Welcome!

:scared1:That's a BIG responsibility! I'd be nervous, and excited! And the GF at xmas will be SO beautiful!

We love the MK views from Boca Chica, both because of the location of the building and because from our rooms there we could see the whole lagoon from the Poly to the CR to the MK & the castle. Those rooms are right on the lagoon with just a small strip of grass between the balconies and the water. Plus, the EWP was floating right in front of us each night.:cloud9:

There are other buildings that have a straight-on view of the castle (it's to the left in Boca Chica) and I know other posters here prefer those rooms, so hopefully someone else will chime in here.:) Those rooms are by the marina -- just not my preference.;)
Thank you for the reply:goodvibes

The ages and interests in our party widely vary. When we do our annual Cruises the only requirement is that we all meet for a nice long dinner and share what we did that day. So our restaurant reservations will be the most important.
I have made it absolutely clear how very very busy the parks will be so everyone knows what to expect. Other than my family of four the rest of them have only been at Easter.. so they are prepared for crowds. And the older members of our group don't really do any rides but prefer wandering around and shopping e.t.c so they will be fine.
I have already whipped into Type A planning mode:rolleyes1
I think I will make each room booklets that contain their dining reservation information and some other hints and tips.
I think all in all I am going to plan as well as I can .. and then make sure that our expectations are in line with the crowds that time of year.
Christmas holidays at the GF.. who can complain? I can't possibly explain what a dream come true this is for us:cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:

Hi everyone we just got back today from 7 wonderful days at the GF. We had one of the best views of the MK. We were in 5344 and 5345 (Sago). We had a view of castle, Space Mountain and Bay Lake Tower/Contemporary. The fireworks were directly in front of our room. (They are actually to the left of the castle for the most part).

Here is a picture from early morning from our balcony. One of many to come.

I was just wondering what category these rooms are, we are going in a big group and would love rooms that were close. I guess I'm wondering how many beds....thanks

Both those views are of Theme Park View at the GF. Standard rooms at the GF sleep 5 (2 queens and a daybed). There are some exceptions (no daybed or King rooms) but in general rooms at GF have 2 queens and a daybed.

pigletto Sounds like you have everything under control! How nice to be at the GF around the holidays...just beautiful!!:cloud9: How lucky for the family to have someone so organized to put everything together...:)

Some suggestions...have you thought about maybe a fireworks crusie for the whole group or speaking to the grand gatherings office about other opportunities that are just for big groups...there might be something you'd all enjoy ....

Narcoosees might be nice for one of your dinners...or the Cali Grille... either place is nice for dining and Wishes viewing...appeal for all ages...

Have a great trip!:flower3:

I can't wait to go to the Grand for a holiday, I probably will go some where else next year but nothing looks as good as a holiday at disney I think I am hooked!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, longtime lurker -- first time poster. ;)

My fiancé and I are considering the GF for our honeymoon later this year. I've always wanted to go there and he's stayed there several times over the years with his family.

I feel we need to hurry up and get something booked so I don't want to wait too much longer. Should we use a TA or book ourselves?

Would you say it's romantic enough? Is there a better choice? What activities, entertainment or recreation is not to be missed?

Budget's not really the object in this instance so I'm open to all choices.

Thanks for any & all advice.

MG

Mousey Girl :welcome: and congratulations on your upcoming wedding and honeymoon!!

I think that the GF would be a perfect place for a honeymoon!! So many romantic spots, nice restaurants...just a wonderful place to be to make memories....:lovestruc

Hi, I have a silly question. I read somewhere that all rooms have turn down service.

We have a Garden View booked and were wondering if this was something that we could expect??

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

Not silly at all. Yes, the GF is the only WDW resort that offers automatic turn-down service for ALL rooms.

MNDisney Not only do they turn down the beds...they put some very yummy chocolates out for a little bedtime treat!:flower3: As if being in that beautiful room at the GF wouldnt be enough to give you sweet dreams...:cloud9:

Thanks for the info everyone!!

I stayed at the GF when it first opened, my parents got a $99 Florida discount deal. I remember waking up to the sounds of the Haunted Mansion. There was a problem with our room and they put us in another one (we actually had to turn back in the key to the presidential suite because they found something else). I remember they turned down the beds and left a basket with chocolate and a flower, but I don't know what kind of room we were in. So I thought we would ask.

Welcome! Yes, I think that the GF is a romantic resort. It's so pretty, and the gardens, pools, and views are lovely. :cloud9:

Oh my! I've just finished going through this whole thread! :surfweb:
What alot of information and I bet I'll still ask questions that have been asked! LOL;)

Anyways, we've just booked a bounceback to the Grand Floridian from our stay at the POFQ. FQ was OK, but nothing like our memories of RPC and SL stays many, many years ago.
Problem is that we cannot afford CL this year, ecstatic we're staying GF GV though!

We were looking at the Poly, but not for the holidays, after looking at all of the photos online, the Grand won us over.

You ladies are just lovely.
I can't think anything at this moment. But, I know I will. :lovestruc

Oh, yes, do all the rooms have the same toiletries that you all are raving about?:cloud9:

Congratulations! The GF at Christmas....:cloud9:

All the rooms have the H2O spa line which is lovely.

WOW!! I'm so excited for our first trip to GF! After reading the threads and seeing all the great pictures, my only down feeling is that we'll only be there for 4 days! But a short stay is better than no stay!!! Traveling with DH and DD14 for my 40th bday. Staying RPC.... can't wait :cool1:

Welcome! A 40th bday at the GF in RPC sounds like a great treat! And a short stay is definitely better than no stay at all! Hey -- it looks like we have some overlap -- we're staying there for a few days at the beginning of August!
