The ABC's of Trip Planning, Pt 1- K is for Keeping Things Kooky- Drinks V-Z; pg. 197 + New Link

Only a little?

Well.... are you offering incentives?
More brilliant writing?

Well, no. Not exactly. But 7 months is about how long my first pregnancy was. Seemed like forever.

Oh, it'll fly by.
Like a butterfly... that flits slowly from branch to branch until the eventual cocoon is formed and it goes to sleep waiting interminably for the time for it's emergence as a shiny new nurse.

So you're saying it would've been only slightly better than a spin on IaSW?

I'm retracting the statement.
After seeing a picture of the four of you... I want to be there.
I think it'd be sweet.

He was in the way.

Move it or lose it.

She's a smart, beautiful, very focused, girl who's an excellent shot, works hard, and is fun to boot. I think any guy will be lucky to have her and doubt she'll have to force anyone into procreating. We've had a few come around, but so far, nothing meets her (probably too) high standards.

Good. High standards is a good thing.

rum sort of concocts itself into amazing things without a ton of help.

Not for this guy.
I'll pass on the rum, thanks.

Obviously.

:thumbsup2

I had my glasses on. So no.

:faint:

Yes, they can be. That's why most of the villians are women, no?

Yes.

Because I've come to the point of stooping to inane mind games to keep me studying, posting the 'Z' photos will be my personal reward for spending the day studying.

Responses too!!

Meantime looking forward to all your comments. :)

Anyhow, time to get to the business of this update (which is infinitely better than the business of the aftermath of the Indian food that you'll see in a moment. Not the aftermath. The food. You're welcome.).
Thank goodness! For a second there I thought I had wandered over to a DIS Dad's update...........

Not a spectacular photo by any means, but the moment did serve to prompt 4 women to burst into "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" spontaneously and loudly. The evening was off to a perfect start.
Especially for those of us who weren't there to endure......er witness that in person! ::yes::

Here is a menu cover. Because that's what DISsers do. What TR would be complete without the needless addition of menu covers?
Making a mental note for future reference........... :rolleyes2

My own opinion (since this is my thread and can not only opine with redundant excess, but can also invite you to as well) is that this is an absurd Americanism which neither has any intended benefit or helps parents teach moderation at the time and age they feel is appropriate for their own children. (Which is why if they'd like a sip or 2 of wine at special occasions they are certainly welcome to in our own home.)
I tend to agree..........but then we seem to have a government that thinks it is better for them to meddle in every aspect of our lives instead of letting parents fulfill their responsibilities. Of course, sadly, in a lot of cases...........that might be a GOOD thing! :rolleyes1

The server suggested some Lassis for the "kids" which are a mango and yogurt smoothie type thing, and were actually pretty good. I should have gotten one with rum added.
Everything's better, with blue.............uh, rum in it! Okay, well maybe not everything.........but you know what i mean! :thumbsup2

Horrible pictures. Just scroll by them. ;)
Now why didn't you put this BEFORE the pictures...........so I wouldn't have already felt guilty about scrolling through them....... :confused3

If not, imagine plucking your own fingernails out and then dipping them in acid- that would come close.
You mean your fingers, not the fingernails.......right? ;)

About halfway there, it struck me that I had once again forgotten something very important. But I wasn't turning back because: 1) I had high heels on and, 2) something looked very ominous as we approached the theater. I can't think of one single time a theater was dark and the doors weren't opened half an hour before curtain. Huh. That's weird.
Uh oh.......... :scared1:

Ok, quick! Who still has battery and internet? Bek did, so she fired up Google Maps and let us know that we had 15 blocks to walk. In the rain. And high heels.
And NO umbrellas??? At least at this point I have to admit that was my guess........

Toward the end of play, we suddenly heard the Witch's voice BEHIND us! Not 2 rows back in the aisle 3 seats over, she appeared to make threats to the "Citizens of Oz" (the Audience). My youngest nearly wet herself with excitement over this close encounter.
You sure that was EXCITEMENT??? :rotfl:

It was magical to see the pure joy on her face during the entire show and squeeze my hand at every cool effect, song, or dance. Memories like that don't happen every day.
Maybe once a year..... for the past six years??? :scratchin

I wanted to add more to this update that was directly Disney Planning related, but I have to go get dressed.
Enjoy nude DISsing? Or just another example of Nursing School Brain?

Posting of zee photos, beginning zoon.

First, Beautiful hummingbird picture!

Last night my girls and I were treated to a magical evening complements of my generous Christmas gift to us. This was our 6th Annual Girls Only Dinner and Broadway Night. In the past, we've enjoyed Broadway Divas, Lion King, Phantom, Wicked, and last night... Wizard of Oz. (Yes, I can count, I think one year we watched Les Mis on screen, so it doesn't count as Broadway, sort of.)

That is so cool! I love girls nights, but how special that you've made it an annual theater trip. I love the theater. Being on Broadway is my dream job

I can't think of one single time a theater was dark and the doors weren't opened half an hour before curtain. Huh. That's

Oh no!!!!

Ah well.... I added an extra $44 bucks to the festivities.

Bummer. But at least you had a good time! Glad the show was amazing. My DH took me to see Wicked when they were in Denver but I had a horrible migraine throughout the show and don't remember much, so I'll just have to see it again! My fav. Was when we saw Phantom when we were in London quite a few years ago. It was the absolute best!

Looked like a nice evening! You're making me hungry for Indian food. Oh wait -- Judy's cooking up some Butter Chicken and Palak Paneer right now. Su-weet! Gotta go.

Butter chicken sounds GOOD But what is Palak Paneer???? I had Tacos and fruit for supper !! See I eat ethnic food !! Marv I am referring to the Tacos NOT the fruit :rotfl2:

Continuing our zigzagging tour through the alphabet (and the several iterations thereof) how about a few photos from our Feature Presentation- Letter Z.

Although very beautiful and a very obvious choice to begin with, I almost didn't include this (very stolen) photo. Why? Because it's NOT...

Go ahead. Finish it. You know you want to. +1 to all the Peeps who reply with it. Because even if you're a party pooper, I wanna hear it. It makes me smile.

:)

See?

upload_2016-3-12_19-37-23.png

Finding pictures, people, characters, attractions that begin with Z was pretty tough, so in order to save you all from a whole lotta blank real estate on this montage, I chose photos that *contain* a Letter Z. Some may be a bit tough.... let's see how you do.

Where is this? Hint: It contains a Letter Z.

Isn't Wheezy sweet? Makes me want to squeeze in a little karaoke soon.

How about a ZANY hat from Cirque du Soleil; La Nouba??

Where is Tate?

Hint: You could finish the ditty with....My oh my, Tatey's gettin' to play...

Here are some ama Z ing entertainers quite possibly from Zaire. Or Zimbabwe.

Actually, that's a lie, but it sounded good. The group's name is Tam Tam Congo (so I guess that would make them most likely from Congo, eh?) and they're amazing! @GoofyFan1515 and @Poolrat ready to shake some African-style booty with us?

Speaking of African countries, present day and historical alike, how about a cruise on the Z ambeZi. Book your trip soon through the agents in ZanZibar.

How about a dead Zebra?? KIDS! Stop playing with your food!

As always, feel free to add your own pictures to round out the gallery!

I am so far behind! Our middle school is performing Lion King Jr this weekend and I am the creative director for sets, costumes, props, and made all the puppets and masks like the Broadway musical uses. Over 1000 costumes we made for this show! Anyway... Hopefully I will be able to get caught up tomorrow.

Here is your Z character, at WDW, even at the resort you are going to stay at! Not my photo though

Disneys-Art-of-Animation-Resort_Full_16259.jpg

But, yesterday when I read about your announcement of z photos coming soon, I was thinking of posting an AK picture as a Not-A-Z.. Picture! Seems like great minds think alike!

Shoot!... Er... I mean... Post!

Why? Because it's NOT...

Go ahead. Finish it.

A Wildlife Sanctuary?
A Refuge?
A Conservation Area?

No?
Hm.

Must be tired.

I chose photos that *contain* a Letter Z.

That smacks of cheating.

How about a ZANY hat from Cirque du Soleil; La Nouba??

Be honest. Is it the hat, or the wearer that's zany?

Where is Tate?

Hint: You could finish the ditty with....My oh my, Tatey's gettin' to play...

Wayyy... too early. Need sleep.
Stupid Daylight Savings.

Thanks for explaining... Still too ti <yawn> tired.
5am came an hour early today.

How about a dead Zebra?? KIDS! Stop playing with your food!

It's not dead! It's resting and those lions are watching over it.

At least that's what my exhausted brain is saying.
Trying to stay awake.
Trying to...
try......zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Sounds like a wonderful evening out!

It was magical!

I totally agree with you about the drinking age. It's rather backwards in my opinion.

Seriously!

Bummer about the parking ticket but makes for a more interesting story!

Yeah, even those misfortunate events during a Disney trip make for entertaining TRs. When life gives you lemons... write a TR. LOL!

Well.... are you offering incentives?
More brilliant writing?

My aren't we flattering....

Oh, it'll fly by.
Like a butterfly... that flits slowly from branch to branch until the eventual cocoon is formed and it goes to sleep waiting interminably for the time for it's emergence as a shiny new nurse.

... AND quite eloquent. Gettin' your inner Keats on?

I'm retracting the statement.
After seeing a picture of the four of you... I want to be there.
I think it'd be sweet.

We can be a silly lot at times. We definitely know how to have fun, and behave ourselves when necessary.

Fabulous group Christmas gift! Plus a well timed reward night for you.

We love our annual night out, but yeah, this one came just when I needed it most! It'll take weeks, if not months, to shake this stress!

Yup, we have different rules at home as well. As a result, DD22 has 1 drink on occasion, and DD18 we have to watch a bit closer - she "helped clean up" Christmas dinner wine at 8 years old!

See? When given the opp to exercise moderation, responsibility and all, I think they better successfully navigate into adulthood.

LOL! My hubby has a similar story. Apparently, he got pretty giggly.

Glad you enjoyed the meal! I'm a spice wuss - one of my friends used to make me special samosas without most of the spices, and her poor DH accidentally sampled one! But I have finally graduated to eating samosas with the traditional red sauce, instead of *gasp* sour cream, so I'm making a little bit of progress.

Baby steps. Baby steps. HAHA!

Gorgeous ladies!

Thanks, Donna! It's fun to gussy up occasionally.

Meh - I paid my MC bill slightly late this month too. Legit - I was distracted by DD18's liver biopsy, but I suspect they hear a bunch of really good excuses every month...

Yes, I'd say a legit reason! I"m sure they do. Mine's just.... lame.

That's too bad. Unfortunately that can happen at any age, and usually happens a few times to us all.

Yeah, on the one hand, I"m sad for her, but on the other, it does help us grow up- a sad, but real rite of passage.

Recharging time is important too, especially on a long productive road like yours. Glad you had some time to yourself!

So true. It's just hard for this Type A, rather OCD, over-achieving type.

Thank goodness! For a second there I thought I had wandered over to a DIS Dad's update...........

I still need to wander over there. I could use a dose of raucous humor right about now.

Especially for those of us who weren't there to endure......er witness that in person! ::yes::

It could have been "The hills are aliiiiiiive..."

Making a mental note for future reference........... :rolleyes2

Menu covers; it's all the rage. Then again, I'm starting to wonder if your TR will EVER be complete. Menu covers or not. :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

I tend to agree..........but then we seem to have a government that thinks it is better for them to meddle in every aspect of our lives instead of letting parents fulfill their responsibilities. Of course, sadly, in a lot of cases...........that might be a GOOD thing! :rolleyes1

:headache::guilty::headache:

Everything's better, with blue.............uh, rum in it! Okay, well maybe not everything.........but you know what i mean! :thumbsup2

I'm not sure if it's more sad that you quoted a commercial from about 1970, or if I could finish it without even thinking twice about the reference.

Now why didn't you put this BEFORE the pictures...........so I wouldn't have already felt guilty about scrolling through them....... :confused3

Because making my readers feel guilty is a great way to make friends and influence others.

You mean your fingers, not the fingernails.......right? ;)

Watch what you say! My fingernails are very sensitive.

And NO umbrellas???

REAL Oregonians wouldn't be caught dead with an umbrella.

You sure that was EXCITEMENT??? :rotfl:

It was an awfully long show.

Enjoy nude DISsing? Or just another example of Nursing School Brain?

Hey! I had my glasses on!

That is so cool! I love girls nights, but how special that you've made it an annual theater trip. I love the theater. Being on Broadway is my dream job

Mine too! I wish I could sing even half as good as any those performers. I would love to be able to ice skate as well.

Wicked was very, very good too. The songs were great and costuming really well done. I've been sick during a show too, and nothing is more disappointing. My girls REALLY want to see Les Mis live; I'm hoping it comes to Portland or Seattle someday soon.

Looked like a nice evening! You're making me hungry for Indian food. Oh wait -- Judy's cooking up some Butter Chicken and Palak Paneer right now. Su-weet! Gotta go.

After going the other night, I looked up some recipes online, and it actually doesn't look as hard as I thought. I have all the spices and some pork thawing, so I'm going to give Korma a try tomorrow night.

Butter chicken sounds GOOD But what is Palak Paneer???? I had Tacos and fruit for supper !! See I eat ethnic food !! Marv I am referring to the Tacos NOT the fruit :rotfl2:

Paneer is a type of Indian cheese. Quite lovely! It doesn't really melt or get gooey, and has the consistency of a soft tofu, but is more flavorful. Palak is a purred spinach curry that is truly amazing.

Tacos are yummy too- especially street tacos with pico de gallo and goat cheese. Love me some taco truck grub!

Here is your Z character, at WDW, even at the resort you are going to stay at! Not my photo though

I had not thought of that one! I have several other ideas in mind that people could post; I sadly did not have any photos for them.

But, yesterday when I read about your announcement of z photos coming soon, I was thinking of posting an AK picture as a Not-A-Z.. Picture! Seems like great minds think alike!

Yes, they must! LOL! It is perfect for this round!

Shoot!... Er... I mean... Post!

Be careful what you ask for! ;)

A Wildlife Sanctuary?
A Refuge?
A Conservation Area?

No?
Hm.

Must be tired.

:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

Smart donkey

That smacks of cheating.

I never said I was perfect. Only practically perfect.

Be honest. Is it the hat, or the wearer that's zany?

Maybe a smidge. But only.

Wayyy... too early. Need sleep.
Stupid Daylight Savings.

I LOVE that it now is light later, but loathe that I'll be starting my 7:30 Final in the dark.

It's not dead! It's resting and those lions are watching over it.

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

How nice of those lions.

I will have to give a reluctant adieu until Wednesday, Friends. Tomorrow will find me curled up in the fetal position at a coffee shop with my other anxiety-ridden homies trying to cram in one last ounce of material that we, in futility, "learned" 10 weeks ago.

The last exam
*EVER* with this much stress attached in this nursing program is at 7:30 on Tuesday morning, followed by our exit interviews with our Advisors. There will be no small amount of celebrating afterwards. Wednesday, we go back for a half day of meetings where we will learn our Preceptor assignments and how all of that works.

preceptorship
[pre-sep´ter-ship](pl.pre·cep·tor·ship)
a short-term relationship between a student as novice and an experienced staff person (such as a professional nurse) as the preceptor who provides individual attention to the student's learning needs and feedback regarding performance; students experience relative independence in making decisions, setting priorities, management of time, and patient care activities.

Meantime, you have your assignment...

I'm gonna get myself into trouble one of these days, aren't I.

I never said I was perfect. Only practically perfect.

This is true. You did say that.

How nice of those lions.

They're Disney lions. What else would you expect?

I will have to give a reluctant adieu until Wednesday, Friends.

Bye!

The last exam *EVER*

OMG! Last one. Last. One!!!

Good luck!
Thinking of you!
You can do it!
Go Liesa! Go Liesa! Get busy! Ace an exam!

Meantime, you have your assignment...

To sleep?
So not going to happen.
