The all new extension to Tagliarchy Island.

Okay,

Here's a quickie... the suitcases are still in the car since we didn't get home until 12:30 a.m. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

We went to my DSIL and DBIL's house in CincY last Wednesday night, then got up and drove to Indy on Thurs. am. to catch a noon plane to Orlando. The times were better and it was cheaper than flying from CincY or Columbus. We arrived in Orlando on time, were greeted by a Disney Cruise Line rep and never even had to look at our luggage. It magically appeared in our rooms at the Beach Club. We just had time to check in and take the bus to MK, then a boat to WL for our dinner at Whispering Canyon. It was a lot of fun, but because we were a group of 24, they would only give us a 5:00 p.m. ressie and they put us kind of in an alcove. Our servers were not very raucous, but they were good with the kids... made them all kinds of funny hats out of bandanas, made them stand on the chairs and yell for ketchup, etc. A ressie at 6:00 when things were already rolling and for tables out in the floor would have been better. Still, we had a blast. That night, we went to MK and rode Buzz Lightyear, the Carousel of Progress, and watched the Spectromagic Parade and saw Wishes. Spectromagic always makes me cry. I would give my left arm to be able to be younger again and be able to work as a character! I still can't get the music out of my head!
Wishes was lovely, as well, but we were in front of the castle and it was as crowded as any mosh pit I've ever seen at a concert! It took us over an hour to work our way up main street and finally catch a bus, but that was a small price to pay for such magic.

The next morning (friday) we got up for an 8:00 ressie at Donald's Breakfastasaurus. Again, we were 24 people in an alcove, and the kids just lined up to meet the characters and get a picture made when they came in the room and so it wasn't quite as personal as the character meals we've had there before when we were in a small group. There was just less time with the characters for each kid... more like being in line in the park.
Food was great, and then we went out and I rode Primeval Whirl with the kids. It didn't make me sick, but it should have. It was the best ride!!! Have any of you ridden it? I laughed the whole time ... what a riot! Then we rode Kali River Rapids and my Katie was the one that got totally soaked. We then rode the Safari, which was okay. They didn't have the feedback on the radio from "command central" about the poachers, though, and I thought it was less dramatic with that missing. Then we saw Festival of the Lion King. that was FANTASTIC. I'd never seen it and highly recommend it, whether or not you have kids to see it.
Then we went back to the Beach Club and spent the afternoon in Stormalong Bay. I had forgotten how great the sand feels on your feet after a day in the park. For dinner, about 11 of us went to Rose and Crown pub for dinner and scored 3 tables on the verandah!!! So we saw Illuminations from there, sipping wine and having a great time.

The next morning was Cindy's Breakfast at 8:55 and it was, as always, delightful. We did several things in Magic Kingdom then... Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear twice, and also saw Mickey's Philharmagic. That was also a first, and we loved it so much! I love Donald Duck anyway and when he was with Ariel it was sooo cute. Hmmm... .then we went to MGM to ride the Rockin' Roller Coaster, then we waited for a while to see Who Wants to be a Millionaire. It was ESPN weekend, so the show was a bit longer, and had two famous hockey coaches sitting in the hot seat with the contestant to give him a hand. I've forgotten who they were, but I'll remember and put it in my real trip report on the boards later, if you are curious. The questions were all sports ones, so I never made it to the top ten on the board, but each of my girls were in the top ten at one time!!! They know nothing about sports!!! That was funny. Some of us then rode the Tower of Terror (not me ... one of the kids was tired and wanted to go back to swim, so I was the good mom and took her.) After a short swim at the pool, we saw a double rainbow! It was so pretty and a good omen of the cruise to come. That night, we went back to MK, ate fast food, watched Spectromagic and Wishes again, and went back to the hotel.

Sunday morning was a bit of a fiasco for me... I took a bus over to the All Star Movies to see what it looked like, since I have a client going there in October and had never seen it. I had to be back at the Beach Club to catch the Cruise bus at 11:45, so I allowed myself plenty of time to get back. EXCEPT that a bus driver at All Stars told me I could get back to Beach Club by riding to Typhoon Lagoon then getting the bus back to BC from there. Little did I know how far Typhoon Lagoon was from BC, nor that they don't run buses from TL BACK to BC very often until later in the day. I waited for a bus for 30 minutes, and finally caught one to Downtown Disney instead. When I told that bus driver how I had been waiting and how I was going to miss my cruise bus because of the bad info from the All Stars driver, he said he'd help me. When we got to DD, the BC bus was just leaving. He stopped the bus, took me out into the middle of the street at the bus stop and made the BC driver stop and let me on!!! What a sweetheart. The new bus driver was mad and said he wasn't supposed to do that, but when I explained my predicament, he let me on. We still had two more stops at Dd, then had to stop at TL (which would have been my bus, eventually after all), then Swan, then Dolphin, then YC, and finally BC. I ran into the Solarium exactly 3 minutes before we boarded the DCL bus. My DH was fit to be tied! I had been in touch by phone, but we were all pretty nervous. But, everything works out when Mickey is involved, so we took off for the cruise ship at 11:45 on Sunday.

Okay, that's the WDW part, now I'll post this and then do the cruise.

;)

I'll read your story in a second but I want to get this post out quick iluvtink.
For the Record, I tried to STOP the fighting. I thought RRBB was right. I agreed with her. And I hope she returns soon.

By the way. THANKS for the artifact. I still can't access the Color Wheel(will ask my parents to help) I know someone who's name starts with RR and ends with BB that is a GREAT friend of mine that gave me it. As soon as I get enough room I will attempt to put it in.

Yup. Thanks. I'm going to try to find TheBellHop there too. He'll be staying here as me and my family are. I'm going to tell everyone I'm MonorailDude until I find him.:sunny:

Sounds like you had a blast iluvtink. It's a good job you got back in time for the bus for the cruise.

I can't wait to here about the cruise. I have never been on one but would love to one day.

You could leave a note at the front desk for him and they will deliver it to his room. Then you can arrange to meet up (if that is OK with your parents.) We have done that before when our friends have checked in and we didn't know where they were.

Oh I forgot one snafu at BC. The Cruise Desk at BC is only manned on Friday and Saturday from about 8:00 a.m. until noon or 1:00. We got several messages saying we needed to check in for the boat at BC to avoid the lines in the Port Canaveral terminal, but we were never told a deadline. (Just that Saturday was the last day to show up.) So my friend checked in Saturday a.m. before Cindy's and called to tell me that I needed to check in before 1:00 to be pre-checked. My DSIL and I left MK early and got back to the BC at 12:30 to check in and the fairly snooty DCL CM told us that we were too late and the bag had been sent at 10:00 a.m.!!!! I was not happy and my DSIL was livid. When our friend told the DCL CM that we would be back before 1:00 to check-in, she never said a word about needed to be there before 10:00! She just said, "okay, we'll see them then." If she had told us we should be there by 10:00, we would have made it. The CM's attitude was kind of just a "tough luck" ... not at all the Disney customer service I am accustomed to. So, when we got to the boat, all the other members of our party went right on board, and we had to go stand in line. Fortunately, the Castaway Club line was non-existent, so we were able to immediately check in. That check-in agent was appalled when we explained the debaucle at the BC, and told us to be sure and register the complaint with DCL when we got home (which I will do.) When we arrived on the gangplank, the crew officers are standing on both sides of the lobby and they announced our family's arrival and everyone clapped. Kind of like when Cinderella arrived at the ball! That was cool. We found our staterooms, got settled in, and went to the sail-away deck party. After that, we had a 6:00 dinner seating, and there was some confusion with the seating. We had a couple of families mixed into our tables that weren't part of our magical gathering and even though we were supposed to have one table of adults and one of kids, it didn't work out that way the first night. We were at Triton's, and had a wonderful time in spite of milling around 10 minutes before being seated. Then we saw the Hercules musical. I was so dead, I went to bed after that with the girls and all the DH's went to ESPN Skybox.

The next morning I woke up as we were approaching Nassau so I sat out on the verandah and watched. It was lovely and I finally felt relaxed. After breakfasting in Parrot Cay, part of us went to the straw market. It always depresses me, because we have so much and yet still feel the need to haggle over a dollar or two on souvenirs. I finally found an older, toothless lady and bought a straw trivet from her at her price. She was surprised and obviously pleased not to have to haggle, and it made me feel better. After getting back on the ship, we spent the afternoon at the pool. Dinner was at Animators Palate, and was scrumptious. Then they had a guy named Taylor Mason (ventriloquist/comedian) as the show and he was absolutely fantastic. It was the first time I laughed til I cried since riding Primeval Whirl. If you ever have a chance to see him --- don't miss it! We also did a little shopping, and then DH went to the room with the girls, and I went to another deck party with the rest of our families that hadn't conked out. We danced the Mickey Macarena and the Electric Slide and who knows what else? I danced whenever I could to try to counteract the calories I consumed at all meals. We did the midnight buffet that night and I was good - only one strawberry whipped cream crepe drizzed with chocolate, and a small sliver of cheesecake!

The next morning we were at Castaway Cay and were some of the first ones off the ship. Unfortunately, we had high winds and rain, but we staked out our claims on umbrellas, lounge chairs and a hammock, and waited about 30 minutes under the shelters for the storm to blow over. It was then a beautiful day on the beach ... couldn't have been better. My friends talked me into snorkeling, which is no small feat, since the only time I ever tried it was on our honeymoon, and that was a failure. (my mask never sealed right, I kept swallowing salt water, when I realized I couldn't touch bottom I panicked and swam to shore in record time, and would never try it again.) This time, I was able to relax, focus on the breathing underwater, (which is not a normal thing for someone who can't swim) and it was so cool! I was so proud to have conquered my fear and when it was over my head, I just had to tell myself that the vest would hold me up and I didn't panic. We saw the submarine, lots of sunken chests, urns, etc., and lots of fish, too. We found Mickey underwater and when my niece descended to get her picture made with him, his head spun around backwards when she touched it. She came back up to tell us that his head was backwards, and another mom went down to fix it. When the niece went back down with her camera, Mickey was headless! It had come off in the mom's hands and she brought it to the surface to show us. That was the third laughing til I cried time, and I got to hold Mickey's head. It was very heavy, and then some guy swam up and I think he thought we were going to try to keep it. He wasn't a Disney employee, and he didn't find it funny at all that Mickey's head had come off. The mom explained that it was an accident and then took it down and screwed it back on, so Mickey was once again in tact. What a dork! As if we'd steal Mickey's head. That would be sacrilege to a Disney lover! Duh! I snorkeled for almost 2 hours! A whole new world! Just loved it. Then a storm blew in very quickly, the lifeguards went nuts getting everyone out of the water, and we were again pelted with wind, rain, and sand getting back to the ship. Then we went to a special reception for Castaway Club members and met the captain, yada yada yada. An hour later, we were sipping wine at Palo. They gave us a private room and fed us more food than was humanly possible to eat. Delicious. Yummy. Feel the fat just blubbing on!

That night, we saw the Golden Mickeys show, which was great. We were in the front row and had perfect seats. After that, the kids went to Studio Sea and back to the room. DH and I, my DSIL and DBIL, and one other couple went to Wavebands to check it out. The rest of our part came and thought it was lame and left, along with my DSIL. Well, they missed it! While we were dancing to 70's music, the crew staff gave my DH and our friend, Carrie, glow in the dark necklaces, then they gave my DBIL a Mickey medal on a ribbon to wear. After about 30 minutes of dancing, they told the people with necklaces and medals to stay on the dance floor and the rest of us to go sit down. They took all the men off the stage, which left 3 women, one of which was Carrie. They then had each of them lip sync "I will survive" by Gloria Gaynor, one by one. They didn't get to see each other perform, but each had a feather boa and was supposed to sway the judges and audience to choose them as the best. The best part was that the judges were the 3 men with glow necklaces, one of them being my DH! Carrie was 3rd and was so funny ... swinging her hips and flipping her boa. She was the best! Then.... the 3 women became judges and the three men judges had to lip sync "Staying Alive" by John Travolta!!! Yep, my DH was the Disco Dude! He was third and instead of a boa, their prop was a white jacket. I would have given anything to have brought my video camera! My DH was last, and he took the MC's purple fedora and wore that with the white jacket, then danced and stripped off the jacket while he was dancing. Once more, I was laughing til I cried. Last, but not least, the 5 remaining men came out (my very shy DBIL included) and they had Village People hats, (DBIL was Sailor Boy)... they stripped off their shirts and did the YMCA dance on stage. OH MY GOSH!!!! You would have to be there... there's no way I can describe it. I was dying! And after only two pix of DBIL, my camera battery died. (His comment was, "there is a God.")

Wednesday was an at-sea day. Very relaxed, hot, balmy and lovely weather. We had a late breakfast at Parrot Cay, then DH went to a talk on how the Magic and Wonder were built, and I don't know what I did. Pool time, I think. Then at 2:30, DD11 got her hair braided on the boat, and I missed the galley tour. I really want to do that next time. We stayed on deck and watched the Wonder try to outrun yet another storm, which it could not. During our dinner back at Triton's, you could see lightning, waves, etc, but I never felt any motion. The Wonder is well-stabilized! They had the flaming Baked Alaska parade, then the Servers' parade, and we all had a little of all of the desserts. We saw the Disney Dreams Musical, which is very sweet, then went back to the room to pack, since bags had to be in the hall by 11:00. My DH took kids to the "Til We Meet Again" party with the characters and I got the bags packed and into the hall by 10:30. Then we went to Shutters and bought a few pix of the kids, one of the whole big group, and threw the rest that had me in it away. I thought I'd lost weight ... my clothes showed it but my face didn't. Just call me Puff Kimmy... burn those photos!!!! ;)

The next morning, we sadly ate breakfast, said our farewells to our servers, and debarked at 8:00 a.m. , fortunately before the bomb scare that kept 330+ people on the ship for an extra hour or so. Spent all day traveling, airport sitting, making connections and driving home, discussing Vacation Club and whether we are going to buy in or not. Gotta think about that one for a couple of days.

Well, that's it in a nutshell. I'll copy and embellish it for an Official Trip Report later, but my Tagliarchy friends get the first edition! Gotta take Katie to math tutoring and then mow the 6" grass. Back to the real world. No wonder I am so .

We should take a TAG cruise ... who is interested???

:earsgirl: iluvtink

Sounds like the cruise was fun too. I would have loved to have seen the mums face when Mickeys head came off in her hands

Wow iluvtink! What an amazing trip you had. I've been on a couple of cruises & they aren't really my thing, but you make me want to try DCL!!! Here's my favorite part of your whole report:

What a dork! As if we'd steal Mickey's head.

Too funny.

welcome home Tink. sounds like you had a great time...

::yes:: yep when can we cruise again???

I do too.:(
Is that a new pic. in your sig. Seems different.

Hey everybody!!

Today was the last day of camp, but I have to get up early again tomorrow so we can go shopping because of tax-free weekend and (hopefully) beat the crowds!!

Ummmm.... oh yeah... Almost forgot...today at camp during a break I met this really cute and nice guy, but the only bad thing is that he's a freshman. I don't really want to 'go out' with someone that is younger than me. What do ya'll think? Plus he's shorter than me, and I've always had bad experiences with guys shorter than me (I can give you some of the stories if you want me to....). It's not that I'm really superficial, it's just...you know.... I hope!!

I guess that's it! I'll be quiet now....
