Okay,
Here's a quickie... the suitcases are still in the car since we didn't get home until 12:30 a.m. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
We went to my DSIL and DBIL's house in CincY last Wednesday night, then got up and drove to Indy on Thurs. am. to catch a noon plane to Orlando. The times were better and it was cheaper than flying from CincY or Columbus. We arrived in Orlando on time, were greeted by a Disney Cruise Line rep and never even had to look at our luggage. It magically appeared in our rooms at the Beach Club. We just had time to check in and take the bus to MK, then a boat to WL for our dinner at Whispering Canyon. It was a lot of fun, but because we were a group of 24, they would only give us a 5:00 p.m. ressie and they put us kind of in an alcove. Our servers were not very raucous, but they were good with the kids... made them all kinds of funny hats out of bandanas, made them stand on the chairs and yell for ketchup, etc. A ressie at 6:00 when things were already rolling and for tables out in the floor would have been better. Still, we had a blast. That night, we went to MK and rode Buzz Lightyear, the Carousel of Progress, and watched the Spectromagic Parade and saw Wishes. Spectromagic always makes me cry. I would give my left arm to be able to be younger again and be able to work as a character! I still can't get the music out of my head!
Wishes was lovely, as well, but we were in front of the castle and it was as crowded as any mosh pit I've ever seen at a concert! It took us over an hour to work our way up main street and finally catch a bus, but that was a small price to pay for such magic.
The next morning (friday) we got up for an 8:00 ressie at Donald's Breakfastasaurus. Again, we were 24 people in an alcove, and the kids just lined up to meet the characters and get a picture made when they came in the room and so it wasn't quite as personal as the character meals we've had there before when we were in a small group. There was just less time with the characters for each kid... more like being in line in the park.
Food was great, and then we went out and I rode Primeval Whirl with the kids. It didn't make me sick, but it should have. It was the best ride!!! Have any of you ridden it? I laughed the whole time ... what a riot! Then we rode Kali River Rapids and my Katie was the one that got totally soaked. We then rode the Safari, which was okay. They didn't have the feedback on the radio from "command central" about the poachers, though, and I thought it was less dramatic with that missing. Then we saw Festival of the Lion King. that was FANTASTIC. I'd never seen it and highly recommend it, whether or not you have kids to see it.
Then we went back to the Beach Club and spent the afternoon in Stormalong Bay. I had forgotten how great the sand feels on your feet after a day in the park. For dinner, about 11 of us went to Rose and Crown pub for dinner and scored 3 tables on the verandah!!! So we saw Illuminations from there, sipping wine and having a great time.
The next morning was Cindy's Breakfast at 8:55 and it was, as always, delightful. We did several things in Magic Kingdom then... Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear twice, and also saw Mickey's Philharmagic. That was also a first, and we loved it so much! I love Donald Duck anyway and when he was with Ariel it was sooo cute. Hmmm... .then we went to MGM to ride the Rockin' Roller Coaster, then we waited for a while to see Who Wants to be a Millionaire. It was ESPN weekend, so the show was a bit longer, and had two famous hockey coaches sitting in the hot seat with the contestant to give him a hand. I've forgotten who they were, but I'll remember and put it in my real trip report on the boards later, if you are curious. The questions were all sports ones, so I never made it to the top ten on the board, but each of my girls were in the top ten at one time!!! They know nothing about sports!!! That was funny. Some of us then rode the Tower of Terror (not me ... one of the kids was tired and wanted to go back to swim, so I was the good mom and took her.) After a short swim at the pool, we saw a double rainbow! It was so pretty and a good omen of the cruise to come. That night, we went back to MK, ate fast food, watched Spectromagic and Wishes again, and went back to the hotel.
Sunday morning was a bit of a fiasco for me... I took a bus over to the All Star Movies to see what it looked like, since I have a client going there in October and had never seen it. I had to be back at the Beach Club to catch the Cruise bus at 11:45, so I allowed myself plenty of time to get back. EXCEPT that a bus driver at All Stars told me I could get back to Beach Club by riding to Typhoon Lagoon then getting the bus back to BC from there. Little did I know how far Typhoon Lagoon was from BC, nor that they don't run buses from TL BACK to BC very often until later in the day. I waited for a bus for 30 minutes, and finally caught one to Downtown Disney instead. When I told that bus driver how I had been waiting and how I was going to miss my cruise bus because of the bad info from the All Stars driver, he said he'd help me. When we got to DD, the BC bus was just leaving. He stopped the bus, took me out into the middle of the street at the bus stop and made the BC driver stop and let me on!!! What a sweetheart. The new bus driver was mad and said he wasn't supposed to do that, but when I explained my predicament, he let me on. We still had two more stops at Dd, then had to stop at TL (which would have been my bus, eventually after all), then Swan, then Dolphin, then YC, and finally BC. I ran into the Solarium exactly 3 minutes before we boarded the DCL bus. My DH was fit to be tied! I had been in touch by phone, but we were all pretty nervous. But, everything works out when Mickey is involved, so we took off for the cruise ship at 11:45 on Sunday.
Okay, that's the WDW part, now I'll post this and then do the cruise.
