The all new extension to Tagliarchy Island.

the school will probably ask her to do the yearbook too. Our CM consultant runs that for our school and it is quite a work of scrapbook art..

geffric, actually where I want to send him does K-12, and the older kids do the year-book there.

:bounce:

OMG, I want classroom mums in England. All that stuff I do myself (sorting parents for trips, reading, preparing projects, folders etc as well as all the xeroxing) as well as teach my kids, prepare the lessons, do the marking, assessment etc. Oh I mean I do all that except the teacher appreciation thing. We don't do that here. I'm lucky if I get a thank you from our parents!! In the USA do your teachers just teach? I am so envious. Today on the news we have been told that on top of our teaching, child care responsibilities etc we now have to be more aware of children who could be olympic atheletes and to try to push these children as well.

OK, rant over, sorry about that. It is just that over here teachers are expected to do so much and are not really respected as a profession. At the moment I am seriously thinking about finding another job, but I love helping my kids and am not qualified to do anything else (my graduate degree is in music and my instrumental playing is no where near what it used to be. At university I would practice my trumpet for 8 hours a day every day. Now I'm not sure that I have played it at all in the last 8 weeks!!)

cadburysmom I would be cheased off too. That sounds like so much work. Being the chair of 3 other school comittees must take up so much time too. In our school we get no parent help what so ever. I think you are amazing to do all that ::yes:: ::yes::

I think that some schools districts have parent that are more involved than others... I would guess that some of the city schools have a hard time getting parent volunteers. Our school has lots of parents that are very involved in the classrooms and in the library, earth club, Distinaton Imagination teams etc..

POFQ, hands down!

Stayed at both and LOVED POFQ, hated CSR. It was years ago (the year they opened) so it probably deserves another chance, but I really loved POFQ.

The decor is awesome, the dragon pool slide is neat, you can take the boat to DTD, the grounds are beautiful, smaller resort means easier to get around and shorter walk to bus stops, food court, and pool......

POFQ!!!

Also, private schools have WAY more parent involvement than your average public school. Some public schools, though, have great parent networks as well....

They are VERY nice to have, but alas, all schools don't have them. The school where I did my student teaching had no volunteers at all :( I think that is more the norm than having an active parent group, unfortunately.....

OMG! OMG! OMG!!

I can't believe I didn't post this earlier!

All hail, Danauk, the UK Chocolate Queen!!

I received the best box today! Several of my favorites and some new things to try.....all of the chocolate variety ::yes:: ::yes::

Dana You are so right! Those Whips are divine!! ::yes::

Rest assured, there will be a box headed your way by week's end :sunny:

THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR YOUR KINDNESS!!!!

39CINDERELLA Thanks! I think consensus was it's an adult evening, if that's ok. There was much talk of drinking and debauchery, so I doubt you'd want your kiddos around that anyway  ;)

Look for the posted info in a bit :)

Hello dawgfan, you found us! Hey, didn't you just have a trip to WDW? Got anything to report?

39Cindy I vote for POFQ also.....loved staying there, loved the boat to DTD....loved the 'cosy' feeling of a smaller resort. Like the privacy curtain they have beetween the bath and sleeping areas. Only drawback....you have to walk over to Riverside for a sit down restaurant...FQ only has a food court. But it's a lovely walk along the river and only takes a couple of minutes. I must admit, I haven't stayed at CSR, but just because the theme doesn't appeal to me, as I live in the Southwest!

More catching up to do!

Hi  back at'cha, Miss Belle

I loved our stay this past May/June at CSR. Cadburysmom and her son were there at the same time. I like the Pepper Market--but, some don't care for its style. We did good with Q and C vouchers. The transportation was good and our mousekeeper gave us lots of soaps and shampoos. She gave us two bags when we were leaving to hold us over till our next trip. NC Beast enjoyed the slide at the pool while I napped under the ceiling fan.

POFQ would be good for fall with the easier access to DTD. We still haven't been there yet.

I want to go so bad. October is Birthday month for me (and my sis and several other family members).

Sorry for any spelling errors and stuff---still waiting for new glasses.:D

Can't wait for hockey and figure skating to start but that means having to say bye bye to swimming and diving along with gymanstics

Morning all.
Thanks for the info on parent help in schools. I guess the schools I have been in are in poorer areas so parent help is not so forthcoming. In my school we have parents who are not even allowed on school grounds for various reasons

 CourtasanSatine. I have been watching the swimming, diving and gymnastics too. Some of the things the girls were doing on their floor routine last night was amazing! I'm waiting for the track and field to start.

39CINDERELLA I have only ever stayed at the Beach Club Villas so wouldn't know where to recommend. Both resorts look nice though.

dawgfan  How are you doing?

kadaten I'm glad you liked the chocolates. You'll have to tell me which your favourite was. I love the Snowflakes and the chocolate crispy bar.

NC Belle How ae the new glasses today? I hope you can see better!

Oh well I guess I should be getting on. I have just put another coat of white gloss on the door so we will be able to put the door handles on tomorrow which will help!! This afternoon I need to put the second coat of gloss on the window frames and we are going in to town to the DIY store to choose a flooring. We also need to go to the pet store to get 2 new cat flaps. Yesterday the cats went to go outside and realised there was a door in the way! They were not too happy.

OK, time for lunch and then a quick tidy around the house.

she speaks!!!!!!! How are things Court???

Welcome back DAWGFAN.

Too bad DANAUK. Room moms are in such demand but they are worth their weight in gold. In HS, room moms are no longer needed. We just help out in other areas.

off to start the day. Have company plus the cheerleaders are coming over. Have a good one everyone!!

things are good and I know it's 2 more years but the season starts soon
