Did I tell you guys the story where the CM said to me " a little OCD are we" When I requested an odd numbered room on 11th floor she told me that it was the strangest request she had ever gotten. When I told her about the bed facing the windows she argued that alll beds in the tower on MK side faced the windows I just said oh ok but I still want my request
Once again your story is another example of Cast Members from CRO not knowing all the details because they were wrong. I can say from experience that not all the beds in the Magic Kingdom View actually face it, because that's not the case with the even numbered rooms.

Maybe you should have then said, "Oh, yes, I have a very bad case of number OCD, so if I don't get that odd-numbered room it could be a problem:rolleyes1"

I say, if you pay for the MK view, then you should maximize that. Seems I'm hearing more stories on the DIS lately about CMs not knowing nearly as much as the guest:sad2:. But, if DISers keep calling CRO, then they'll learn all the ins and outs - eventually:laughing:.

Ok, guys checking in in a little more than a week. Some questions if that is ok.

I've heard that the Contemporary has Jacuzzis. I have also heard they have Whirlpools. Is that the same type of thing? Do you know how easy they are to get in and out of? I'm disabled and can't walk and will need my Mom to carry me in and out of it. I have been in one for years and years and would love to try it again. They really help me out alot.

I think I read on here about some movies being shown by the pool. Are there anymore special things at the resort that no one really knows about? Is there a special pamphlet/ or board I need to look for?

Also, I know from staying at the Contemporary previously that it takes two monorails to get to Epcot. If we walk to MK first, is that just one monorail to Epcot or do we always have to take two? On the way back from Epcot can we take a monorail to MK and use the walkway to walk back to the Contemporary?

We will be driving in and we'll have our car. Plan to shop at Downtown Disney. Should we drive or take the bus? We are also thinking about possibly going to AK.

Also, Mom asked me to ask a question here so please do not shoot the messenger. I told her these VERY RARELY happens but she'd like to to know if she can very politely ask if there are any upgrades available in the main Tower. I think she feels badly that I am paying for my own 25th birthday trip and we are staying in the Garden Wing but I'm just so happy to be staying in the Contemporary, my favorite Disney resort, I really don't care which room type we have. I love the Garden Wing anyway, very quiet and the price is right for us right row. I am a recent college grad with no job but I have money saved for Disney. LOL

Will we be able to hear the construction from Space Mountain? Also, if we go to the observation deck to see the fireworks one night, do we have to get there very early?

Thanks for any help.

The hot tubs/jacuzzis aren't very big. There are steps to get down in them, but your mom may be able to help you get in there. I dont know if any of the pool CM's would help, or if you'd even be comfortable with that.

I think I read on here about some movies being shown by the pool. Are there anymore special things at the resort that no one really knows about? Is there a special pamphlet/ or board I need to look for? I have no experience with this one, someone else may be able to answer.

If you walk to MK, you'd have to get a ferry or tak the monorail to the Ticket Transportation Center (TTC), so it would make more sense to take the monorail to the TTC (it's the 1st stop), get off and go over to the Epcot monorail (you have to go down the ramp and back up another). It's always 2 monorails away. There is no direct monorail from MK to Epcot. you have to switch at the TTC.

We will be driving in and we'll have our car. Plan to shop at Downtown Disney. Should we drive or take the bus? We are also thinking about possibly going to AK. Drive! Seriously, it takes at least 40-45 minutes to get there otherwise.

LOL You can always ask, but I would say that if you ask,m be prepared to pay the difference and then be pleasantly surprised if you don't have to. We stayed GW. When we checked in we didn't ask for an upgrade, but the check-in CM tried to get us into a tower room as an upgrade. It didn't happen because there was not availability for our entire stay, though.

Will we be able to hear the construction from Space Mountain? Also, if we go to the observation deck to see the fireworks one night, do we have to get there very early?
Nope--especially if you are in the Garden Wing. I don't know what's happening there now, but I never heard anything in July, from the observation deck (which is great) or even in Tomorrowland.
Thanks for any help.

My replies in red.

Hi guys, I think I am almost ready to book the CR for 2010 but I have one last problem. I simply cannot decide if it is worth the money(we are on a budget here!) to book a tower room or a garden wing! Booking a standard garden wing will save us lots of money! Also, the idea of possibly getting a 1st floor with patio and being close to the pool is something I could live with as well.

BUT, I have this nagging feeling that my kids will not think it is nearly as magical!! The monorail running through is obviously what most kids think is so cool! This decision is driving me nuts! I have to make a decision soon because there aren't even any standard garden wing rooms available for the week after I want to go! And that is for Oct. 2010!!

I am not sure I am able to answer your 1st question.

Besides the movies I don't think there is anything else to find which is exclusive to the Contemporary.

When going to Epcot take the Resort Monorail one stop from the 4th floor to the TTC and then switch to the Epcot Monorail. One the way back you can either take the Resort Monorail but it will stop at the Polynesian, Grand Floridian and Magic Kingdom before arriving at the Contemporary or you can also take the Express Monorail to the Magic Kingdom and use the walkway.

Personally whenever my family and I go to Downtown Disney we always have our own car with us, so I would say to take it because for whatever reason I found the Downtown Disney bus to be the worst one. However we never had problems with the Animal Kingdom bus.

If you happen to ask for an upgrade while checking in and are willing to pay for it then that won't be a problem, assuming the room you want is available. The Cast Members assume you are willing to pay for it when asking and are not hopping to get it for free. I am not saying that's what you are wanting, I am just stating what others on these boards have said about that.

You won't be able to hear any of the construction from Space Mountain and if you want to have a good spot to stand on the 4th floor observation deck, I would say get there at least 25 - 30 minutes before.

Well besides from the actual location of the rooms, the Tower and Garden Wing both have the exact same designs and if you need to stay in the Garden Wing go for it, especially if you will be saving money. I would also tell yourself and your kids hey your at Walt Disney World, so what can be better then that? Now for the times you are not going to be at the parks why not try schedule an ADR at Chef Mickey's, eat a few times at the Contempo Cafe, look in the stores and etc. This way you can get your fix of spending time on the 4th floor.

Definitely book a GW room. They are the first to sell-out so if you can still book one, I would. If you can, I would book a Garden View room and request a ground floor room facing Bay Lake. It's wonderful having a patio where you can visit with all the ducks and bunnies and if you're in front of BL, you're only steps from the beach and pool and you'll have a wonderful view.

We always stay in the Tower, but years ago we stayed twice in the GW, and it was a very pleasant experience. Your kids will see the monorail every time you go to a park or browse in the shops on the Concourse or grab a bite to eat. The only difference with staying in the Tower is really your view, being a little closer to everything and having a balcony. The important thing is that you're staying at the CR - the Tower will always be there for a future visit;).

We just returned from a magical stay at Contemporary (theme park view)! We fell in love with the king sized bed! Most comfortable bedding we have slept on. Has anyone bought the beds, as they advertise these and are available to purchase? If you can wake up in DISNEY WORLD without a back ache, after all the walking done there, the beds must be a big part of it! smile. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the opinions on GW rooms, I definitely think that is the way we will go for this trip! As you can see in my siggie, I am also having a bit of difficulty in choosing the time of year. We really want to go in October and attend MNSSHP and see the fall decor. The kids also want it to be warm enough to swim.

But, if I do make this ressie, there is a chance that fall break could be changed before then or my ds's soccer could interfere next year(it didn't this year). Sooooooo, I will be making this ressie with fears until I find out next August!

I guess my question is, what chances will I have of still getting a room if I had to move the trip up to Christmas. Or, actually since I would have to go during Christmas week should I just give up and move it up to the next spring break since I hear Christmas week is supposed to be some kind of nightmare!! Yeah, I know I'm lookin too far ahead! LOL

Well as soon as you know the days you are going to be there I would make the reservations right away, because as WDWKOOK said the Garden Wing rooms sell out fast since their the least expensive rooms among the Monorail Resorts and are popular because of that.

Thanks CR Resort Fan 4 Life, but that's the thing..I won't know for sure until next August!! Ugghh! So I will have to go ahead and make the ressie now, but I am afraid of what will happen if I find out next August that we can't go in October. Obviously it may be next to impossible to get a room for another date then. Not to mention the mess it will create with ADR's!

Oh well, I think I may just chance it because this will be our last possible chance to go on fall break since ds's sports schedule WILL affect us in 2011. What's the worst that can happen anyway..I might have to cancel Oct., can't find anything for Dec. and would just have to move my dates up again! Btw, just to ask for future reference..has anyone been during Christmas week? If so, just how crazy is it??!! I would like to know although it is still only my 2nd choice. Going to plug in Oct. dates and check my prices again now. Thanks

Well let's say you make a reservation for next October, just incase I would look online everyday to see what's available for next December if it's the worst case scenario. Now as for the crowds during Christmas week it's very busy. However if you arrive at the parks right away when they open and take full advantage of AM Extra Magic Hour, it should make things a little more easier.

Making some last minute plans for CS breakfast, and two of the days we are going to do Contempo Cafe and bring back to room. I checked Allearsnet.com for and idea on breakfast prices, but there aren't any prices. Can anyone give me a rough idea on the price for breakfast here?

Thanks :cool1:

So excited! My brother is graduating High School in 2010 and I want to take him to the contemporary MK tower view! We're debating on dates between May-August, which will give me plenty of time to save!! Im so excited I just had to share and subscribe so I could find out all the wonderful things about our new home!

Hi :goodvibes

We were last there in late April and I recall that it was pretty good prices for Disney...but I'm having a hard time remembering specifics. We brought food back from the cafe several times and my wife was impressed with their grits. Something on the order of $6 to $10 per person for breakfasty stuff? I'm hoping somebody else has a better memory than I do to answer your question.
