For the first weekend of our Disney trip in Jan, we will be in Orlando, but visiting family. My first thought was to book an inexpensive hotel to save up for our next 6 nights at the WL! After searching for the elusive "great rates" that everyone but me seems to be getting, I came across the Windsor Hills rental website. I hadn't even thought of this option, but for less money, we could have a whole condo. Something doesn't seem right, why are condo's so much cheaper than hotels???? We want to stay somewhere clean and comfortable, although we wouldn't get a lot of use of the amenities because of day trips to see relatives, but heck, a whole condo? I'm really showing my "newbie-ness", aren't I? But I can't figure out why I would book a hotel room for MORE money unless these really aren't what they seem in the pictures...what am I missing????:scratchin

hi there

to me this is a no brainer why pay $200 for a room [size 25ft by 12ft average] when you can get a whole condo [size 1250 square ft] for around $100 a night and in 5* resort closer to wdw and quicker to get there than many onsite hotels.the only thing you have been missing is great deals and great facilities take the plunge and you will not be disapointed.

Once you have stayed in a private home (pool home, townhome or condo) you will wonder why you ever stayed in a hotel! You are making a great choice with Windsor Hills, it is also getting many good reports on Trip Advisor.

I think nala's an owner, not sure about deejay, but owners have a vested interest in telling you how great WH is. Well, I'm NOT an owner, and I think WH is great. I was with you - couldn't figure out why it was so cost-friendly.

I'm not an owner either but have stayed in 2 different townhouses at WH and I know it's great. Staying in anything besides a hotel room is great. We're going back to WH and staying in a 6 bedroom in Nov. :thumbsup2
I don't understand why more people don't do this. But remember you're giving up daily maid service and room service. There have been some people who've tried this and didn't like not being waited while on vacation so to each his own I guess.
Most owners also charge a cleaning charge if you're staying less than a week but even that averaged in with the rates makes it less than a hotel room.
So I guess my advice would be try it and you may never stay in a hotel room again.

yeh cruz91 is correct i am an owner, but this does not detract from the fact that there a great deal out there, i actually own a villa i think the original post was looking for a condo.

We have rented a condo at WH for the past 2 vacations and are planning on returning this upcoming spring. WH is quick and convenient to the parks! The grounds are besutiful and I am not cramped into 2 hotel rooms with 6 kids!!!:goodvibes

the last two trips we have rented homes and I will NEVER go back to a hotel. Granted we are a family of 2 adults and four kids, but still. I love, love, love having separate rooms for separated bedtimes. I can get the kids settled down for bed and run and do a load of laundry in our own place. Or we can pack up the bags, etc., for the next.
Also, when we get up in the morning, we can give the kids a quick breakfast while we get the car loaded up and be on our way to the parks!

This time we are doing Windsor Hills Townhouse, over a house. I found we don't actually USE the private pool all that much. And the private house deals we had before were a bit further than WH is now.

I am all about a house for ALL my vacations now. They are harder to find in some destinations, but whenever we can rent a private home or condo I am 100% for it. I like the extra showers, a real kitchen and a private laundry!

One point that I should add:

Some people don't consider it a vacation if they have to do their own bedding or have to cook meals. It all depends on what your personal definition of vacation is.

For me it is going away for fun with my family, and if doing a bit of work [with the help of DH and DKs] makes it possible to save money and go more frequently, we are all for it.

I have friends who would NEVER do this b/c they'd never use the kitchen, don't consider it a vacation if they have to make beds and would never dream of doing laundry while away.

To each his own defintion! :D

I just replied to a similar thread, but just wanted to say that we stayed at Windsor Hills last year in a condo and loved it so much that we are going back this year. The main thing for us is that we have a two year old who will not sleep if he is in the same room for us - we love having a condo so he can have his own room. He also doesn't do so well in restaurants, so even if we go out to eat, it's nice to be able to make him a snack later if he didn't eat well at dinner.

It's a great deal and it's very close to Disney - I was really surprised at how quick and easy it was to get the parks. My husband thought I was so smart for finding that place.

Also, the pool and grounds are every bit as nice as they look in the pictures.
