The ABC's of Trip Planning, Pt 1- K is for Keeping Things Kooky- Drinks V-Z; pg. 197 + New Link

What is that like? Since having kids, I haven't made it past 7:00 a.m.

They get older and your life will involve lazy Saturday mornings again. Believe it or not, it's a short season- and you'll make it.

As Andy pointed out, what if you want to hear the music?

Yeah, yeah, I'll get in. At least to say I do at least once.

But now it has an unnecessarily convoluted backstory!

.... which I don't know. But if it involves politics I'm ok with that.

That place looks really, really interesting. I'm looking forward to the reviews. I'm also interested in the Indiana Jones bar.

We all are!!! Going to look at my spreadsheets tonight to see where it's going to fit in... So many choices!!! GAH!

Hey, I still play with Legos. In fact, when I talk to kids in school about engineering I usually produce a set of Lego plans to show them that they all have access to engineering drawings in their own homes.

The kind of learning that kids might actually remember. Odd.

I have to admit, the Edison sounds pretty cool. I love me some steampunk. I just started reading the new Gail Carriger book - ever heard of her?

I have not! I'll check into it! Maybe a good read for pool time next year...

I also agree on the love/hate relationship with Lego. I'm actually kinda sad my kids really don't play with them anymore, although I really don't miss the Lego minefield. Dd was bummed that now that she finally has read all the Harry Potter books, they don't seem to have the HP sets in the stores anymore.

I didn't even know they made them! I should watch the Goodwill and eBay for them!

Ah electronics. Our security blanket from the real world...

On occasion, I do love to hide away. But still be with friends. Speaking of e-friends: Just heard from Pat and Marv. Who had treats at La Cava. :sniff sniff: Without me. Only 11 months to do, and it'll be WITH me!!!

Home. Saw the vid. It was pretty tame compared to what it could be.
The ladies weren't exposing much more than legs and shoulders and arms.

True. Racy, yes. Overdone, possibly, or not. I still think the contortionists and live music will be better!

You'd think so... and you'd be wrong.
I listen to Classic rock mostly.
And other stuff too from time to time... like... Glen Miller.

Gasp! I LOVE Glen Miller. Almost as much as the crustless pumpkin pie I just consumed.

I always speak the truth. ;)

But different. Different is definitely good.

I lked Glen Miller more.
Because I'm not a pumpkin pie fan.
I'll eat it... but not really a fan.

I always speak the truth. ;)

Of course you do! A mom and a nurse?!?!? Sheesh, does it get anymore honest than that?

I have not! I'll check into it! Maybe a good read for pool time next year...

She wrote the Parasol Protectorate series (starts with Soulless) as adult fiction, then the Finishing School series (YA), which is the one she just published #4. Basically, vampires, werewolves and espionage in a steampunk Victorian England setting. Lots of fun...

To equally important things. Like lunch. At the suggestion of Glenn, if we've already made it over to Sanaa on our first AK day, we'll forage at the Market Place. But you know, seriously, I have not made up my mind AT ALL about where to really sink my teeth into. Yak and Yeti is a great place for a DumSummy nosh, and the Flame Tree is always a great place to eat in a pretty setting as well. Honestly, until I can sit down with some serious time on my hands with my spreadsheets, look at prices and menus again, and ask the kids to give their votes (may be going with a blind voting system with points and stuff) I may not truly be able to say for sure. All the options are great ones; we won't be going hungry. Christmas break will be the time of intense planning and finalizing things more.

What?! You got a suggestion from Glenn but are still tempting fate by potentially putting it to a family vote??? ;) Just kidding -- everybody's gotta be happy with the decision.

Made the decision a while ago that my Official Celebration Dinner will be at the Flying Fish. That's right a new-to-me place (but then again, my list of never-tried-places is still pretty long). Super-de-dooper excited to finally get here after copious amounts of fabulous reviews by my DISFriends. You are all cordially invited to come and celebrate with me, and then head over to the late Yeehaw Bob show at POR. Should be a great time of merry-making, silly dancing, sing-alongy, funness that I'd love to get photos of you at so I can post. ;)

That sounds like an awesome night! I loved my meal at Flying Fish, and of course Bob is a hoot.

Glenn is simply used/resigned to it by now.

I wouldn't have it any other way.

I would feel pretty sad like y'all if I couldn't see the Classical gone Modern style of oboe, an instrument dear to my heart.

Marlene played it in high school and is still studying it in college. I'll send you something via pm.

Later I'll do the Lego Firewalk of Death to say good-night. When he someday moves out, I will NOT miss that part of parenting.

I saw a shirt recently on shirt.woot.com that had the "Don't tread on me" logo with the snake that you are probably familiar with, except the snake was made out of Legos!

I really am pretty excited about the pool. No, it's not Storm-Along, but hey, not sure that that's worth more than $200 more. I need to look more into Morimoto too. I can fit it all in during this trip- gosh darn it's so hard to pick and choose!

I heard today that Star Wars Weekend is going bye-bye too. Just rumor though....

Yes, Legos have babies daily. It's amazing! Kinda like the dishes and laundry. After 25 years of marriage and motherhood, I still cannot figure out how that happens...

UGH, so the rumor was true. I kinda had the same idea too, because I wondered how they would have it with the construction and what not. But man is my little guy upset. I've explained how basically he can have Star Wars Weekends all the time once the new area if built and we can go when it's not so hot so he can actually wear the costumes he wants to wear. But he is more about getting pictures with every Star Wars character.

But different. Different is definitely good.

OH yes! Yes, it. IS!

I lked Glen Miller more.
Because I'm not a pumpkin pie fan.
I'll eat it... but not really a fan.

I'm the same with most pies. I like custard (basically a pumpkin pie without the crust is just that)- especially creme brulee. But pie just doesn't float my boat.

Of course you do! A mom and a nurse?!?!? Sheesh, does it get anymore honest than that?

Both tend to be honest. And bossy. I can do both pretty darn well.

She wrote the Parasol Protectorate series (starts with Soulless) as adult fiction, then the Finishing School series (YA), which is the one she just published #4. Basically, vampires, werewolves and espionage in a steampunk Victorian England setting. Lots of fun...

Sounds intriguing! I'll take a peek!

What?! You got a suggestion from Glenn but are still tempting fate by potentially putting it to a family vote??? ;) Just kidding -- everybody's gotta be happy with the decision.

Honestly, I think it's going to come down to whatever sounds good at the time. I know all of us would love the Gyros AND the ribs there. But then again, we love pretty much all food- none of us is really picky at all. Except the DD who is a hater of all things mushroom and tomato. I have no idea how she survives without these 2 basic food groups, but....

That sounds like an awesome night! I loved my meal at Flying Fish, and of course Bob is a hoot.

He puts on a GREAT show! Something for everyone right there!

I wouldn't have it any other way.

I'm just giving you crap. That's what makes the DISWorld go 'round.

Marlene played it in high school and is still studying it in college. I'll send you something via pm.

Excellent performance! It's an incredibly difficult instrument to tackle and play even remotely well- which I never did. She can be very proud of the level she's gotten to!

I saw a shirt recently on shirt.woot.com that had the "Don't tread on me" logo with the snake that you are probably familiar with, except the snake was made out of Legos!

Buahahahahaha! Love it! A perfect play on words!!

Yeah it is. I'm not surprised. There is no way they can keep that up during the construction. There will be a lot of upset people who can't deal with change very well (myself included in a few things!) but I think we'll all be happy(ier) when it's all said and done. And I can guarantee there will still be characters to Meet and Greet! ;)

One of my favorite ways to procr.... erm... take a study break is to hop on here and find another excuse to post trip-related news. Or not. I'm becoming quite adept at posting a lot of just.... stuff. But it makes me happy, so deal with it.

Another thing that makes me equisitely happy is getting gifts from from my DISFriends! Last week I got a cryptic message from Jill (@jedijill) asking for my address. Hmmmm, I thought to myself. What could this be?

Lo and behold, yesterday, I happened to be first at the mailbox, and a little brown package had my name on it!! I delicatly opened it (that's a lie, I ripped it open like 3 year old on Christmas morning) and out popped a cute little Nurse Minnie pin. Now I have a purple one from Marv and a PINK one from Jill!!! Which is so abundantly awesome because now I can have one for work (cuz I'm a real nurse AND a student!) and one for Clinicals for school. So yeah, I'm pretty darn tootin' excited. I get that way when I get excited. Don't judge.

Thank you, Jill! I really love it and have it on my uniform already for Friday Clinicals. :)

Also, I have gone through all my photos from trips past and found a few 'O' photos that might work. Marginally. N and O have proven to be a bit problematic. But that's ok. I like going through my old Disney photos just for fun.

Aaaaaand a stretch, but does a One Man Band qualify?

Lastly, some
Overwhelmingly Outstanding News:

Firstly, I have now purchased the last ticket needed for our little intrepid touring troupe. I got a 4 day PH for the guy who's choosing to go diving or climbing somewhere else for most of our trip. Which is fine, that's what he enjoys best and he'll join us for the last few days. It'll make touring easier and I won't have to fight the early mornings, late nights, and the Meets I'm SO looking forward to.

Secondly, I have paid off the rest of the resort stay at Boardwalk. Brook is still looking for any deals that could come out between now and October, and says one is likely, and also to see if AKL opens up. If not, fine. The idea of walking right into EPCOT for F&W has really grown on me! So, all that's left for pre-pay is our airline tickets.

The bad news is that was the end of my savings that isn't already ear-marked for the next (and LAST!!!!!) 2 terms of Tuition. At $400 pp that's $1,600 I'll need in the next 5 months. No problem. That's only 8 days of work. The first of which is Monday. And I already have a paycheck for a day headed my way tomorrow. So basically, 3 down, 1 to go. I wish the airlines put out their sales closer than 6 months out!

I'm hoping that by next October, I'll have passed my Boards, and will have gotten a month or more of work in as well! That will be what pays for the food and incidentals on the trip. A LOT of people are starting to ask me what kind of nursing I want to go into when this is all said and done. My short answer is I DON"T KNOW! I really don't. There are a lot of areas I am interested in and could see myself doing fairly well at. My first idea is a surgi-center that does outpatient surgeries. I like the idea of days and weekdays to be exact. And I like the idea of the precision and detail that's needed. But I can see myself doing hospice care, community nursing, or even a clinic. We'll have to just see.....

So, progress, right?

Hope you are all having a GREAT day, especially my American friends on this holiday!

Yea! I finally get a chance to catch up and comment! My iternet was being all weird the last couple of days too, which was making my disboarding very frustrating!

Having likely stayed out a little too late the evening before at Yeehaw Bob, and having probably let my better judgement take a night off giving rise to possibly silly antics, it'll be a great morning to sleep in
But that is what celebrations are all about, right? Silly antics and dancing in cages and stuff :rolleyes1

I mean imagine the energy and calories it'll take to sip a cold frou-frou drink reclining on a pool chair with my eyes closed! Imagine how much MORE energy it'
Mmmm, from-frou drinks..:drinking1:thumbsup2

At the Edison. My lastest, greatest obsession. If you haven't researched this yet, here is a link to the web

I haven't done much research on that one yet but from what I've seen it looks really cool!

I'll be posting an entire series of food-themed PTR chapters with menu options, budget statuses, and the like. You foodies won't be disappointed. Promise.

Bring it on sister!

Secondly, I have paid off the rest of the resort stay at Boardwalk.

Nice! That has got to feel good!

Is it bad that the first thing I thought was "procreate"?

But it makes me happy, so deal with it.

Oh, I'm perfectly happy with that.

I delicatly opened it (that's a lie, I ripped it open like 3 year old on Christmas morning)

and out popped a cute little Nurse Minnie pin.

Nice!

Uh..... "open"?

Firstly, I have now purchased the last ticket needed for our little intrepid touring troupe.

Woot!

Secondly, I have paid off the rest of the resort stay at Boardwalk.

Double Woot!

A LOT of people are starting to ask me what kind of nursing I want to go into when this is all said and done. My short answer is I DON"T KNOW! I really don't.

Relax. It'll come when it comes.

Hope you are all having a GREAT day, especially my American friends on this holiday!

Well, I'm not American, but I was enjoying the holiday.
(at work now)
It's a rare weekday when all four of us our home.
Ruby said "Make waffles!" So I did.
Then spent some time with Kay.
I asked her to go shopping with me (since she wanted to make something for dinner).
I let her drive the car around the block a couple of times.

Her first time!

And my car's a standard, not an automatic.

I hate when that happens! I really depend on the nets for school.

But that is what celebrations are all about, right? Silly antics and dancing in cages and stuff :rolleyes1

Yes, that's exactly what Celebrations are for! Especially this one!

Mmmm, from-frou drinks..:drinking1:thumbsup2

I'm glad you approve! Care to join me for one?

I haven't done much research on that one yet but from what I've seen it looks really cool!

Bring it on sister!

All in good time.... ;)

Nice! That has got to feel good!

Boy does it EVER!!!

Is it bad that the first thing I thought was "procreate"?

How do you know that's not what I meant?

Oh, I'm perfectly happy with that.

Yay! I"m happy to oblige!

Uh..... "open"?

Not bad! Seriously, I'd have thought 'O' would have been WAY easier!

Relax. It'll come when it comes.

I know! But I am not known for being very patient. AT all.

I hope you put a slice of bacon in each one, cooked right there IN the dough, IN the waffler! It's the only proper way.

I learned on an standard/manual as well. Only burned up one clutch, so it went really well.

I can understand that. But anything for an excuse to travel down memory lane.

The idea of walking right into EPCOT for F&W has really grown on me! So, all that's left for pre-pay is our airline tickets.
I really like that too. I think I'd actually rather stay at the Boardwalk for that reason alone.

Wow! Things are really coming together nicely for you right now! Keep up the hard work, because it is definitely paying off!

I kind of think that's a good thing. If you're not sure, but it is because there are several areas you're interested in that should really help you out finding different good options available to you rather than pigeon holing yourself into taking something that might not be the best fit.

I'm glad you enjoyed the pin! I was hoping to find one and the pin shop at the Poly came through!

You are making so much progress with paying your trip off! It will be so much more fun to know its all paid for before you go!

Jill in CO

How do you know that's not what I meant?

Of course it is. What else could it be.
I just found it odd that it's the first thing that popped into my head.

I thought... "Liesa? Oh, she must mean procreate. What else could it be?"

Not bad! Seriously, I'd have thought 'O' would have been WAY easier!

I have a bad thought... so I'll just keep my mouth shut and not get banned from the DIS.

I know! But I am not known for being very patient. AT all.

No, Liesa. No. You nurse. You not patient. You nurse patient.

I hope you put a slice of bacon in each one, cooked right there IN the dough, IN the waffler! It's the only proper way.

Holy!!! Never thought of that!
But these guys cook fast, pretty sure the bacon would still be pretty raw if I did that.

I learned on an standard/manual as well. Only burned up one clutch, so it went really well.

:lmao:

^ IS THIS POSSIBLE!?!?!?!?! Oh man! I can't wait to get back here later tonight after our dinner soiree with some people we're just getting to know. :isgiddywithhappineswiththis"new"reader:

Wow, that really is fantastic news! Hope those plane tickets are in your pocket soon. It's a great feeling when the only thing left on the list is to enjoy the vacation.
