The All-New What's For Dinner Thread!!(recipe index in OP)

Happy Birthday Ann!!!!!!! I'm glad that you had a great day with your little guy.

Ann, A belated Happy Birthday to you!!! :bday:
Glad you're Mom fixed you a nice dinner! It sounds like you've shopped away the aches & pains!:goodvibes

:lmao:

I'll tell you what, I'll cook all the fish and you cook all the beef, and between the two of us we can earn the title Grillmaster. :thumbsup2

I don't really have any suggestions about the TV. I used to let them watch it, but then Liam got bored with the kiddie programs that were appropriate for Caili, and Caili decided she didn't like Sesame Street anymore because she was terrified of Oscar and Cookie Monster. :confused3 Then I started letting them watch a movie on Friday nights, but that rapidly deteriorated into a giant fight over what to watch, so now, the TV just stays off. To be honest, at this point, they are so busy, there isn't time for TV. The free time they have, they want to spend in other ways. Liam hasn't even played his Wii all that much. Maybe you could get Alexis into figure skating?? :lmao:

I changed my mind on the roast chicken (now that I went out and bought one :headache: ). It has stopped raining and it is humid, so I don't want the oven on for that long. I think I will grill it instead.

Your kids are something else!:thumbsup2

We do have to get Alexis involved in something. But her Mom & I are having a stand-off on that right now. She wants to put her in dancing school. Ugh! We have very few schools that teach "real" ballet around here instead they get psuedo tap, & bump & grind crapola I don't want to see! I want to put her back in gymnastics. Unfortunately, skating is an impossibility. You probably won't believe this but we do not have a ice skating rink in Metro Nola area! Not one, isn't that sad.

Maybe Alexis could do both? I totally agree with you on the bump and grind stuff...who wants to see little girls doing that? However, the place Caili takes ballet does a lot of the pseudo tap and the bump and grind, but her teacher is a classical ballerina, and her classes are real ballet. Are there teachers at some of these schools that specialize in classical ballet? Caili takes a gymnastics class once a week too. It is a good fundamentals class, but it isn't intense, which is good for me. I tell everyone I can only handle one expensive, stress-inducing sport at a time. Believe me, I was kidding about the figure skating (although it is too bad that you don't have any rinks in your area...too expensive to maintain I guess). It is a big commitment. People always ask me if Caili loves it. My response is if she didn't love it, we wouldn't do it!

Dinner tonight was semi-grilled chicken (I started it in the oven), rice, spinach with toasted pinenuts, and rolls. I didn't get the chance to take a picture because the kids were too hungry. It wasn't that impressive-looking anyway.

Kathy -- Liam included Kyle in his dinner grace tonight (Liam was very impressed with Kyle's form from your signature pic), so I am hoping Kyle and the team are having a great night.

Happy Birthday, Ann!!!!

I ended up with a Smart Ones. Salisbury steak and mac and cheese. It's about the same calorie amt of a bowl of cereal and it's more tasty.

Hi, everyone! Sorry I dropped of the face of the DIS for a while. Things have become so crazy! Luckily, things should slow down soon.

Our good news is that Leslie's foot is not broken, just a bad strain. She's doing fine, and is back running around the neighborhood. I'm busy helping with our school's huge fundraiser/carnival that is scheduled for May 19. I'll be so glad when it's over!!!! It's just way too much work! Had end of school meetings with the kids teachers, and overall I'm pleased with the way my kids have done. Katie is the top in her class in reading, spelling and composition. She is pulling A's also in science, history, keyboarding and a low B in math. Since I never did better than a B in math, I'm not complaining. Jacob is top in his GRADE for both reading and spelling. He's only missed 5 words all year long. He is also doing well in all other subjects. Mary is where she should be for starting 1st grade, and Leslie is in everything except reading. We'll keep up with that over the summer, and she'll be fine, hopefully!

Other than all that, I'm spending my "spare" time napping away my morning sickness which seems to hit about noon and not go away until evening. Makes cooking icky, but what are you going to do? The kids insist on eating!

Dinner tonight will be sweet and smoky chicken wraps. In fact, I need to get off the computer and go cook the chicken.

Thanks for worrying about me, guys! I've missed you all!

Sheryl- The dance class Kady takes have the ballet and jazz trio. She also takes "tumbling". This is where she shines but the ballet is the real deal. There has to be a dance academy in the area where Alexis can take dance, ask at your symphony hall who they ask to perform the Nutcracker, the kids are generally local.

Laura- Kady takes three classes a week and is being considered for the dance company, which is competitive. She was not on her best when the instructor came in to watch her so her teacher was disappointed. I figure that she is six and if she gets there and wants the commitment it is a good way to channel all of that energy as well as instill a little self discipline. Like Caili, if she did not like it getting her there would not be worth it.

I am making breakfast for dinner tonight.

Vera Wang? I swear designers these days seem to have their name on everything.

Meh, I wasn't drawn to the mattress because of that. It just happened to have her name on it.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Ann!

Happy Birthday, Ann!!!!
.

Thank you all for the warm wishes!

The weather is miserable here today. I am going to try to get an early start today. I bought DS cute sandals yesterday but I do not like how his chunky XW Fred Flintstone feet are fitting in them! :rotfl: So off to do that return and pick out something new.

Dinner will be at DP after taking DM grocery shopping.

:cheer2: Kathy, Good luck to Kyle... we got our fingers and toes crossed for you!:cheer2:

I am need some advice and I'm not finding it on Google (it's an odd search). I am wanting to get my mom, grandmother, and MIL rose corsages to give to them at church for Mother's Day. If I remember correctly, white and red roses each have a symbolism on Mother's Day. If you wear one color, it means your mother is leaving, the other color means your mother has passed.

Which is which?!?!? I can't remember!!! And I HAVE to get this right or I will be really embarrassed. This is a VERY odd Google search and I'm not getting answers.

Help!!!!!!

Here you go Lindsay,

The red rose signifies that your mom is living, and a white rose signifies she has passed away.
