raglan Road, Lauren's got me really excited about it. Speaking of Lauren, where is she?

Isn't the Mushroom filet at LeCellier great? I didn't get the hype until I tried it.

Toy Story just seemed like something for kids only until I read someone's TR and now I think Johnny & I will try and catch it.

Hey you guys, I need some ideas. I was watching 30 Minute Meals today and Rachael Ray made this

You could substitute paprika in the chicken and rice. I've made it like that before, and it is good. You could do a mango salsa with that and keep the avocado cream sauce. I just looked at it briefly, and that is what I thought of.

The September trip is for our 25th anniversary, & our first trip to WDW alone! :lovestruc

Congratulations! (And I was going to suggest more butter for your potatoes...glad they are better!)

I was like that after one Margarita from the stand in Mexico! :rolleyes1 By the time I got to China I was :hippie: :rotfl:

I am sure you were no where near what Beck is thinking of...she's talking about the near-puking crowd, not the blissful "I've just had a drink and I'm on vacation, so I'll probably have another" crowd.

Janice -- I am enjoying seeing your pictures and hearing your reviews. Yak and Yeti is very tempting, but I am worried about Liam's shellfish allergy there.

Kathy -- I'm glad Kyle did so well! He must be so happy, and I am sure you and Johnny are so proud. :goodvibes

Here's a picture of dinner tonight. We had grilled salmon that was marinated in a lime/sesame sauce, then topped with lime butter; the famous eggplant sticks; a pineapple rice and a salad (not pictured):

Hey everyone!!! I am going to start this off by saying I am sure I will miss someone in my catching up so please forgive me.:)
I have missed you all!! I Hope some normalness (is that a word?!!?) is in my future! My dad being here was chaotic, plus Ross leaving for camp was bad enough, then Kris took a few days off while Ross was gone, and took me away as a surprise, to the coast then up towards Ross in the county where we picked him up on Sat. This week has been appt. and taken care of my gram. Ross is busier then I thought this summer, it didn't look like a lot on paper but hauling and packing him etc I realize it is a wicked lot!! So if I come and go please forgive.
I think I am all caught up but if I miss something/one I tried.

Glynis--I am loving the London report, and the photos with it. My brother and sis in law took their girls a few years ago and said it was the best vacation ever. We hope to do it in a few years as well.
I am very hopeful that things are just fine with your precious baby, how wonderful that this nurse cared enough to help you relax a bit. I have you and the sweet baby you carry held high in my prayers.

Lauren--I was very happy to read that your test results came back with good news and that Mr A is doing better too.

Nancy--I am so sorry to read that your Aunt is not doing well, and that poor Buddy's aunt is failing also. That my dear is a lot for anyone to have going on. Please know that all in your family are in my prayers that things turn out the way they should.
On a seperate note....I had tears running down my face on your food follies...I can only imagine Buddy's face....I think I will get with Gretchen and send him some bread,;)

Becky--as always I must give credit to you and your porn....perfect summer meals.

Laura--I cringed at your story of Liam getting hit with the ball, Ross wants to do baseball next year and I always think of this part of it, I won't even let him do the batting cages as the freak me out. How I handle karate and football is beyond me, but I think that is all I can take, lol.

Kathy--I was so scared when I saw that Miss Sammy was not doing well, I had to skip past all other posts until I found your update that she was going to be ok, Ross and I send her pats on the head and hugs to you!!

Janice--Glad to hear you had such a fun trip!! Keep filling us in on it all!!

Sheryl--I hope that you get the answers you need when you finally do get in to your Dr. How is your daughter feeling?

Aimee--We have karate bootcamp weekend next week and I dread it, I can't imagine a whole week of it with the kiddos, I tip my hat to you. I also want to send a congratulations to your Dh for finding a job!

Ann--It sounds like you ds and mom had a fun time in the pool, what they do for the little ones.

Lindsay--How are things with you and your father? More important..How are you doing with digesting all the news?

Gretchen--You my dear friend, are an amazing mother, who manages a very stressfull situation with grace and patience every day, you are entitled to a moment of stress and frustration. It is ok to have those times of feeling like you did, you dealt with a tough moment much better then anyone I know would have. You may always vent to us, lean on us, cry on our shoulder etc. cause that is what friends are for........I think you did a marvelous( I know I spelled that wrong, and I am to tired to care) job rambling on too!;)

OH crud--I know I am missing some others.....I will just say that all of you are in my hearts, and those that are feeling under the weather, or have a loved one who is, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. To those that have had good things go on in their lives, I am smiling right along with you!
Ross had a friend here for 10 hrs today....and (gag) they picked BK for supper, I am going to go have a late night bagel and Kris will have when he finally gets home (big surprise here) Sugar Cereal of some sort...I think he is into a box of ****erry.
Tommorow I have to go get my grams groceries, then Ross wants to go see my inlaws dogs (he loves their dogs almost as much as he loves our lab) SO I am just peachy keen on that visit,,what a crappy way to end my week. I will grin and nod my way through it....all the while biting my tongue I am sure.

I will be back tomorrow I promise...I hope everyone has a great Friday.

Hey y'all,

I know I'm not keeping up wth everyone today & I apolgize before hand.

Laura, Really glad Liam wasn't hurt!

Janice, Y&Y looks yummy!

Would y'all believe I haven't book a single ADR for our trip!! Well DH & I want to do mostly F&W events. But I'd like to do a few things with Alexis & her parental units!

Merle, So happy you are getting into the food porn!

Laura, Your "no cook" meal looks great!

Last night's dinner was last minute off the cuff. Jamaican chicken with mango/avocada "salsa" with arugula in a whole wheat wrap. In the salsa I used mango, avocado, vidalia onions, jal. peppers, lime juice & major grey's chutney. Where has that been all my life?!!! Here's a pic although I cooked late so natural light was gone & I tried to compensate by taking the pic under a halogen spotlight.

Tonight it's leftover cheesy chicken pasta and sourdough bread.

Lindsay, what ingredients in the recipe don't agree with you? I know you don't like chili powder but I don't see that listed. And are you planning on making the accompanying sauces, or just the main dish?

It was really more the combination sounded like it wouldn't agree with me. Know what I mean. Oh LOVE chili powder, for some reason it just doesn't like me. I hadn't planned on making the accompanying toppings.

To all: I was thinking of doing breasts instead of thighs, and maybe some chunked up Italian sausage and doing an Italian one. Do I just use some Italian seasoning? What do you all suggest?

Lindsay--How are things with you and your father? More important..How are you doing with digesting all the news?
Meh, I am doing better, but still a little shell shocked. I am past the "people are waiting for my marriage to fail" stage, thank goodness. I am just still reeling over the fact that my dad has presented such a different face to me. Basically a liar by omission. I went to lunch with my stepmother Wednesday and have been talking to her a lot. She has NOT tried to turn me against my father AT ALL. She has just needed someone to talk to who knows her and knows my dad like I do.

I have no idea how I'm going to handle things with my dad, though.

Thanks for asking :)

Thank you all for your prayers. They really helped my Aunt. She went back to her nursing home last night. The Dr's did not know what was wrong but let whatever it was run it's course. I was glad that I was there Wednesday evening when the Dr came in. She had been withholding all of the meds and was going to make some changes  I told the Dr what would happen, called my cousin and she insisted that the meds be given immediately and that nothing be changed. I'll call my sister and she will make sure that is what is on the report. Buddy's Aunt is holding her own, she is sedated while on the ventilator. We will know more today and are going to see her after Buddy gets out of work. I don't know if she will be more aware but he needs to be there for his two cousins.

Good Morning All! Now that summer is here, I am finding it hard to keep up...here and the house. :rolleyes1

I am way behind everything now too. I have a huge pile of ironing and just keep walking away, it would take me two days :scared1: so I have decided to ignore that too.

but might skip it so she doesn't get more crud in her ear. Poor baby. And poor mommy--she came into our room screaming again last night around 3am and then DS joined her around 5. I need to get that California King bed ASAP

Poor Baby . Ear aches are painful but they are scarey too. I hope that she gets better soon, for both of you!

Did you put splenda IN the chili? Or am I reading wrong??[/B]

See, this was the problem. I always add a pinch of sugar to my chili, just like my Mom did. I have not been using sugar so I added Splenda. I think maybe I used too much......:rolleyes1

Oh my gosh! Is he ok today? I know sometimes you are more sore the day after, not that I'm not sure it hurt plenty when it happened. I do have to ask, does the sundae rule apply to a hit batter or just hits by your batter?

Poor Buddy. I love you Nancy, but sometimes I just want to send Buddy several loaves of bread. ;)

I'm trying to do something I know Kenny would like because I'm leaving in the morning to spend a weekend with my mother and sister in Atlanta shopping. We leave early tomorrow morning and we're coming home on Sunday evening. I've put a couple meals in the freezer he can heat while I'm gone, so I hope they don't live on fast food.

I'll try to check back in this afternoon/evening, but if not, I'll see you all when I get back.

I wondered about the Sundae rule too. Seems to me getting beaned by the ball should have an ice cream in the plan :thumbsup2
***********************

I bet you would not make him eat whole wheat with added fiber either :lmao::lmao:. He gets a kick out of my friends here looking out for him and his tuna sandwiches. He cannot figure out why I don't :rotfl:
********************************************

You are going to have so much fun! Enjoy your weekend with your Mom, you certainly deserve a little break to spend time on you :thumbsup2 and your secret is safe with me, Buddy has no idea how much of his little "quirks" I share but he shakes whenever I start laughing....;)

I've been around. I've just found it so hard to keep up with this thread. I'll try to post more often. :goodvibes

I know what you mean - and I always feel bad if I leave someone out. :flower3:

You don't need to worry about missing one of us, and you don't need to worry about keeping up, this thread moves fast. We just miss seeing you all stop in and say HI.

:thumbsup2

(And I know y'all are worried about my potatoes... after I posted on here, I went back are whipped them some more - I guess my arm needed a rest! They are better now. Well, more whipping and more butter! ;) )

I was going to suggest butter. I don;t know too many foods that butter can't make better ;), and now you know why I need WW :lmao:

I was like that after one Margarita from the stand in Mexico! :rolleyes1

That is why Jeff splits one with me, I am also a cheap date but I like to sample. If I indulged all by myself I would not be blithering, I would be sleeping, I usually need a nap if I have a cocktail during the day :upsidedow

You all have me drooling for Y&Y! I have no idea how I can convince everyone that they want AK this trip :woohoo:, but I may try.

You all have me feeling a little guilty for my poor starving husband so I am going to make him tuna for supper and he can put it on potato buns :thumbsup2 Poor guy did not get his grinder until after 9:30 last night (he said it was worth waiting for).

Hi All!

I am very sleepy lately...:confused3 so please forgive me for not keeping up.

Nancy, Prayers for both your Aunts.

Janice, Great pics! I am glad you liked RR. We really enjoyed Toy Story too. Andrew and I (we left Tom back at OKW ;) ) went in the single rider line and wound up sitting together...Fast Passes were gone by mid day when we were there.

Ladies, Great pics!

See, I am so sleepy I lost my train of thought...I think we will have Chinese food tonight.

Have a great day and I'll try to catch up later...:rolleyes1

Just popping in to post last night's dinner photo. I'll catch up on the thread later when I have a slow moment at the office. Broiled tofu in a soy-sesame marinade, blasted baby bok choy, and fried rice (I did not have any coconut milk, so no coconut rice!):

Morning all! I will second that Toy Story Mania is a must do! I went to WDW in late June with some girlfriends and we had a blast! But get your fastpasses as soon as you get in the park--we got our Fastpasses at 10:30 and our return time was 3:40! But it was also Stars Wars Weekend. Anyway, it's super cool and a do not miss attraction!

Some dining reviews of our trip in June. California grill--food was good, service was really bad. I had the sushi sampler plate and it was very good, except for the octopus, but I think it was the odd herb in the roll that made the taste weird. Also had a flat bread with onions and cheese-don't remember the name--but it was very yummy. Our waiter was extremely unattentive and I was really put off by the fact that he pointed out the most expensive entree in each category as "his favorites" Possibly, they were his faves, but it just seemed like he was fishing for a better tip. Some advice for him, better service=better tip. I don't think I even tipped 15%, and that is bad for me. I just expect a lot more from a signature restaurant. Did have a very good margarita too

Le Cellier--Dinner here was fabulous! And most of that was due to our fab server Travis! We had a big group--13 or 14 of us. And we never we in need of anything! He even saw how much we loved the pretzel bread and got us some fresh out of the oven. I had the mushroom filet and it was cooked perfectly. Also had a La Fin du Monde beer, and it was very tasty too--but very high alcohol content (like 9%) so be aware!;) I had the whiskey cake for dinner--and it was just okay. But since the filet and the service were so good I give it a big thumbs up!

Cape May Dinner--this was just eh. We picked this restaurant b/c they could accomodate our huge party--I think 20+ this time. We got a semi private room and took up 3 tables. I wouldn't do this restaurant again for dinner. We've done the character breakfast and that was nice--but not for dinner. I was really excited about the key lime tarts and oreo bon bons on the menu for dessert. But they were less than stellar--and the rest of the buffet was worse than that. I don't eat clams, so maybe if I did the dinner would've been better--but not so much.

Fresh at the Dolphin for breakfast--If you are looking for a departure from a traditional "Disney" breakfast buffet this is a wonderful alternative. I think it was $17.99 for breakfast buffet including fresh squeezed orange juice and Starbucks coffee. The egg station cooks omelets and eggs to order. They also make french toast, pancackes and waffles while you wait; meaning they're not premade and in a warming tray for hours. You can also have a fresh fruit and yogurt parfait made to order. And the also have fresh squeezed juice extracts--I had the antioxidant one, I think it had lots of fresh berries with maybe a little bit of beet in it. I would definitely eat here again.

Starring Rolls at Disney Studios--this is by far, IMO, the best counter service at DS. The sandwiches are huge and a departure from greasy burgers. And I love the pastry counter. And you can choose one of those tasty treats as your dessert if you're on the dining plan. It's also a great use of a counter service credit, as my lunch would've cost over $14! I had the Black Forest Ham sandwich, chips and a key lime tart thingy. Yummo--even having to eat in the rain it was good!

Okay, back to your regularly scheduled thread!!

Okay, WFD tonight.....not really sure--Fridays' are normally Pizza night--but we made a departure from the norm and had pizza last night. Will update when I know

Okay, ladies need some Disney Dining advice. DH and I are going to WDW for marathon weekend in Januray sans kids. Our ADR window opens up this weekend and I need help deciding what to choose. We are spending one night at AKV and the rest of our time at BCV. The night before the half marathon we're gonna eat at Spoodles b/c they have a nice pasta offering for race participants. The next day we'll spend at Epcot after the race and I can't decide between Les Chefs de France or Bistro de Paris? What do ya'll think? And then the next night I need help chosing between BlueZoo, Citricos, and Narcosees. Help!

Lauren - Hope you're not getting sick my friend.

Stephanie - Thanks for the dining reviews! I agree with you on Cape May, we went once and said never again. I've been hearing good things about Fresh & Starring Rolls lately, wish I could squeeze them into our next trip.

I've been to Chefs and loved it. We're trying Bistro for the first time in November. You can't make your ADR for Bistro until 30 days out(I think).

Between Blue Zoo, Citricos & Narcoossee's I've only been to Blue Zoo and LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it!!!!! We're trying Narcoossee's in November with Lauren, Tom & Andrew. Here's a link to my review and pics of Blue Zoo:

Stephanie, First thanks for the dining reviews! If you are looking for romantic, I would choose Bistro de Paris. We loved the Bistro, we did the chef's tasting menu, expensive but sooo good! I haven't been to Narcoosee's in a long long time, but the food was delicious. To me it felt more like a family rest., but I have read that a window seat during fireworks is great.

Lauren - Hope you're not getting sick my friend.

Kyle left this morning for a tournament in Shreveport and he then next week he goes to Cincinnati.......:sad1:

Kathy, Can I come over for dinner?! ;) That sounds deelicious!

I'm going to have a guest this weekend. My brother's dog! They are going on their 1st ever family vacation! DB has been married about 15 yrs & they have never gone on a vacation!! Weird uh??? Even stranger, they are going to Branson. My niece is in the singing club Louisiana Kids, some of the kids are competing in Branson, but she's not one of them. But they have decided to go anyway! :confused3
Anyway, I'm actually nervous about having the dog here. I haven't had a dog in the house since we lost our Smokey. And since they have never gone anywhere, their 13 yo dog hasn't been away from home or without them ever! He's a very good dog though, so I'm sure we'll be fine. I hope! He'll be here 8 or 9 days.

Sure, I'm not used to cooking for two anyway.;)

I've never been to Branson, not sure if I'd want to go in the summer though I heard it gets terribly hot there. What kind of dog is it? Don't be surprised if he doesn't eat much, if anything, the first few days. He'll be fine, when he gets hungry enough he'll eat.

In less than a week I'm at my goal of 60 minutes of cardio at the gym along with 45 minutes of weights/toning!!:cool1:

Lauren- Are you more awake yet? If not, what is happening my friend?

Some dining reviews of our trip in June.

Thank you for your reviews! I love hearing about Disney Food , both good an bad. I have not tried any of the restaurants you would like an opinion for. I'm sorry.

I have to tell you that I love the pic in your signature!

I bet this is going to be one pampered pooch!

Well ladies, I told you that my sister gets her story mixed up but I have to add my mixed up one. Debbie went to Wisconsin to play and there were scouts for Team America there. She did not even try out becasue she could not commit to the time she needed if accepted. Her friend did try out and was accepted to the next phase. I am not even going to try to understand that. Anyway, she told me that she had the time of her life, she got to meet some of the women who played professional ball int eh fifties and they were wonderful. They told a lot of stories and becasue they were at a field where they had played they could describe the changes that took place. Poor Debbie has to unscramble her Mom's tales and now she needs to add me :confused3

With Kyle not home, you'll probably have leftovers for the whole weekend!!!

We have asked them to join us in WDW more than once, why a trip now (after never going on any) and to Branson in July???? Family who can ever figure them out!

Max is a mixed breed. Probably about 30 lbs, hair sort of like an irish setter. Thanks for the tip, I really hope he doesn't get depressed & he can handle being around Alexis come Monday. He's a really good, well behaved & trained dog, but he is 13. And he has never been boarded or stayed anywhere without them. (hurricane evacuations is the only time he hasn't been in his house) I'm not really thrilled to have him here either, Bob & I really have never gotten over losing Smokey. But it was either my Mom keeping him & she has a horrible 6 month old lab who would probably hurt Max. Or boarding him at the vets. And my brother was really getting stressed about it.

I forgot to tell y'all, We did decide to fly to WDW for our October trip. We caugt some good SW airfare prices. And we get a bonus too, airfare was way cheaper the day before we planned to leave. So we added a one night at ASM! For SisIL, (for the 3 of them) it actually came out about $15 cheaper to stay at ASM for one night, compared to flying out the next day.
