Thanks for posting that and hopefully some people might be able to use it.

You're welcome.

Oh, how exciting! You won't be able to sleep tonight. We have about one more month of school and about two more months until the CR and Poly.

I know you'll have a great trip and I can't wait to read about it. Don't forget to post your TR link here:goodvibes

I hope you have a great time and be sure to write a trip report when you get home. Plus don't forget to include pictures if you are able to do that.

Hey everyone!

Sunday I got back from a short trip to the World. It was me, my mom and my DS (1). We stayed at the Contemporary - Garden Wing/Garden view and had a great time.

The room was great. I had requested 1st floor, close to tower and got that. I had a view of the "garden" as well as a little bit of Bay Lake. Access to the pool was super easy (of course) and the walk to the tower was maybe 2-3 minutes? The room was kept nicely although it could have used a little more dusting but nothing horrible. We did have a problem on our first night when I woke up smelling smoke - I'm assuming it was from the brush fires but the smelll was there all night. :confused3 It wasn't a huge issue for us (thankfully). Mousekeeping was great - our lady was lovely and she left us tons of towel decorations (toothpaste holders, toothbrush holders, etc). I requested a late-check the night before and got it until 1pm.

The one strange thing happened on our last day - I got back to the room at around 11:30 and went to open the door when someone opened it from the inside. It was a gentleman with uniform and he said something about housekeeping. Now, the cart wasn't close by, there was no notice on the door saying our room was being serviced or anything. He walked out quickly saying "sorry sorry". I tried telling him we had late check out until 1pm. Anyway, it was a litlte strange and it left me feeling a little bit uneasy.

But overall, great stay. My son LOVED the water-play area and the pool. We also ate dinner at The Wave one night and absolutely loved it - def one of my top restaurants onsite now.

Anyway, thanks to everyone for your help while I planned this trip. :worship:

Thanks for your mini CR/TR. I'm glad you got your request and had a good time.

I'm going to guess that the "man in uniform" may have been a housekeeping mgr. who was possibly checking to see if you had checked-out since it was close to the normal check-out time. He probably had no record of you having checked-out yet. Housekeeping may have gotten their lines of communication crossed with your late check-out request. Those requests are granted by housekeeping, so he may have just been out of the loop on your 1:00 check-out and was checking-up on the situation. He should have left your door ajar though, but maybe he was just taking a quick peek to see if you were packed and would indeed make it out 1.5 hours later because they would have to charge you if you stay beyond 1:00.

Thanks for posting you're review and I agree with what WDWKOOK said that it might have been a Housekeeping Manager who you saw. This wasn't at any WDW Resort but a few years ago when we stayed at the Clearwater Beach Marriott Suites on Sand Key the same thing happened on our check-out day. However I was in our room at the time and someone knocked on our door since we still had the do not disturb sign out, because we weren't ready to leave and we didn't want Housekeeping coming in yet. Although it was not even 11:00 AM yet which is the check-out time so we still had a right to be in our room until that specifc time.

Will certainly do a TR with tons of pictures when we return. I'll post the link on this thread, too.

Happy planning to both of you:goodvibes

Does anyone have any knowledge about the business center. I asked this question on FB, but I figured I would ask here. :goodvibes

We leave on the 14th of June and I will be needing internet access. I understand that I can get this for free at the BLT (Im DVC), but I hear that it is a bit too laggy for the work I need to do. I teach online, and I will have to verbally teach via the internet. I called the Contemporay and the nice young lady answered some questions like the cost which is $20 a hour for the computer and $3.95 for four hours of wifi internet. I am not sure which is best. I will have my laptop with me, and I will need to for about 2 - 3 hours tops, so that I can teach both classes. IS it a quiet place? In my room, I will ahve my dh and 2 children ages 2 and 8, and I think that dh will be unable to control them being crammped in the room with me needing peace.

Anyi information would be awesome!!

A few years ago when I use to access the internet over there I remember the cost was $10.00 for every 15 minutes you were online. Besides that getting on the computers is first come first serve and their hours are 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM.

I have done some adjunct work and some online classes, but never used the network at WDW. With that said, I would think that your streaming abilities would be the same at BLT as they are at CR, unless you are worried about your own PC's abilities. If your PC has what you need, I would send your family out and use the room at BLT. BLT has the community hall that could keep them occupied.

Thank you so much, that sounds like a plan. :thumbsup2 My laptop does well, but I heard from another adjunct that hosting our "seminars" might encounter some lagging, and I was just trying to prevent that. Each class will be one hour. There are only two at 2 & 3:30 PM. But if the service will pretty much be the same, I might as well stay and send dh out with the kids. If it causes an issue, I can just go into typing mode as opposed to talking. Luckily the internet access is free for DVC Members.:woohoo:

I will have to find that community hall when we arrive, it sounds like the perfect place for them to wait. Unless we takes them to the pool, etc.

so I have a pool question, we are staying In the tower rooms:cool1: and was wondering how far of a walk is it the pool area?. Also walking with wet bathing suits?:cool1:. I know they have towels, but It would seem kind of strange walking through the looby with wet suits?. Is there another entrance you can take to and from the pool area?

Honestly I would say it's 5 minutes or less depending on where your room in the Tower is located. Usually the elevators in the Tower come very fast and once you get into the lobby you would go outside the automatic doors located in the back and it will take you right to the pool area.

Just read through most of this thread! TONS of info!

We just upgraded our resort from Pop to a Garden Wing GV room!!! I am so excited! This is our first time staying on property too. Not sure I can last these next 36 days LOL

I would say you made a great decision and I hope you enjoy staying at the Contemporary.

I thought all the rooms had a daybed but on the disney website, there is a picture without one. Do I need to request a room with a daybed if this is important to me? It would be great if my boys could sleep separately.

Thanks!

All their rooms should have a daybed and each time my family and I stayed there we had one.

THanks for the quick response! I never had any interest in this resort but the more I look into it, the more I love it. Only about 18 months until I can enjoy it with my family!
