The All-New "unofficial" AKL/AKV's Jambo & Kidani FAQ thread.....

There's a small room past the concierge desk on the left, right near where the DVC desk is. It's kind of like a study. I was in there one day for several hours, and saw only 2 or 3 people come in to check out the balcony. You could lay him out there, and there are chairs for you that you can turn around and look out the full-length glass windows at the savannah.

That's the Sunset Lounge - and there are various activities scheduled in there at various times of the day ... so check the schedule before you plan on spending some "quiet time" there ... :lmao:

You could also just grab a lounge chair by the pool ...

And there are small overlooks off the hallways on each side of the "big window" that overlook the Arusha Savannah - they may be quiet, too ...

Thanks snykymom and joelp! Very good suggestions. Based on your recommendations, it sounds like there are quite a few places that we could lay him down to rest and be out of people's way. :flower3:

Wondering if they have the two savannahs named? they don't have names on the maps i have seen just pictures of the river hog on one side and the giraffe on the other. Thanks for your help. Also we are going to book a savannah view 2 BR in the villiage but wonder if we could ask for a villa near the pool.

Hey everyone!! I'm heading down to my first AKL stay on Saturday!!!

We have a pool view and I was wondering if I should make a request for a certain location? Giraffe trail? Zebra trail? A certain area?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I tried to skim through the pages of this thread but couldnt find anything!

Thank you! :)

Which villa's do you prefer? Jambo or Kidani? We have a pin code that we can use for a 1 bedroom, I'm leaning towards Kidani for the extra bathroom. How's the bus transportation? That's one thing that's holding me back.

Hey Folks -

What supermarket would you recommend for someone staying at Kidani ? And if they don't sell liquor is there one nearby ?

I think Goodings (or Crossings can't remember) is near DTD and kinda pricey, not sure what the best way to go is for folks staying at Kidani.

Thanks in advance,

Chris

I asked this question on a previous post and was told that giraffe trail has the best views. As we like a clear view of a pool I also requested that as some rooms have quite dense foliage.

:cool1: Have fun and post lots of details and pics when you get back.

Thank you! I will :)

Thanks so much!! That's exactly what I was looking for :) I'll send in my fax tomorrow (if I remember!)

Have a wonderful trip! I think all pool view locations are good, you will be close to the pool and Mara, the CS restaurant. Giraffe trail is closer to the bus stops (there is a direct exit), but if your room is on Zebra trail, you can see out through some windows over the savanna when walking back to your room. As the PP mentioned, if you want a clear view of the poo, not hiddne behind grenery, you might want to request that. :goodvibes

Bumping in hopes of getting an answer.

Thanks,

We just got back from a weeks stay and LOVE it! We had a savanna view room. Which I don't think we will do again. Not worth the points since we didn't see many animals out our window.
We loved the hotel! We can't imagine staying any where else!

We where in room 7460 any one know what Savanna we where overlooking? Could the no animal issue be because of the savanna we had???

My recommendation for shopping is to order from garden grocer. They have a list online and can also get other items (including alcohol) if you list them in the comments section. They'll deliver to you and we had a good experience when we used them.

We will only be ordering water and alcohol (beer and wine) :rolleyes1 maybe a six pack of bagels? :guilty: just so we don't look like total :drinking1 Any ideas on who would be best (interprete as "cheapest")?

Chris, the closest is a Publix. When you leave AKL, take a right onto Sherbeth Road. Take it to 192 and again go right (West). There's a Publix on the right in a shopping center not far at all. They also carry wine and beer although I don't remember the selection. There is a small liquor store right next to Publix. There is also a Super Target on the left or South side right before Rt. 27.

Is there a list of activities offered at AKL? We visited several years ago and they had a lot of programming, but it seems many things have been cut back in recent years.
Thank you,
