Day 2 Sat. Sept 13
Today we head to Magic Kingdom (I know we shouldnt go on Saturday but had our reasons). The wake up call came pretty early but when I heard the voice on the other end I didnt even mind!
I got up and started getting ready before anyone else woke up (this was a recurring thing everyday, then for some reason DH wanted to complain that I was getting him up too early???)
I went down to concierge to check out he offerings and brought DH back some coffee to get him going
it worked!! DS wakes up and says, I want to see Cinderella and Ariel
WHAT!!! This is my Buzz boy
. this boy typically lives, eats, and breathes Buzz. His whole room is done in Buzz, I spend half my life cleaning up after or tripping over Buzz toys. I didnt plan for Cinderella! It never even occurred to me to research on where she would be outside of the Princess breakfasts. Secretly I think he and DH are conspiring against my planning! OK I take a deep breath and I tell him that Ariel is no problem (I have this under control) but we might have to really search for Cinderella. So now hes excited at the prospect of a hunt. We all enjoyed breakfast from the lounge almost every morning (I supplemented some things from our grocery stop) There was juice, milk, pastries, bagels, some fruit, muffins, cereals, the most wonderful croissants, coffee, hot cocoa, teas etc. Also we requested chocolate milk for Jared and they were more than happy to accommodate us. This really saved us a lot of time and I believe it was one of the best things about staying concierge.
We headed to MK by boat at about 7:45. For anyone wondering about the boat service we never waited more than 5 minutes for a boat all week. This included going to Ft. Wilderness and MK and Contemporary. When we arrived at MK with plenty of time and tried to get a good spot to see the opening ceremonies, which in all the many visits that I have made to Disney over the years I had never witnessed. It was cute. This is where the complaining starts though. And I dont mean by DS either. DH starts this litany of complaints about how hot it is, how hot he is, why couldnt we get a spot in the shade, he cant believe how hot it is, hes already soaked with sweat, did I bring him a change of clothes I think you get the picture.
Keep in mind that we lived in S. Florida for 8 YEARS!!! Im trying to figure out why hes acting so surprised. I begin ignoring him and we make our way inside to find multiple characters in Town Square. DS was a little freaked out by Rafiki but did reluctantly get his autograph but no pic. We saw Timon and they had some really cute interaction with Timon trying to hide from Jared. We made our way down Main Street with DS freaking with excitement over the castle. Got our pic taken on Main Street (which later upon viewing really did show DH soaked with sweat-LOL) and headed directly to fantasyland, where DH and DS rode Dumbo with about a 5-minute wait did Peter Pan, no wait. Small World, which was a walk on, Pooh walk on. DS really loved the Pooh ride. We took a break and then decided to get in line for Ariels Grotto
.got in line about 9:50 and finally saw her about 10:05. She really loved DS autograph book and wrote Love and Fishes, Ariel. He just was beaming with happiness. I had a Mother Moment (thats what we call them). Anyone familiar with these moments? DH and
I had a smoke break and then we headed to HM, which was a walk on. We regrouped and decided to eat before the lunch rush started. This was a good call as it got very crowded while we were eating. We ate at Pecos Bills and enjoyed it. A man behind the counter gave DS a free pack of cookies, which was very nice of him.
We then did POC with a 5-minute wait. We caught up with Mr. Smee here and had fun with him. Stopped for a Dole Whip. Jared and I really liked it. DH hated it! We headed out and went to pick up our pictures (Main St. and Ariel) The Ariel pic they took did not come out and DS was pretty sad, hopefully the one I took will be good. We headed back to the Lodge and enjoyed some light snacks at concierge (pretzels, gummy worms, cookies, tea, lemonade) before we all settled down for a little nap.
We headed back to MK for Spectro and took Jared to check out Mickey and Minnies house where we had a run in with some very rude kids. Then went over to the Toontown
Fair where I was thrilled to find that Cinderella was. Unfortunately the line was just too long and we decided to try again on another day. We went to get our spot for the parade and found a great spot right in front of Tonys at about 6:50. While hanging out here waiting for the parade Belle and Snow White were right behind us. We hopped in line for Belle, DS was really quite keen on her and by the time we were done there Snow White was gone. Jared played a little with some of the kids in the area and then we watched the parade, which we all loved. On a side note I was amazed at the people coming into the MK at 7:45 and were shocked that they couldnt get a good parade spot go figure.
We made a beeline to the exit and were able to get on the very first boat back to the Lodge where we watched the fireworks from our balcony. Very cool view. Everyone was hungry so we went to Roaring Forks to eat and then DS and DH wanted to go for another swim. I advised against this as it was getting late and I knew Jared needed some rest. Well I lost that discussion and they went for a swim anyway. This came back to bite us in the bum the next day just as I predicted.
