Day – 9 Sat. Sept. 20

Today we go home. But before we do we have some plans. Our plan was this. The Lion King show was supposed to re-open on this day at AK. We were going to go check it out and then head to the airport. I had asked CM’s earlier in the week about confirming it’s reopen and times. They told me I was going to have to wait until the a.m. of to get confirmation. We were told we wouldn’t be able to find out until Guest Relations opened at 8:00. I made everyone get up early in the event that we were on. Long story short…. it was reopening but not having a show until the afternoon. Our plane was leaving at 2:45. This was disappointing but of course there was nothing we could do. I reminded DH that that would leave us with 1 day left on our passes for the next trip. :) So now he was irritated that I made him get up early for nothing. We really didn’t make a back-up plan. We really didn’t want to go to any parks, or shopping. Finally we just hung out at the resort getting some last minute pics. I took DS to arcade, as we hadn’t found time for it before. I did a little more shopping at the Mercantile. We said good-bye to the lodge. Then we headed to the airport.

We were lucky to get a really great skycap to help us at the airport. He really went out of his way to make it easy, and fast. He even asked as a reminder that we didn’t have any film in our checked bags. We ate at a restaurant there and it was pretty good. Spent a little time hanging at the airport and then we were on our way. Great flight. Jared was great. I missed the lodge but was looking forward to my own bed.

Final Thoughts:

The lodge is everything I was told it would be…. we loved it and probably could never stay anywhere else. This truly is a great place for families. :smooth:

I found the shopping in general not to be as good as in the past. This was good because it saved me $$. This was bad because I didn’t feel complete without some cool Disney stuff. Maybe this was just me or maybe just my perception but I felt that the variety just wasn’t that great and I kept seeing the same stuff over and over.

In the future I would try to avoid buying the photos that Disney took and just ask more people to take our photos together…I have a pro camera…. I’m wondering what I was thinking paying someone else for less than perfect pics???

Character meals are great and next time I would do more than one.

Watch out for the beds at WL…. they can be hazardous to your toes…LOL ;)

There is just not enough time…. but then you probably already knew that.

I MUST go back…LOL

I hope you have enjoyed the reports and I appreciate the feedback and comments. Thanks for reading and thanks to all those that helped make the trip better for us with their planning tips, and generosity.

Great reports Corky. I enjoyed reading each one and looked forward to the next. Could you do mine for me?? - LOL

I love ribs as well and really enjoyed the ones at WC. You mentioned that we in Pittsburgh don't have good ribs. Do you have a Fridays where you live? I personally love the Jack Daniels sauce they use. We make ribs a lot and I only use the Jack Daniels sauce.

Bravo....excellent! Can't wait till we can bump into each other again there!!

Fred

Fred.....I'm blushing:o It's been a long time since I've been bravoed

RR....we do have Friday's...the sauce is good it's the ribs themselves I find lacking:(

Thanks everyone

Enjoyed reading your trip reports. We were there the same week. I really hate to tell you this, but we were at the AK on 9/20/03. They decided to open the Lion King early and the first show was at 10:00. It was great!! Anyway, I'm glad you had a good trip. I feel the same way--never enough time--we MUST return.

One of the greatest things about going to the world is you can go every year and do something different each time. If you plan just a bit, it can be different yet very much the same.

Ok, let's all say it together while clicking our heels together....

"There's no place like Disney, There's no place like Disney, There's no place like Disney....."

I really enjoyed reading your entire trip report!

We have a lot in common: Disney, Jon Bon Jovi (I saw him in concert twice this year!), and Beringer's White Zinfendel! :D

Well a great wrap up to an awesome reporting job. When we were down this past weekend, I made a quick pit stop and then went up to the room. DD & DGD went ahead of me. I walk in the room and "ouch, DGD said Mom just said that They need to pad those shin busters. LOL

Corky,
I really enjoyed reading your trip reports. It was great to get ideas for our DS. He will be not quite 3 when we go in November. He loves to watch Cinderella, so I will have to hunt her down! Thanks again!!

Sounds like you had a great trip

Are you going through the "just got home and wanna go back" blues yet? I always hate that part. Anyway, glad to hear you all had a good time, and a safe flight! Welcome back.

PS-did you hear the news that Jon and Dorothea are having baby #4???
