The All-New "unofficial" AKL/AKV's Jambo & Kidani FAQ thread.....

I am new to the board and haven't read through all the posts, but can you explain what you mean by having a guaranteed view of animals? Are you saying that if you stay CL you aren't guaranteed the view?

AKV (ie. DVC) CL rooms aren't guaranteed to be savannah view, but, I'm pretty sure the AKL CL rooms are all savannah view.

AKL CL rooms are all savannah view. AKV Cl is half pool half savannah (I think thats the ratio).

Thank you both-we are booked for Dec trip and are staying AKL CL, so I'm glad for the savannah view. I also didn't realize that AKV is for DVC guests.

I've scanned through as many pages as I can possible get through and I haven't found anything on my question, so I'm going to ask it:

What type of beer do they carry at Victoria Falls Lounge? DH and I like to try different types of beer and we were wondering if there were any that we may not have seen other places.

Also, can you order a drink there and leave the lounge? We will have our 2 girls with us and I'm wondering if DH could go down and buy 2 drinks to bring back to the room.

Let me just say that we aren't looking to get trashed....we usually take a 6 pack of beer with us, but we usually only have 1 each the whole trip, so I'm trying to see if we can bypass the "bringing of the beer".

:goodvibes

Hi and welcome. When will you be coming/going? We're staying in the same spot (AKL/CL), but arriving the day after Thanksgiving.

It's a guaranteed view. All the CL rooms are on the 4th floor, either Kudu or Zebra Trail, facing the Arusha Savanna (the main one right off the lobby). AKL CL is wonderful -- enjoy!!!:cloud9:

we stayed in a standard studio @ Kidani in Sept. our view was out into main lobby parking lot near the buses. We could see when people who were coming to meet us got off the buses which was nice. The view throughout the lobby and waiting for the elevators was nice because we saw the animals then. Plus, there was plenty of time to walk around and see the animals. And we didn't spend all that much time in the room during the day anyway. So, for us having the bad view wasn't a huge deal. Just the experience of being at AKL or Kidani was awesome.

We are arriving Dec 4th and are so excited. We have never been to AKL, so this will be treat! And I guess it doesn't really matter where you room is located on the 4th floor-it sounds like we should have a view of animals from any room in CL.

Hi there! We just booked out Aug trip for 8 nights at AKL.:goodvibes
I just read through most of the thread and did have one question.
When we booked our room DH asked the CM if we could use the pool at Kidani. (We are staying in a pool view room @ Jambo)...I think I read a few pages back that you could use the pool @ Kidani Village if staying at the Jambo House...but the CM told use we couldn't.
Has that changed? Can we use the pool there? :confused3
TIA. :flower3:

I believe that pool is for DVC only, but I don't think there are pool police over there. There *could* be, but don't take my word for it. ;)

we stayed at Kidani and as far as i know they don't check room keys or anything...but if it is especially crowded they may.. (they do have a gate with a key card to open it there, but we never needed to use it because it was always open when we went in)

This is actually not the case. I've asked the IPO office just this week, plus when we stayed at AKL this past summer we were told that both pools are available for all AKL/AKV guests! Also, our AKL key card opened all the gates at Kidani. So enjoy them both!!!:goodvibes

I believe that BLT is the only DVC-only pool at WDW...

Well, until this past December, I would have agreed with you. However, one evening when we were there Donald & Daisy and Chip & Dale showed up. I realize that it was because of the holidays, but... they did show up!

how cool...we were there last December too...we never got lucky enough to see them

I agree, even the little leaflet you get which lists all the services at the hotel mentions both pools and does not state that the Kidani pool is for Kidani guests only.

Also, when we were at the Kidani pool in January, there only was a very simple lock at the pool entrance, it looked like there was a place where there could have been a lock which reqired a key card, but there wasn't such a lock.

I have a pool view booked and have requested the Giraffe Trail, in order to be closer to the front door and buses. Looking at the map though, it looks like there is an elevator midway down the Giraffe Trail that opens up to the outside. Is there one for the guests and does it open up to the walkway going to the buses like it appears to on the map? Is there any way to get from your room on the Giraffe Trail directly down to the pool, without having to use the main elevator right off the lobby?

We're checking out, as you're coming in... If you see a little blonde haired boy in the room, his name is Ian - and his is very much a three year old. Sometimes he bites, and makes wild animal sounds - so you might mistake him for some of the local wildlife that should be out on the trail. I may or may not have accidentally left him ;)
*note - I'm seriously kidding. He's adorable, and i love him. He's just a handful. :)

Hi AKL fans :)

I'm popping on to learn more about all that AKL has to offer. I was wondering if anyone has a picture or a list of the recent activities that are offered at the resort? We're planning an Easter trip next year and AKL is one of my top choices. I'd like to get an idea of what is offered and at what time :)

I'm excited to see that the Kidani pool is available to everyone! Is there a page where they have pictures of this pool? Thanks in advance for your help, I look forward to chatting with you all!

There was a working card lock in May
