The ABC's of Trip Planning, Pt 1- K is for Keeping Things Kooky- Drinks V-Z; pg. 197 + New Link

One never knows what they'll get around here. One day ketchup, the next day, sushi, Thai curry, or tuna sandwiches. Just depends on how exhausted I am or how long it's been since I"ve shopped. Cuz, you know, I'm the only one with 2 functional arms and 2 working legs to shop with. :sad2::rolleyes2

This cracks me up, because I am the only one with 2 functional arms and 2 working legs to shop and cook, but Fran could order from Eat24 like no one's business so we would never starve! :rotfl2:

I'm getting to the point of either A) letting everyone starve until they find their functional legs or B) taking out a 2nd mortgage to pay for Eat24.

Chapter 41- O is for Opulent Opportunities for an Off Day

Day 6 Plans- Pt 1

Having likely stayed out a little too late the evening before at Yeehaw Bob, and having probably let my better judgement take a night off giving rise to possibly silly antics, it'll be a great morning to sleep in on this, Day 6 of the Graduation Celebration Extravaganza. Quite conceivably until 9:00 or later. We'll need it. Here's why:

Sitting by a pool that pipes in underwater tunes takes some seriously hard work. I mean imagine the energy and calories it'll take to sip a cold frou-frou drink reclining on a pool chair with my eyes closed! Imagine how much MORE energy it'll take to pool hop to the other 2 pools at our resort! It's a very long way and carrying my own towel may require refreshment with another drink and another dip. Of course, I wouldn't want to overdo it by turning over in my pool chair too many times- not getting too crazy or anything. Gots to save up the endurance for getting a mid-morning brunch from the Food Court.

Now, after I've thoroughly tuckered myself out scaring off the riff-raff with my not-fit-for-summer still kinda hawt 48 year-old body, we'll pack our meager necessities and head to Disney Springs- which I've just discovered takes a heck of a lot longer to type out than DTD. Which really sux, so they better make up for it with great new offerings! What do we have in mind here, you may be asking yourself. It would be really stupid of me to say, none of your business, because since you're here reading this, and I'm bothing to post it, it IS your business. Could actually be your business AND plan too if you care to join me for:

GRADUTATION CELEBRATION MEAL #2!!

At the Edison. My lastest, greatest obsession. If you haven't researched this yet, here is a link to the website which I've shared before, but it's been buried in chatter that I realize most of you don't read. And that's totally ok, because I am not reading most of the in-between banter either right now. But I will get back to doing that when I have my life back after Nursing School. Because intruding in on your lovey TRs is what I do best. ;) Right, Ponzi and Fran? Glenn is simply used/resigned to it by now.

http://www.eater.com/2015/6/10/8761145/disney-world-new-restaurant-the-edison-cabaret-live-show

Parts of it look a little (or a lot) too racy for my taste, but I can sit and savor the Steampunk decor from other vantage points and know I'll be completely in love with the place.

Anywho... I'm thinking a late lunch around 2:00 might be a nice option here, since we'll have taken in a later than usual brunchy something back at AoA. No idea what I'd like to order yet, but then again, I'll be posting an entire series of food-themed PTR chapters with menu options, budget statuses, and the like. You foodies won't be disappointed. Promise.

Disney Springs has far more to offer than food, and yes, we'll be perusing the opportunities there too. Some are even opulent for an off day- like Ghiradelli's for dessert. Maybe. We'll see how Edison fares up. But a LONG-standing hope of mine is that Nova Era isn't gone before we get there. I know everyone (but me) loved Off Kilter, and are sad they are gone; I would feel pretty sad like y'all if I couldn't see the Classical gone Modern style of oboe, an instrument dear to my heart. My grandmother played it in high school in the 30s and inspired me to take it up as well 50 years later throughout Jr and Sr. High in Symphony. From rockin' oboes and cellos to Legos, there's something for everyone. My son, who you'd think was too old for Legos sits in his bedroom right now making that tinkling little sound as he "plays" Legos. NO! He's not wissing in his pants! Stop that! He's building something amazing- even at 17. Later I'll do the Lego Firewalk of Death to say good-night. When he someday moves out, I will NOT miss that part of parenting.

That, Friends, takes us up to the evening's activities which I'll save for another update. Because I really should have been studying for the last hour instead of procrastinating while writing this up. But this is WAY more fun than learning about Addison's and Cushing's Diseases and how alcohol can destroy the liver. They say nurses are the worst patients on the planet. I'm starting to see why....

I just read this whole update and maybe I've had too much wine, but other than, you should have been studying, Edison seems like a cool place and your son is making a neato Lego thing in his room I'm lost.

If I missed anything major let me know. I go home tomorrow and then I will.be back to real life so not.so mucheck wine and.I'll have to cook my now meals!

Oh boy, Alison, yeah, I think you've been having a little fun! :rotfl2::drinking1:lmao:I could confuse you worse and say that my son is not peeing himself in his room.

None of my updates are really "major"- mostly drivel that some people might use to waste a little time. :rotfl::rotfl::surfweb::rotfl::rotfl:I just like to hear myself talk mostly. :scratchin

Way to go on your exam score - that is super cool that you found out right away. Gone are the days of waiting weeks for an actual human to grade your tests lol. I could go for some Ghiradelli right now...reading about it is making me want some serious chocolate.

Congrats on the A!!!!! Have to admit your update confused me a little but now adays that is the NORM for me !! I do not think I will ever see the end of the pile of work on my desk or my desk for that matter . But I did loose my work keys so that means I can'r t get into the money or the house:rotfl2::rotfl2: So that may be a good thing !! However after mid week the natives ( Individuals) will get hostile with money withdrawel, so I guew=ss I better call maintenance to come with BOLT cutters and new locks :faint::scratchin

Late lunches are always great in my book, only to be improved if "late breakfast" is also involved. Don't worry, you would be hawt at the pool if you were beside me. Advantage for me - my fluorescent white legs tend to blind anyone who attempts to look my way, so my anonymity is safe behind the glare.

Especially on days off from the parks! LOL! Let's just say that Nursing School hasn't been all that kind to the figure. OY! Too much sitting except on Clinical days. And yes, the PNW is bad, bad, bad for tanning. And Vit. D levels. So you'd be in good company.

Thanks! I love living in the digital age where results can be instant. :)

I have me some late night study nutrition in the form of dark choco right now. Salted caramel of course!! So YUMMY!!

Apparently, you were not the only one confused. Maybe my writing brain is just too addled to make much sense. Happily, the papers are done for this term and I can write more of what I actually enjoy, and the updates will improve and make more sense.... ;)

Oh BOY!! That could be a scary deal! Better cut some deals AND some locks!

We love AoA for the food and pool, the extra "beds" are nice too, actually they aren't bad at all. The AoA pool is what finally made my kids put their heads in the water. :fish: I don't know anything about Edison, but I'm sure looking forward to some Morimoto on my next visit. and my 7 yo refuses to call it Disney Springs, he is sticking with DTD. :rotfl2: He doesn't do well with change, though he really is looking forward to Star Wars land at DHS (which I heard is also changing name soon  again :rotfl:). Change is part of life, he'll get it eventually. Legos....I have a love/hate relationship with Legos. I love that my kids spend hours creating instead of killing their brain cells on game systems, but ouch, I do not like stepping on them, and they do seem to multiply don't they? Well your day sounds lovely as they all have, very relaxing. I better get to educating my children

Good point. And I'm still not sure it will be a must - visit destination for me, no matter what they call it.

Although, I'm hoping to slip over there for a quick visit to Jock Lindsey's in January.

And that's totally ok, because I am not reading most of the in-between banter either right now.
Good. You probably didn't see what I called you then.

Nothing wrong with that, at all. My wife's cousin who is in his mid-20's makes Lego toys all the time. In fact, he has created a side business through Facebook where he builds custom Lego toys and sells them. He had one that he made for an auction benefitting Make a wish that went for $10,000 this summer.

In other words, tell him to keep playing with those Legos!

Pace yourself... that's it.

Now, after I've thoroughly tuckered myself out scaring off the riff-raff with my not-fit-for-summer still kinda hawt 48 year-old body,

More like fending off the suitors while trying to ignore the wolf whistles and yearning glances.

I mentioned that elsewhere.

I couldn't see the video (at work) but I would think that Disney might tone it down a bit.
And I hope I'm wrong.

Check. Wissing on the Legos.
Gotcha.

Quite conceivably until 9:00 or later.

What is that like? Since having kids, I haven't made it past 7:00 a.m.

Sitting by a pool that pipes in underwater tunes takes some seriously hard work.

As Andy pointed out, what if you want to hear the music?

we'll pack our meager necessities and head to Disney Springs- which I've just discovered takes a heck of a lot longer to type out than DTD.

But now it has an unnecessarily convoluted backstory!

At the Edison. My lastest, greatest obsession.

That place looks really, really interesting. I'm looking forward to the reviews. I'm also interested in the Indiana Jones bar.

My son, who you'd think was too old for Legos sits in his bedroom right now making that tinkling little sound as he "plays" Legos.

Hey, I still play with Legos. In fact, when I talk to kids in school about engineering I usually produce a set of Lego plans to show them that they all have access to engineering drawings in their own homes.

NO! He's not wissing in his pants!

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Looks like I have some work to do here.... Gotta put in my time of nose in the books, today then I'll be back.

I have to admit, the Edison sounds pretty cool. I love me some steampunk. I just started reading the new Gail Carriger book - ever heard of her?

I also agree on the love/hate relationship with Lego. I'm actually kinda sad my kids really don't play with them anymore, although I really don't miss the Lego minefield. Dd was bummed that now that she finally has read all the Harry Potter books, they don't seem to have the HP sets in the stores anymore.

I really am pretty excited about the pool. No, it's not Storm-Along, but hey, not sure that that's worth more than $200 more. I need to look more into Morimoto too. I can fit it all in during this trip- gosh darn it's so hard to pick and choose!

I heard today that Star Wars Weekend is going bye-bye too. Just rumor though....

Yes, Legos have babies daily. It's amazing! Kinda like the dishes and laundry. After 25 years of marriage and motherhood, I still cannot figure out how that happens...

But you can't hear it piping in the underwater tunes if you're sitting next to the pool!

OH, FINE. I'll get in. But I won't take responsibility if it overflows.

Good point. And I'm still not sure it will be a must - visit destination for me, no matter what they call it.

It's fun to poke around. Some of the stuff is cool; kinda like the Christmas shop, and the Bathworks place is nice to pick up some bathbombs for a Redneck Spa treatment back at the resort.

Although, I'm hoping to slip over there for a quick visit to Jock Lindsey's in January.

ME TOO! If you like it well enough, you could go back. Say, next October. ;)

Good. You probably didn't see what I called you then.

My infamy grows. Nice.

Nothing wrong with that, at all. My wife's cousin who is in his mid-20's makes Lego toys all the time. In fact, he has created a side business through Facebook where he builds custom Lego toys and sells them. Zowie! Nice gig going there! Is he hiring??

In other words, tell him to keep playing with those Legos!

I always tell him to "grow up". You've given me new ways to channel it.

My goodness... you're like a machine!

I know. Scary!

I would replace the word "may" with "will".

My arm seems to be twisting so easily tonight.

Pace yourself... that's it.

It'll be rough! I may need someone to temper the pace....

More like fending off the suitors while trying to ignore the wolf whistles and yearning glances.

Uh-huh. I'll be asleep or deep in iPod-land, so really I think I'll be ok.

I mentioned that elsewhere.
People are going to writing how they're going to DS and others are going to wonder why you're going to your son.

I actually thought of that, and exactly why I DIDN'T. Whine, whine, whine. Hang on, be right back, it's 5:00 here....

::yes:: Place looks so cool.

RIGHT?! I adore the leathers and mixed metals, and antique-y-ness of it all! Perfect for a cozy hang out!

::yes:: And I wouldn't want it any other way.

:goodvibes

Like I said, I can't see the vid so I don't know how racy it was... but I really wouldn't mind something a bit more adult at Disney.

They may, and then again, they may not. I've heard the whole vibe is going "more adult" at DS (nope, don't like it). At Disney Springs. It may indeed stay rather rique. We'll see. The Contortionist Acts sound super cool as well!!

Another place on my wish list.
Some day.
Maybe October 2016...

I have a growning list, and am struggling to find a slot for Jock Lindsays. After I study liver stuff tonight, I'm going to take a little peek at my spreadsheet to see what can be done. Which seems highly ironic and bordering on humorous. :lmao:

Never heard of that. Where? What?

I know it's really ecclectic and probably about as far from your style as it can get, but I really love it!

Check. Wissing on the Legos.
Gotcha.

Well, I didn't say where the tinkling sound was going!

Uh-huh. I'll be asleep or deep in iPod-land, so really I think I'll be ok.

Ah electronics. Our security blanket from the real world...

Home. Saw the vid. It was pretty tame compared to what it could be.
The ladies weren't exposing much more than legs and shoulders and arms.

I know it's really ecclectic and probably about as far from your style as it can get, but I really love it!

You'd think so... and you'd be wrong.
I listen to Classic rock mostly.
And other stuff too from time to time... like... Glen Miller.

Well, I didn't say where the tinkling sound was going!

True.
