Day 2 - Sunday, February 4, 2001

Today was also chilly, low 60’s, windy, and occasional misting rain. After breakfast in
the food court, we went to Epcot, headed straight for Test Track and were able to ride it
twice. What a blast! This is my daughter’s new favorite ride in Epcot. We all really
enjoyed this one. We saw the Universe of Energy show. This was okay, but nothing to
really write home about. Went to Wonders of Life pavilion and rode Body Wars, which
is a pretty cool ride even if it has been around for a while. I wanted to see Cranium
Command and the others didn’t, so we agreed to meet after the show. I enjoyed watching
the 12-year-old boy’s brain being maneuvered by George Wendt, Jon Lovitz, Dana
Carvey, and the others. When I came out, my family found me and said “You have to see
this - these guys are hysterical.” So we went to see a show from the Anacomical Players,
who I had never noticed before. This is in the center of the Wonders of Life pavilion,
and we watched the show while enjoying a yogurt shake from the Pure and Simple
Pleasures shop. These guys were hysterically funny!! If you ever have a few extra
minutes, take in one of their shows - you’ll be glad you did.

Next was Spaceship Earth, which has always been one of my favorites. After this ride,
we checked out The Living Seas. This has changed since we were here last, and we were
not particularly impressed with the set up. Glad I saw it, but don’t think I will take the
time again.

On to the Land, where I wanted to see the Circle of Life show. We had done the boat
ride and Food Rocks show last time we were here, and had no interest in repeating those,
so Tara and I enjoyed the show while Dad rested outside. We were starting to tire, so
decided to do one more pavilion and then go back to rest up.

We rode the new Journey to Your Imagination ride next. I know this has gotten lots of
negative comments, but I thought it was kind of cute. Figment does not appear much,
that’s true, but it wasn’t a bad ride. Nothing I would wait lots of time for, but I enjoyed
it. We took in the Honey, I Shrunk the Audience show, which we enjoyed as much as the
last time we saw it. Now it was time for a rest back in the room. I did not consciously
plan for us to rest each afternoon, but it turned out we all needed the break and it helped
us to have a better time if we recharged with a nap.

We stopped at Mousegear on the way out, and I bought two boxes of Mickeyroni and
cheese to take home. I prepared that for dinner the day after we got home, and it was
really good!

We caught the bus back to Dixie and while we waited for others to get on, the bus driver
noticed that my daughter’s shoe was untied, so he tied it for her! Talk about going above
and beyond the call of duty! He was really nice and we enjoyed talking with him on the
way back to our room. Disney magic is everywhere here!

We had a PS for Biergarten tonight, but there was no way we were going to get back for
it in time, so I canceled it. Maybe next trip! Instead, we ordered pizza and had it
delivered to our room. It was very good and I would do this again - very convenient.

Tonight we had an Illuminations (Specialty) cruise. We went back to Epcot, walked
through the International Gateway, and caught a boat to the marina at the Yacht and
Beach Club. Our captain was Cindy, and she did a great job. I had ordered a birthday
cruise for my daughter, even though it was not her birthday, because I wanted a surprise
for her with a cake and drinks, and this was the only way to accomplish that. Once we
had tooled around the lake a bit, Cindy parked our boat under the bridge for Illuminations
and brought out the cake, which read “For Tara, the Best Daughter in the World”. I had
asked that it not be chocolate, since my husband is allergic to chocolate, and my request
was granted. It was delicious, the show was absolutely outstanding, and my husband
could not believe how close we were to the action. Tara said she had never seen
anything like it before, and she gave me a big hug and thanks for her surprise. Larry says
he wants to do this again.

The only problem we had was trying to get back to our room after the cruise. The boat
that we had taken over from the International Gateway was not going back, because
Epcot was now closed. So we had to take a bus from the Yacht Club to Downtown
Disney, get off at Pleasure Island and take another bus from there to Dixie Landings. It
took about an hour and a half to get back, but it was worth it. A definite trip highlight!

On to day 3!

It is fun to bring things home to enjoy after your trip isnt it. We brought home a few things too. I played the all exciting "Ride the Bus" game trying to get from Wilderness Lodge to All Star Music last December. Boy what a ride!!

What a great surprise for your daughter! I hope she enjoyed the cake.

Sounds like you had a great day. I'm sure your daughter will always remember the special cruise you planned!

I did the cruise in July - its a great way to see the show. A fun day. Thanks for posting!
