Day 3 - Monday, February 5, 2001

Today it warmed up to mid-70’s and was sunny (and it remained like that for the rest of
our trip). We had breakfast at Chef Mickey’s, which we all enjoyed. The food was
excellent, the character interaction was good and a great time was had by all. We used
our flex feature to pay for this meal. We then caught a bus to the Ticket and
Transportation Center, and then switched to a new bus to get to Downtown Disney, our
destination for the day. Disney Quest was a huge hit with Tara. We had a hard time
getting her out of there! We started with Buzz Lightyear’s Astroblaster (basically bumper
cars with rubber balls that can be shot at other cars). She rode this twice, once with me
and once with Dad. Then we played for a while on the “old” video games, Pacman,
Millipede, Ms. Pacman, Donkey Kong, etc. Next we went to Ride the Comix, a virtual
reality game where you fight the bad guys “inside” a comic book - this was lots of fun.
The helmets were rather heavy, but I managed to acquit myself creditably. The seat belt
would not go around me here, and the CM brought an extender so that I could fit
comfortably without making a fuss - very nicely done.

We also checked out the Pinball Slam game, where you become the pinball in the game
and have to jump from side to side, front and back to make your ball move. My daughter
was very good at this, and she did it three times, placing first, second and third in those
three games. The one game that I did, I came in second, but I was too worn out to play
again.

We stopped at the Wonderland Cafe for lemonade, a strawberry smoothie and a Coke.
Tara played on the computer while Larry and I recuperated a bit from all this fun. I don’t
remember the exact order of what we did next, but I remember we hit the Aladdin ride
(which was also virtual reality), the Jungle Cruise (I really enjoyed this one, it seemed
like we were really paddling down white water rapids), the Alien Encounter (where you
drive a ship to pick people up before they are destroyed by aliens), and the Pirates ride
(where one person drives the ship, and others shoot cannonballs at enemy ships). My
daughter made a CD as a souvenir, where you pick out the music, lyrics and who sings it.
She enjoyed the process, but when she played it back later, it didn’t come out as she had
programmed it. We don’t know if she hit a wrong button or if one of the CM’s did, but at
any rate, she would like to try it again when we go back next time.

Her favorite activity here was CyberSpace Mountain. She designed two different roller
coasters and rode each of them, and said it was one of the neatest things she has ever
done.

We ate dinner at the Pasta side of the cafe. Tara and I had fettuccine alfredo and Larry
had a deli sandwich. About $22.00 for us. We then went over to the Cirque tent, to
await our show there. They let us in at 5:30 p.m., and we enjoyed the pre-show with the
two clowns. The show began at 6:00 p.m., and it was sensational. Some of what I saw I
would not have believed if it had not been right in front of me. I will not even attempt to
describe it - it has to be seen to be believed. A definite DO NOT MISS!! All three of us
were very impressed with it.

After the show, we rode the boat over to the Marketplace to do some shopping. We
picked out our souvenirs and decided to call it a night. I really wanted to go to the
Comedy Club at Pleasure Island, but knew I would not enjoy it since I was so tired.
Besides, we have a big day tomorrow!!

On to day 4!!

Another great day. :)
