Changed my CR tower room to a GW Deluxe room. (hopefully I made a good decision):confused3

Are there only 3 deluxe rooms in the garden wing?

Yes, there are only 3. We stayed in one of them a year and a half ago. We LOVED that room. We were on the first floor, which I HIGHLY recommend requesting. The room is really large with a king bed,a very comfortable pull out sofa, desk, loveseat, wetbar area, VERY large bathroom with shower and tub. There are windows/sliding glass door that make up one wall of the room with a view of Bay Lake and the pool. It is really close to the tower also. You will really like it!!!! Enjoy. :goodvibes

After long deliberation, we have decided to do our first split-stay. Normally we stay at the CR or the BLT depending on how many people we have in our group. With 3 trips this year, we felt like we needed to save a few dollars, so we decided to try the CSR as something new. We were excited to try something new, but a little sad about not seeing our "home". Today, we decided to go ahead and spend the last two nights at the BLT 2BR. I am sure we would have had a great time no matter what, but being able to go "home" for 2 nights is just the cherry on top!!!!. Can't wait!!!!

Thank you CR Resort Fan 4 Life and Disneymama for replying to my question!!!

My trip is 2w. 2.days away... when, how and to whom should I make the request for the ground floor room? TIA!

Please tell me if this sounds reasonable....

We'll be staying 10 nights at BLT 1 bedroom. We're coming in a day early, and we WERE going to stay that first extra night at Pop, then check into BLT the next morning. After thinking about it, I thought, "Why not stay that first extra night at the Contemporary atrium club level instead?" My reasoning is that I wouldn't have to move my car again. (ha!) Plus, can't you use the concierge until midnight on the day you check out? If that is true, that would be very handy since at BLT we'd still be in close proximity.

I would call the Disney Reservations Center and make your request, this way the Cast Member at the Contemporary who does the room assignemnts before you arrive can see that and hopefully it will be able to happen.

Yes it's true that you would have access to the Atrium Club lounge until 12:00 AM on your check-out day, because your KTTW cards won't exipre for being inserted into the slot on the elevator to actiavte the button for the 12th floor.

I love this board! We are getting married at Sunset Point on Oct 12th and have booked our entire stay (10 days) at the Contemporary with the MK view. It was a lot more than the AK or Poly and with the wedding costs, well I needed to be convinced it was worth it.

We stayed at the GF last year and felt it was nice but really not our style. He stayed at the Poly in the past and liked it but has always wanted to stay at the Contemporary.

Anyway, I just read thru this thread and am soooooo glad my fiance (I guess DF?) was adamant about staying there. I can't wait!!!! Thanks for all your info, updates, etc! :grouphug:

I also want to wish you both congratulations and I hope you enjoy your stay at the Contemporary.

hi, ive just posted this on the DisAbility board and was wondering if anyone here could help?

Hi, its nearly a year until our holiday and i was close to...... :cool1:
We booked through a UK tour operator-Virgin holidays. This week they were trying to get our room booked as we needed a disabled room with a roll in shower. Weve booked a garden room (which is what we had the last couple of trips) at Disneys Contemporary resort hotel.
we got a phone call from Virgin to say that Disney have said they only do Disabled rooms in the deluxe part of the garden wing. Which is going to cost us an extra £500 approx $750 :scared1:

Weve booked exactly the same holiday as last time and we got a Disabled room in the garden wing. Ive even posted loads of pictures on another thread on here. :rotfl:

I just wanted to know if something has changed in the last year which i dont know about.
Im not happy that theyre trying to charge us more due to a disability

Thanks for any help in advance :goodvibes

From today's AllEars Newsletter:
This month we go back to August 10, 1994, when the Concourse Steakhouse opened on the Grand Canyon Concourse (4th floor) of the Contemporary Resort. ...The Concourse Steakhouse remained open until May 31, 2008 when it closed its doors to make way for a major renovation of the Contemporary's 4th floor. Today, the Contempo Cafe occupies that space.

I remember that place. I think it was a couple of years ago and we were talking about going there and couldn't remember the name. Now, I know why. Thanks for the info.

Congratulations! DW and I honeymooned at MK 10 years ago - not at CR - and have made Disney a regular stop over the years. Good luck and all the best wishes for the future.

Can someone tell me how much drawer space there is at CR???? This will be our first stay there. It will be me, my daughter & her teenage son & 8 yr old daughter & one of my other grandsons age 9yrs. I know the drawer space at POP was really lacking for 4 people & can't remember how much space we had @ POR with the 5 of us. I have one of those 'things' that you can hang on a closet rod for sweater storage I think. Was thinking about bringing that & using it to hold my clothes or maybe doing as someone has suggested about putting the younger kids daily outfits in large plastic bags & stacking them in the hanging thing. It has 6 or 7 shelves. Am so looking forward to the monorail convenience on our upcoming trip. TIA

I say the answer depends on how much stuff you need to put in them. Some people say there is not that much, so you got to be smart how much you decided to put in there. Personally whatever we can't put in the drawers we just leave in our luggage, so for us it's not an issue.

There are two deep, but narrow drawers in the closet. We use these for socks, underwear, bathing suits, jogging attire - items we don't mind getting wrinkled.

There is also exposed shelving on both sides of the TV and roomy upper shelves in both closets in the entry:

Since the room renovations the drawer space has decreased (unless your staying on the 14th floor Concierge level). I believe there are 2 drawers, plus 2 tiny (VERY tiny) drawers in the closet. During (week long) trips, I believe that 2 out of the 4 of us were able to use the drawer space and the other 2 lived out of their suitcases (our kids are teenagers now, so keep in mind their clothes take up more space than a child would). I would definitely bring the hanging storage bag (great idea)! :thumbsup2

You will LOVE the convenience of being on the monorail!! :cool1: Enjoy your trip!!

PS: Got a great tip here on the boards...we purchased "suction cup hooks" and used them on the back of the bathroom door to hang wet bathing suits, clothes, etc. I will always bring them in the future!!

wow, thats not very much storage space for a room that holds 5 people, we are staying at the CR on August 19th for 10 nights for the first time, I have 2 adults and 3 teenagers and really like to fully unpack, with that little amount of space/drawers I can't see being able to completly unpack, you would think with a room that size and that they hold 5 people that they would have some sort of dresser.
