Where's Lauren????
ETA: Never mind.....
Awwww, thanks for thinking of me!

Where's Lauren????
ETA: Never mind.....
It's not official as Kyle has not signed anything but it looks like Kyle's and our dream may be coming true. We have a local Junior College, Delgado, that has an excellent baseball program and it's just across the river(maybe a 20 minute drive). Kyle has always dreamed of being able to play here in NOLA. The Delgado baseball coach approached Johnny at the Shaw play-off game today and said he wants to meet with us as soon as our playoff season is over, he REALLY wants Kyle for his program and is ready to talk $$$ and make an offer but he doesn't want this to be a distraction while we're still playing for state championship. Needless to say we are ecstatic and he'll be staying home, ya know Mama likes that.
Thanks Lauren & Wendie.....![]()
We had this last night and it was TDF--if you like curry
Curried Chicken Wraps
Ina Garten
If Kady caught a squirrel no one would be eating it, she would drag out one of her harnesses, tie the poor thing up and then try to make it live in her doll house dressed in one of her Webkinz outfits!
I am just like Rachel Ray-I am not a chef-I am a cook..lol. So bear with me writing them down-if I can remember to do it right when I finish cooking we are good..lol cause (((((((((pssssst...most have NO recipe)))))))))) Sue
WFD- I am thinking brats and sauerkraut subs.
Since this thread is about friendship and food, I'll give you a brief rundown of my CA trip.
Greg would be happy if I served that. I was thinking fish though.
Ann has me tempted by the brats and sauerkraut, but I think I am going to stick with the fish tacos I had originally planned. It's time to take Caili and her friend to gymnastics. Have a good day everyone!
I think that describes most of us here. I don't use recipes most of the time either.
That is definately me. I just throw stuff in the pan that I want to eat together.
Saw an interesting thing about FoodTv yesterday and the "chefs" on there. Quite a few of them are not professional chefs and in some cases have no real cooking experience. Now Rachel Ray admits she is not a chef, just a cook. And they said that several peoples recipes won't work if you try them at home because they take a recipe that is supposed to be for 20-30 people and divide it down to 2-4 servings. Like Giada and Ingrid Hoffmann. Recipes by people like Bobby Flay are a good bet because of his professional experience.
I think it's sad that more & more of the New FoodTV stars aren't real chefs. I mean Paula & Rachel are good, but I want to see the fancy stuff too. I have made a few of Giada's recipes and was not disappointed. I made an Ingrid Hoffman tamale pie, that I had to "fix" up though.
Glynis- How is Leslie? I am not an advocate of complaining to the school but this is bad. How a teacher could determine that the injury was not enough to notify you and yet put ice on it is ridiculous! That teacher needs a refresher course to say the least. Your poor baby. I did like your description of the "America" event. I always got choked up for those songs but now more than ever.
Lindsay- strawberry- rhubarb is an awesome combination. My aunt always kept some rhubarb frozen so that she could make a filling or a sauce.
Yeah it is.
One of the things they talked about were some of the food combinations these people use, that some of them the flavors just do not go together.![]()
I lost you guys for a while... I go out of town on a business trip get behind on the DIS, then can't find you when I first looked around...

I'm not telling DH what it is unless he asks. He's never had tofu and thinks it's gross already.

Leslie is doing ok. She can put a little weight on her foot today, so she went to school. I did find out that her regular teacher was gone, so it was a substitute, and she just didn't follow procedure. The principal was really upset about it. When I got to the school this morning with Leslie, he came running out to the van, picked her up in his arms and took her right in to her class. He told me he'd watch out for her today and make sure she got on the bus ok. I'll meet the bus in about 20 minutes and pull her home in the wagon.
The radiologist at the hospital can't figure out the x-rays the clinic took. He thinks there is a fracture though. At this point, we've still got her splinted, and tomorrow we'll take her for more thorough x-rays at the hospital and go from there.

Yep, I've made a few of Rachel's that the flavors just didn't work. I think the training & experience of the "real" chefs makes quite a difference. I heard they didn't even renew Emeril's contract because they wanted to head in this new (non-chef) direction. Don't know if that's true or not, but I'm just not thrilled with the new cooks or shows, so far. I mean I've made Emeril's recipes & while some may be complicated & difficult, they always right.
I have no idea why a food channel would veer off to non chefs for the better part of their talent. I have made RR recipes too but I need to read all of the reviews to see if the ingredients were changed before I start and even then I monkey around with them.
You had to know when Emeril was moved to 7 PM it was the beginning of his end, and while I was not a fan of Mario Batali, he had plenty. Now he is gone. Sara was gone a long time ago. Yet Sandra Lee is alive and well![]()
