Day 5– Tues. Sept. 16

Today is EE at MGM. I knew we didn’t need to be there right at opening because DS not interested in any of EE rides. We got there about 8:15. Our first pleasant surprise was a run in with the green army men. DS was a little intimidated, but DH just loved these guys and we watched them for a little while. We sort of just hung out for a while and then headed to Muppets, which Jared liked quite a bit. He was especially fascinated with taking his glasses off and putting them on to see the difference. LOL We headed to Ariel and Jared loved this. We decided to have an ice cream break. I had Mickey bar, DH had crunch bar, and Jared had Minnie’s strawberry fruit bar that we all tried and it was really yummy!!:)
We decided to go find Sorcerer Mickey while we were waiting for Playhouse Disney show. Sorcerer Mickey is my very favorite and I wasn’t going home with out his pic. We waited for about 7 minutes and finally there he was!! We had great interaction with him and got a couple pics and when I whispered to Mickey that Sorcerer was our favorite he got very animated and gave me a kiss and picked up DS and gave him a big hug while spinning him around. It was magical and I walked out grinning like a kid.:smooth:
When we headed back to Playhouse we were told that it was all-full and if we wanted to make the next show to come ½ hour early. We headed off to lunch at the Commissary. DH and I agreed that it was very good. He had Cuban Sand. I had fish and chips. We left here and headed to Indiana Jones. I guess that I’ve seen this too many times as I am kind of over it now. DS seemed to only really enjoy the fighting and exploding. He really didn’t understand that it was a movie set. I wouldn’t want to waste my time with this in the future, although I did used to like it. We headed over to Playhouse Disney about 35 minutes before the start…when we got there we were told that we were in a standby line and there was a 50/50 chance of getting in??? :confused:I really don’t understand this…. they must have a general idea of how many will fit. I was not amused at the idea of standing in line for 30 minutes only to be turned away. We were eventually amongst the last ten people admitted and there was a long line of people that were turned away. Once we got in we were scrunched like sardines. I really didn’t get to enjoy this as I felt cramped and it was hard to see with so many packed in. We took a bathroom break and then hunted up Lilo and Stitch. Waited in line for a bout 10 minutes but really had a great time with them and Jared was happy to see Stitch. I want to add that all the characters we met really made a big deal over Jared’s homemade autograph book and Lilo seemed to really like it.

We then tried to catch Mike and Sulley. We were only able to get Mike. He was great. No autograph but we did get some pics! We called it a day at this point, as we needed a break so we could come back and see Fantasmic later. When we returned to our room we found some great towel animal toothbrush holders and Jared’s Nemo was holding the remote and watching Toon Disney! Very cute. We had Dianna as our mouse keeper
For most of the week and she was really great. :)We went for a swim and then took advantage of concierge offerings. They had a really yummy buffalo chili and the other usual items. Because we had eaten a big lunch and the chili was so hearty this was enough for us that we didn’t really need anything else.

We had had beautiful weather the whole week and I had gotten tired of carrying the ponchos around in the backpack so I had taken them out several days before and each day when concierge would leave a message on our phone about the weather for the day I would then decide if we needed them. That day’s weather was great and only called for 10% chance of rain. I figured…. oh no we don’t need them. I wanted to travel light to Fantasmic that night…. only took the kid, the stroller, the camcorder, and the camera. I’m sure you know where this is headed. I will get back to it though. Jared fell asleep in the car on the way so when we put him in the stroller I really couldn’t get him strapped in properly and I said to DH, keep an eye on that he doesn’t slide down. This is where I applied for worst mother of the year award when I almost killed my son.:( We were walking to Fantasmic down a little hill and I hear this noise as the stroller simultaneously comes to a halt. My first thought is that I hit something. Oh No! I look around the side of the stroller and DS is falling out of the stroller! His bottom half was on the ground and his top half was barely in…He was completely disoriented and I felt really bad. Fortunately he was ok and went right back to sleep. I really felt like a horrible mother though! We go find a pretty good seat for Fantasmic. DS is still asleep and I am holding him. We see this very small, very ominous looking rain cloud in front of us and I’m thinking “huh uh…. this is not going to happen when I have all those ponchos, and umbrella back at the resort.” Well, Mother Nature didn’t agree. About 5 minutes later it started pouring and I do mean pouring…hard! DH was really giving me a lot of hassle because I hadn’t brought the rain gear and I was simultaneously panicking over my camera getting wet and DS freaking out to being woke up with a torrential rain. It of course only rained long enough for half the stadium to freak out and all of us to get COMPLETELY soaked. I never saw people freak out like that. They were screaming like an alien had just showed up. It was quite funny after the fact. LOL DH thought it pretty crappy of the CM’s to suddenly come around with the towels for sale…. I expected that.
DS was cold at this point and I thought we were going to have to bail but he stuck it out and LOVED this show. He was completely transfixed. The most amazing thing is I didn’t know if he would be able to follow the story. Not only could he follow it but also he was telling us what was going on right from the start. We all really enjoyed it. After checking and declining some pictures that were taken we headed back to the resort and hit the bed. I want to add that DH and I often took advantage of the late night concierge offerings, which included a dessert, (this rotated from Berry cobbler – yum to Apple crisp) cookies, brownies, wine, cordials, coffee, hot cocoa. They served a lovely chardonnay and my favorite wine Beringer White Zinfandel. I am now addicted to hot cocoa with a healthy splash of Godiva choc. Liqueur. LOL. Such a lovely treat!

Coming up…. a dream comes true, some alone time, and another surprise

Well as you know the little cloud reminded you were in Florida, Murpheys law. LOL

Otherwise a very special day and my thanks for sharing. A job well done of reporting.

I wanted to thank you for the trip report and let you know it was the most enjoyable I've read. Your a good writer! Thanks for the information on Epcot. I've been wondering if I should take my DD there, she is only 3. But it sounds like she might really enjoy the shows.

Wonderful trip reports ~ Thanx for sharing.

thanks for the feedback everyone.....I never thought I was that good at writing...I appreciate the compliments

I don't know what it is about MGM, but we can't go there without our ponchos! We can go to every other park and it doesn't rain, but it ALWAYS rains on us there. By the way, great report! We are going to the WL in a week. I am sooo excited!:Pinkbounc
