The ABC's of Trip Planning, Pt 1- K is for Keeping Things Kooky- Drinks V-Z; pg. 197 + New Link

My son is 18 on the 19th, but we celebrated last night at a sushi place (are you on FB? I posted a photo there). All of mine are getting older and starting to leave the nest. I"m ok with that- I may actually have a clean house someday. Weird that they are 1 DAY! apart!!!

Yes! Crazy that they are only 1 day apart!! I'll PM you with FB info

I can't wait to hear how your ADR booking by proxy went :) and what you ended up with and tours etc! I would be sad about the trains too. That's one of the things I love doing and they were closed on my last trip too. But the Behind the Seeds looks like so much fun so great that you are doing that!!

And that means birthdays at the Steppe Homestead!

Ditto here.
Elle's birthday last Saturday, my Dad's yesterday.

One birthday boy is turning 18

That's a big one. Maybe not in all states...

And yet another is turning 29. Again.

Not possible. You turned 28 last year, so this would be the first crack at 29, right?

(Unless you ask her back. Or bladder.)

I shouldn't laugh, but...

:lmao:

including a new ditty bag. That's what everyone calls a toiletries bag, right?

Um... sure?

This was not a cheap birthday, by a long shot, but these birthday goodies should last a good long time.

Trust me. You can't go wrong with good quality suitcases.

(Actually, my kids don't throw petty tantrums. That's my department for instances where say... coffee is late in consumption, dishes are stacked in the sink when I've been out all day, or laundry stench wafts out of the washing machine because everyone else was too lazy to move it over.)

you and Ruby would get along just fine.

Rolly bags are hands down the way to go.

Oh, yes. Unless there're stairs.
Lots of stairs.
Like.... Paris.

moleskin, scissors,

Do NOT forget the scissors!

eye of newt,

Wait... what are you saying here?

and WAY more ponchos (because rain will NEVER stand in the way of a full day in the parks, EVER.),

::yes::

I had to print them on white, cut them out, stick them on white Mouseheads, and then photocopy it all on the green.

Are LGMHs still a thing? No one talks about them anymore.

I wonder if the Birthday Bunny should buy the Mama something equally fun and useful. Like an Annual Pass.

Thought you wanted a certain 'vette.

Now, it's off to a Japanese Steakhouse to celebrate birthday #1.

Nice.

It was delicious and I ate liberally. Tummy handled lasagna... there's just something about lasagna. :cloud9:

Good! What's the point of making and eating a good lasagna if you're just going to barf it up all over the place?

I do calculations by calculator. I have 3 of them.

That's 2 more than me. I think.

Think hard.

I am!

That and finding a small amount of exhilaration when a patient is finally hacking up sputum.

Category: Things you never thought you'd read.

Dutch Brothers is a local coffee chain. It's better than Starbucks

Oh, really?

and a bit cheaper. Then again a moonflight is also.

No kidding.

my Preceptor showed me GoGuessr- Look it up; pretty fun!

Did you mean GeoGuessr? That was fun!

That's a big one. Maybe not in all states...

I think all states allow voting at 18. Too bad there isn't anyone worth voting for this time around. :sad2:

Not possible. You turned 28 last year, so this would be the first crack at 29, right?

OH yes! Right!

I shouldn't laugh, but...

:lmao:

And I shouldn't sneeze, but....

you and Ruby would get along just fine.

Oh, I'm absolutely certain of that!

Oh, yes. Unless there're stairs.
Lots of stairs.
Like.... Paris.

Yes, I remember a few stairs. And really great baguettes. But that's off topic. Sort of.

Do NOT forget the scissors!

The dinky ones in the gift store can't be that bad. Can they?

:lmao:

Wait... what are you saying here?

That I missed toe of frog?

Are LGMHs still a thing? No one talks about them anymore.

I guess I'm a little nostalgic and old school. They are to me and yeah... they still mean the DIS to me.

Thought you wanted a certain 'vette.

Well, how do you think I'm gonna GET there?!

Good! What's the point of making and eating a good lasagna if you're just going to barf it up all over the place?

Very true! But normally, if and when I have to barf, I don't get it all over the place.

Oh, really?

Mmmm.... the Cocomo, cut with regular milk, is my favorite.

You would hate it, being that it's coconut.

Did you mean GeoGuessr? That was fun!

Addicting. (And yes, my usual typo)

What is it with the trains at Disney these days? I guess the one at DLR is closed for a couple of YEARS!

I'd highly recommend the Seeds Tour. Very informative and fun!

Arg! My iPad just ate my reply! I was saying that the Wanyama Safari sounds wonderful, but don't expect your family to be able to join you for dinner. From all the repost I read, they serve dinner for the whole two group in the private dining room family style.

And if she is all about adventure, maybe the Wild Africa Trek would be more interesting for her. You get to actually walk through the savanna area of AK a little bit and you go over the crocodiles on a suspended bridge. We did it in 2013 (we were lucky that we could go with a CM friend and her discount...) and loved it. I think price wise it is about the same...

This is where my report on the Wild Africa Trek starts in my trip report from that trip:

From the Sea to the World - Completed!

UGH! I hate when that happens!

I suspected that might be the case. I think they'll be out having fun, so I'm not too worried about this. We'll just plan to meet up around 8:00 for a swim or something.

And if she is all about adventure, maybe the Wild Africa Trek would be more interesting for her. You get to actually walk through the savanna area of AK a little bit and you go over the crocodiles on a suspended bridge.

That sounds super fun too. I'll definitely check into it!

I think I remember it! But I'll go back and read again compare. :)

The Trains will be under refurb the entire month of October, which meant the Behind the Steam Tour I wanted to take the kids on is kaput.

Poop.

I posed both options to Thing 1 and Thing 2, and naturally, like any set of siblings would do, they each chose something different.

 Good to see that some things are universal.

Zachadoo chose the Behind the Seeds Tour which is only $20 bucks a pop and a super cool tour.

This one just doesn't appeal.
I might like it okay, but just can't see me taking what limited time I have for it.

When I described the Wanyama Tour

That one does sound interesting. Surprised that Zach isn't interested. I'm thinking that after he sees your photos he may regret not going.

I love that word: "exclusive"

::yes::

I kinda like pretending to be a stuck up rich snob who gets "exclusive" stuff. Probably because I shop at Walmart most of the time, and don't feel rich at all

Yes!! That's it exactly.
And then you casually drop it in conversation.
"Oh, I'm doing the exclusive Wanyama tour later this afternoon."

And in keeping with the "E" theme...

Oh, of course. Stupid me.

Too bad there isn't anyone worth voting for this time around. :sad2:

Oh. God.

That I missed toe of frog?

<backs away slowly>

I guess I'm a little nostalgic and old school. They are to me and yeah... they still mean the DIS to me.

Me too. But I've worn one last few trips and... nada. zilch. nothing.

Well, how do you think I'm gonna GET there?!

Good point.

Very true! But normally, if and when I have to barf, I don't get it all over the place.

Your heart is pure and your aim is true.

Mmmm.... the Cocomo, cut with regular milk, is my favorite.

Correct.
And I don't like coffee either, so...

I think some of us are going in on a Memory Maker as well.... But need to figure out how that works.

I may have that too....

I have it now on my Annual Pass - I renewed mine right before they changed them. I didn't think it would have the MM based on the desciptions I read, but when we got back my pictures were available. I wish I had checked while we were still down there, it was at Christmastime so we would have done more PhotoPass if we'd known. Assuming it's still available for a DVC renewal I should have it.

As far as how it works. To the best of my knowledge, whoever I add as a Friend and Family on my account will show up on my photos. But, I don't think you would have access to them as far as adding borders and editing. I know when my husband went in March his pictures showed up in my account fine, but in his account with the photopass watermark over the picture because his pass was older and didn't include MM. Since we are in the same house we just did the editing on my account and didn't even try it on his. My son is going in June and I added him to my account, he doesn't live at home, so I should know more after he gets back how it works in that case.

That is interesting. We might end up with two Memory Makers between us. My boyfriend has an AP with Memory Maker and I have a strange UK-ticket (14 day ticket including park hopping and water parks for about the same price as a 10 day park hopper without water parks) that comes with Memory Maker. I don't think he will want any borders though... Will look forward to hear more from what you are reporting!

Well, that was nicely put.

This one just doesn't appeal.
I might like it okay, but just can't see me taking what limited time I have for it.

I think you'll change your mind when you see my pictures. ;) LOL!

That one does sound interesting. Surprised that Zach isn't interested. I'm thinking that after he sees your photos he may regret not going.

We all have to face the consequences of our poor decisions sometime now, don't we. (see above)

Yes!! That's it exactly.
And then you casually drop it in conversation.
"Oh, I'm doing the exclusive Wanyama tour later this afternoon."

I'm going to my exclusive job today where I can still feel poor afterwards.

And in keeping with the "E" theme...

DSC08458_zpsibnpdt5y.jpg

Nicely done!

gesundheit

Raxmet!

I mean, you didn't struggle to terribly much. :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

Me too. But I've worn one last few trips and... nada. zilch. nothing.

We should start a "Bring back the LGMHs" Campaign!

Your heart is pure and your aim is true.

So my son only got 50% of my best qualities?

Correct.
And I don't like coffee either, so...

I thought we could be friends! (j/k! I have a lot of good friends who don't like coffee. 2, I think.)

Nice try. .....but I'm guessing no bonus contest points for that thinly veiled attempt at flattery...... :sad2:

Hah! Joke's on you! She said yes!
(And she doesn't give out flattery points. Might get some truth points, though.)

Well, that was nicely put.

Succinct and to the point.

I think you'll change your mind when you see my pictures. ;) LOL!

Somehow... I doubt it.
But you never know.

We all have to face the consequences of our poor decisions sometime now, don't we. (see above)

Kay did, in Europe.
"I don't want to go to some Opera house."
Later, after seeing the pictures.
"You didn't tell me it was going to look like that!"

I'm going to my exclusive job today where I can still feel poor afterwards.

:rotfl:

We should start a "Bring back the LGMHs" Campaign!

It'd be tougher now that Home Depot doesn't have them anymore.

So my son only got 50% of my best qualities?

So he hits the toilet?

:scared1:

So my son only got 50% of my best qualities?
Well. .... you're half right :scratchin

We should start a "Bring back the LGMHs" Campaign!
I'm sure I have one or two of those somewhere. ........ :thumbsup2

Hah! Joke's on you! She said yes!
(And she doesn't give out flattery points. Might get some truth points, though.)
Or Bs points. ........

(stupid autocorrect......that was supposed to be Bonus......) :rolleyes1

What more could a birthday prince or princess want than a brand spanking new carry-on and all the goods to slip inside, including a new ditty bag. That's what everyone calls a toiletries bag, right?
I thought that was a sack where you keep your music?

(Actually, my kids don't throw petty tantrums. That's my department for instances where say... coffee is late in consumption, dishes are stacked in the sink when I've been out all day, or laundry stench wafts out of the washing machine because everyone else was too lazy to move it over.)
Guess that gives a new slant on Andy telling Opie not to get his clothes dirty...... :scratchin

These gems should make traversing the length of any airport a breeze. And you KNOW we'll be doing that at least 6 times. Furthest gate. Every airport. Every time.
It's a tradition ::yes::

But wait, that's not all, Boys and Girls. The next stop was JC Penny's.
They still HAVE those. ....? :confused3

And every savvy traveler needs to organize their crap
Because there's nothing worse than having to keep unorganized crap in a random pile......

They even hang up, see? Don't be too jelly, k?
Unless you're Mark....and you ran out of peanut butter.

But the piece de resistance:
A sheet of sandpaper?

laminated cards about 3x4, with the color-coded Excel schedule with all of the details they'd need to know for each day including where we're eating, park hours, etc...
I can see those being quickly discarded into the Waste Please receptacle only a few steps away.....thanks to Walt:rotfl2:

Replies and thread ketchup tomorrow. :)
Now THAT can get messy when you're trying to sew that button back on. ...:headache:

Marv, Pat, and I have come up with a pretty good idea for that night that I think everyone can get on board with.
We HAVE? Oh yes, we have. Three bodies.....one mind!

The Trains will be under refurb the entire month of October,
No trains?!? Hmm.....might need to reschedule for a more acceptable time.....:sad1:

I naturally, like any good DisneyDork would do, started poking around in dangerous places.
Yes, DisneyDorks can get themselves in trouble very quickly that way...... :rolleyes2

I posed both options to Thing 1 and Thing 2, and naturally, like any set of siblings would do, they each chose something different.
Good thing you didn't have a thing 3. I could pose 2 options to my 3 DS's, and STILL get 3 different responses....... :faint:

All 3 of us are going on that one, because I can't very well leave a 14 year old to wander around alone. That's just not right.
Besides, who would be left to keep you on track? :rotfl:

It's exclusive to AKL Guests, and I doubt we'll pass this way again.(I love that word: "exclusive". Sounds like I'm actually a real contender in this game.
Or like Mark, you'll be waiting on them to say. ...We don't serve your kind here...... :stir:
