Laura, I have to get Andrew into those books. He is too much with the games. Maybe for when we go to Disney.

I think it is that way with all boys his age.

It's not official as Kyle has not signed anything but it looks like Kyle's and our dream may be coming true. We have a local Junior College, Delgado, that has an excellent baseball program and it's just across the river(maybe a 20 minute drive). Kyle has always dreamed of being able to play here in NOLA. The Delgado baseball coach approached Johnny at the Shaw play-off game today and said he wants to meet with us as soon as our playoff season is over, he REALLY wants Kyle for his program and is ready to talk $$$ and make an offer but he doesn't want this to be a distraction while we're still playing for state championship. Needless to say we are ecstatic and he'll be staying home, ya know Mama likes that.

Ron surprised me last night and made reservations for us to go to New Hampshire for Memorial Day weekend!!!! We are staying at the The Christmas Farm Inn & Spa...I am so excited ! He said consider it your birthday and mother's day gifts, works for me!

Before we got married he thought that he had lost his mind. Somehow something or something would come up and he would not remember agreeing to it. Then I would say "I could have sworn...." Well the poor man drives for a living and was alone all day every day working on his "memory" problem. I cannot remember how long it took before he figures out he had been had by the females in the family . My sons had been trained by their Mama and knew better than to save him.

They seemed to know she wasn't a threat because they wouldn't hop away whenever she was there. If Liam came into the yard though, they would flee. Caili has skating and Greg is going to the Red Sox game tonight, so I am just having some of the leftover Indian food for dinner tonight.

Nancy, Kady is "animal sparer"?! Too sweet! I wasn't in a very animal sparing mood a few minutes ago. I was watering the plants around the patio, When a squirrel tried to make a mad leap from the patio cover to the tree, right over my head! Scared the heck out of me, especially when I looked up & he was still grasping to hang on to the branch! I had a very clear mental picture of that squirrel landing on my face!

Thank God he is such a good sport! It doesn't help that Marisa and Erica spill the beans and then embellish it all just to see his reaction Before we got married he thought that he had lost his mind. Just a fly by..last night's WW sloppy joes were SOOOO good. Even my non-WW boyfriend loved them..i actually made a yummy salad of spinach, cranberries, walnuts and goat cheese to go with..MUCH healthier than the first requested french fries

Oooh....dinner, yeah I forgot about that!

Here's the leftover steak & roasted veggies, turned into a salad.

DH raised his eyebrows at me, while I was putting together the salad last night. He's fine with the warmed steak going in a salad, but had issues with the warmed veggies. Well I told him tough noogies, it's going to be good. And again I was right & he was wrong! (happy I'm right dance here!) His comments while eating " Well it is weird... but it's very good weird!"

I made a this Goat Cheese Salad dressing that I found on the net, to top it off. It was yummy.

Goat Cheese Salad Dressing
Chef Shaun Doty He serves this dressing, made with fresh Sweet Grass goat cheese, with mixed greens and marinated beets.

Makes 1 3/4 cups
Hands on: 10 minutes
Total time: 10 minutes
1/3 cup mayonnaise (homemade, if possible) * I used less mayo & a little olive oil
1/2 cup fresh goat cheese
3/4 cup heavy cream * used half & half
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 tablespoon chopped chives
1 tablespoon chopped parsley
1 tablespoon chopped basil * my addition
Juice from 3 lemons * used 1 large juicy lemon
Salt and pepper to taste
In a large mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise, goat cheese, cream, garlic powder, chives, parsley and lemon juice until well combined. Season dressing with salt and pepper to taste. Keep refrigerated.
Per tablespoon: 46 calories (percent of calories from fat, 88), 1 gram protein, 1 gram carbohydrates, trace fiber, 5 grams fat (1 gram saturated), 4 milligrams cholesterol, 34 milligrams sodium.

Ahhh yes- the annual NYE party for the elderly. We actually had to have it AFTER NYE this year because of bad weather. It was at noon on a Saturday. A good time was had by all.

Well, spring has sprung here as my weeping eyes, and running nose will attest! I hate allergies!!!!!

Gretchen - Glad Hailey got her ball and some treats last night. A nice bubble bath always works wonders for me, too!!!

Laura - I'm so glad that Liam is enjoying the Harry Potter series. My oldest daughter is reading them to Jacob. They are both getting a big kick out of that! She does accents and everything. Hmmm, perhaps she's watched the movies too much! I'm thinking of loading the books onto my ipod for her to listen to as we fly to London in June. I know she'd enjoy that!

Well, yesterday was a lot more exciting than I had bargained for! The twins came home from Kindergarten, and I could hear Leslie crying all the way down the street. I went out to get her, and she was hopping on her left foot, with tears streaming down her face. She couldn't tell me what happened, so Mary got to be the bearer of bad news. Seems that Leslie had jumped off the top of a slide on the playground at 9:00 in the morning, and hurt her foot quite badly. Now, I didn't get a phone call from the teacher or the school or anything. They just had her sit at her desk with her foot propped up with a bag of ice on it. Then they sent her home. She couldn't put any weight on it at all! I got her shoe and sock off and her foot was turning BLACK! Nice and bruised. I figured she had twisted her ankle, so I gave her some aspirin and propped her foot up and let her choose a movie. A couple of hours later, she's still crying and can't put any weight on her foot, so I load her and Mary in the van, and head to the Instacare Clinic. They took x-rays of her foot, found "an anomaly", so x-rayed her other foot to compare. They couldn't figure out if it is a fracture, or what, so they sent the x-rays to the hospital to be read (still haven't heard from them!). In the meantime, they splinted her foot and we got her back home.

By this time, it's time to head out to Hope of America. Now, I know Leslie is not going to be able to handle all the walking involved, stairs involved, etc., so I make a frantic phone call to my sister (her son was in the program, too), and asked if her oldest daughter could watch the twins and Jacob while Katie and I carpooled with her and Ian. She agreed, so I stopped for pizza, dropped off the kids, picked up sis and nephew, and off we went to the show. We got to the arena at 6:00 and had to wait an hour and a half for the show to start! There were over 7000 students performing, and over 25,000 people in the audience! Talk about a crush!!! I did think about Laura and Greg at one point, as the kids sang a song called "Thank you military". That had me in tears. The show ended at 8:45, and we were back at my sister's house by 9:45. Traffic was horrible!!!!! Another 25 minutes after that and we were all home and in bed! Can I just say that I ain't budging from my house, today!!!!! I'm staying in and napping!!!!! Of course, watch the hospital call me today and tell me to bring Leslie in for something! That would be my luck! Well, I did keep her home, so at least we'll be ready.

So, dinner tonight will be easy: spinach pizza pie. Alan will complain that the only meat is pepperoni, but it sounds good to me!

Just checking in. Last night was venison and that god awful left over noodle casserole. Tonight is going to be something with Pork, forzen pork at that (I forgot to take it out of the freezer before I left for work ) Any ideas?

Isn't that funny? Animals are like that with Hailey too. They all run from Patrick but with Hailey it is a different story. We were in our yard one day and I noticed the squirrels were really close to her and weren't moving away. Anyway, she ended up stepping on the tail of one it was so close. Both she and the squirrel jumped then.

And BTW - I agree that your husband was wrong about the hot veggies on a salad. Years ago there was a restaurant whose specialty was a fried chicken salad. It had a sweet and sour dressing and in it were chicken tenders and fried potato wedges. Not diet friendly, but delicious.

That's what makes me angriest! I just would like to know when something happens to my children. I called the principal this morning, and he said he and the office staff didn't even know anything had happened. He's going to talk to the teacher and find out where the breakdown in communication happened. I'm sure it was Leslie, not wanting to get into trouble for jumping off the equipment! Oh well, lesson learned!

Glynis, I would be livid with the school! They had her stay at school for the whole day & then walk (or take the bus) home?! I hope you get good news about the x-ray! Prayers for Leslie.

That salad was not very diet friendly at all either! But it was good. Bob surprised me his response to my salad, the man is usually pretty adventurous when it come to eating. I've finally convinced him that sweet/savory can work & now I'll just have to keep showing him that hot on cold can be good too!

Here's the recipe for the spinach pizza pie:

Spinach Pizza Pie
Servings: 6

1 pkg. Refrigerated pie crusts
1 can pizza sauce (1 cup)
1 jar (4.5 oz) sliced mushrooms, drained
1/4 C. sliced ripe olives
1 1/2 C. shredded Mozzarella cheese
2 pkg. (9 oz each) frozen chopped spinach, thawed, squeezed to drain
1 tsp. Olive or vegetable oil
1 Tbs. Grated Parmesan cheese

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Lightly spray 9-inch glass pie plate with cooking spray.

Place one piecrust into bottom and up side of pie plate.

In small bowl, mix pizza sauce and mushrooms; spoon onto dough in plate. Layer with olives, 3/4 cup of the mozzarella cheese, the spinach and remaining 1/4-cup mozzarella cheese.

Top with second piecrust. Pinch edges of dough together to seal; roll up edge of dough or flute to form rim. Cut several slits in dough. Brush with oil; sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until deep golden brown. Cut into wedges.

Like I mentioned before, I like to add pepperoni to ours. But that's up to you.

The hospital may have you take her to an orthopedist. I know around here if they can't see anything because of swelling they will refer you and just splint it.
