Day 3– Sun. Sept. 14

I let the troops sleep in a little this a.m. as this was a scheduled rest and hang out day with a trip to DTD. Of course DS didn’t want to get up and even when he did we experienced some grumpiness that we hadn’t had so far on the trip. Hmmmm…I wonder why?? We had a PS at the Kona café for 9:00. Grabbed a boat to MK and then the monorail to the Poly. We only waited about 2 minutes and were seated. We enjoyed a good meal here and would do it again. I had Tonga Toast, loved it. DH had some kind of mixed concoction, sorry I don’t remember but he liked it and DS had Minnie’s French toast. We headed out to DTD for some shopping. First stop Once Upon A Toy; after all I had heard I really wasn’t all that impressed. DS did some shopping here and then we moved on to Candy store for a drink and a treat. We stopped in the Christmas store, which I really loved and picked out 2 ornaments for our tree. Jared was somewhat difficult to deal with through out the shopping but I knew it was just that he was tired. I really wanted to check out the Scrap booking store but I knew that DS wasn’t going to make it much longer and we still hadn’t hit the Lego store or the World of Disney. We headed to World of Disney where DS wanted a Sorcerer Mickey hat…. we go check it out. $34.00!!! I say no way, he pleads and cries, I finally say well lets see if we can find one to fit…no dice…all too big. He’s sad but he moves on to other areas, we shop for a while until he comes upon a Buzz visor that he wants. We put it on, he complains it is too big; I make it smaller, he complains it is too tight, DH takes over and they have the same debate. DH tells him that he’s sure it will be ok after we get the tags off, so he takes off to pay for it. Well let’s just say that no matter what we did with the hat he was still unhappy and wouldn’t wear it but he wanted it…. I wasn’t paying for a hat that he wasn’t going to wear so I returned it. This of course brought on the meltdown to end all meltdowns. There were tears,:( stomping,:bounce: jumping up and down, and of course the embarrassing screaming which ultimately led to the removal of said child from the store and the end of the shopping experience. This also led to a mighty strained discussion with DH about the importance of DS getting enough rest. (Secretly I think he planned the whole thing in an effort to keep his wallet from being emptied):) Of course Jared was asleep literally before we made it down the street. We drove around awhile to let him sleep and then went back to the lodge and swam for about 2 ½ hours.

We are having a hard time deciding where we wanted to eat tonight so after a lot of debate back and forth we decide we will go down to Whispering Canyon. First we sampled some of the evening concierge food offerings. They had a wonderful Cr. Mushroom soup, spring rolls, cheeses, crust less PB and J, which we all fell in love with, bread with a really yummy roasted red pepper dip, crudités and wine and sodas. We head down to WCC and wait about 3 minutes for a table. I had the meatloaf with mashed pot.
DH had the all you can eat skillet, DS had PB and J platter. DH said his food was all good, personally I hated it and would not want to go there again. Although I did love the cornbread. It was perfect. The meatloaf was overcooked and very salty. So I was disappointed about the food, but here is where the BIG surprise came. We were eating our salad when I feel this tap on my shoulder and I have this feeling of dread thinking it is the waitress about to put some ridiculous looking hat on my head. I turn my head and it is my Best Friend from High School. :pinkbounc: After I almost peed my pants and got over the shock we had a wonderful little reunion. See she and her family live in Gainesville, FL and we don’t get to see them much. Well we felt bad about coming to Fl for our trip and not visiting them but they understood that we really wanted a real vacation without visiting (this is typically how we have our vacations due to the fact that I have family in FL). So she had company come in for a visit unexpectedly and they wanted to do Disney so they came for a couple days. I was so surprised and excited to see her and her hubby and daughter that I don’t think I could of eaten even if I had liked it. We ended up spending the rest of the evening with them at the pool. We all had a great time catching up with them. Unfortunately it was time to get the kids to bed and we said a very reluctant good-bye. I tried to remind myself that a little time was better than none at all.
We headed off to bed and I again had a smile on my face as I fell asleep.

Coming up….the day the touring plan died

Anice way to end a day. Laugh when you can sez I

Corky, I am having a REALLY good time reading your reports. Since I did mine while I was down there, it's fun to read others now that I am back. Especially yours since we were down at the same time. There are still a couple of days that I haven't done a report for and I'm not sure if I will even do them right now.

You go girl!

Fred

Corky, I am enjoying your trip reports. I can see the same thing happening if my son gets overtired!! We will be sure to schedule in some rest time. My DH is real bad about not being able to get him to sleep. He is still figuring out that you don't give him a choice. It's naptime!!

Wonderful reports ~ Thanx for sharing.

Great report!

You know what they say "It's a small world after all!!" ;)

Great report. Ahh, the skillet, a must have everytime I am at the lodge. I can really hurt myself with that thing. And, if you love the crustless PB&J's (I assume you are talking about the ones that look like little tarts) then you can buy the maker from Pampered Chef. Just make a regular PB&J sandwich and press it with the little press and viola, the same sandwiches they sell at Disney for $3 or so.

Ratpack....thanks for the info....will definately get it!!

Wooohooo! Me too! Can't wait!!! :)

Oh, and uh.....they were free on the concierge floor. :) I COULDN'T GET ENOUGH! :teeth:

I am in SERIOUS withdrawl at the moment.
