The 90s weren’t THAT long ago, right?….Throwback Trip Reports! (Updated 9/2 - 2006 Trip)

June 2013 Part 15: More Epcot!

After a nice break at the hotel, we made our way back into Epcot.

We of course did our favorite activity once arriving….took pictures!!!!

There was a photopass photographer at the America pavilion who was amazing and took so many pictures of us and did a ton of the magic shots, we were having so much fun with him!

At some point we decided that we were in the mood for ice cream, so made our way back to the BC and over to Beaches n Cream!

We took another break after the ice cream to rest a bit before our night adventure!

Next up: Old School After Hours!

I think of all the past activities that I miss the most was all the Star Wars things they had at Hollywood Studios. There was a stage show, a parade, and films about the movies. I also miss trading trinkets with the Jawas.

The more I think about HS, the more I remember what I used to like. There were live shows like "Who Wants to be a Millionaire", which my son actually made it to the stage, twice. There was a show where they took a few people out of the audience to play characters. My husband got to be a detective in that one. And the Backlot Tour was fun. The best fireworks show ever was the one that ran for a short time and had the music from John Williams.

Ahhhh Star Wars Weekends - those were the best. Such great energy, Storm Troopers greeting you as you walked into the park, the mad dash to sign your kids up for Jedi training, parades, character meet and greets. SIGH.

Yes! We loved the previous HS! We did Who Wants to be a Millionaire every trip when it was around. I remember that show where audience members got to play characters, they had one from I Love Lucy in the chocolate factory that I distinctly remember! I miss these shows, they were so great.

I'm surprised they don't do this anymore, especially the Jedi training, that was so popular!

I can't believe I just found this. Where have I been??? Umm...let's see. Luggage service - I know that goes back to at least 2008 because I remember using it on my trips from St. Louis. Also - how has your mom not aged? She looks the same in this report and your most recent. Not fair, mom, not fair.

Guys, I hit the motherload....I found this old album/keepsake book and it has guides from 1996 through 2006! I have a lot of scanning in my future
This is amazing! I wish I had some of those from past visits.

Also, I really miss the Animal Kingdom parade. It was so much fun.

Haha, welcome! Did the luggage service really go that far back!?!? Wow! I don't remember it from those trips at all!

And seriously, my mom has the best genes ever! I recently reconnected with a friend from HS on Facebook, and one of her first comments was "how does you mom look the same now as she did in the 90s?" :rotfl2: My mom really doesn't age, it's crazy, and I'm jealous. I wish I got those genes!

Hello everyone! Sorry for the delay in updates. I've been trying for weeks now to find our menu from Victoria and Alberts since that part of the TR is coming up soon, and I just can't find it anywhere! The frustrating thing is it used to be in a specific drawer, but a few years ago I repurposed that drawer and moved the menu "somewhere safe" which of course means I have no idea where I put it! So at this point I'm going to give up trying to find it and just continue with the TR. If it does pop up at some point I'll update with the food items. So keep an eye out for an update coming soon!

June 2013 Part 16: Old School After Hours!

After a mid afternoon break we were ready to head out for our night plans. This evening we were going to an after hours type event at Magic Kingdom! I’m actually not sure what these were called back then, I have a flyer from one from the early 2000s where it was called E-Ride night at Magic Kingdom, so I’m guessing it wasn’t actually called After Hours at this point, but I have no clue what it was called.

Since we had plenty of time to get there, we decided to walk through Epcot to get to the monorail, and then monorail up to the MK.

Of course we took pictures throughout Epcot.

Since we were walking right by the Disney Visa character meet, we decided to pop in to meet them again.

Finally we made it to the monorail and were off to the MK!

Once in MK, we once again did our favorite activity, took pictures!!!!

Apparently this year we were really big on meeting the characters, so we made our way to a character meet in the MK to see some of our favorites!

As we waited for the event to start we strolled around getting more pictures, and eventually found ourselves on the riverboat!

Next up: More After Hours!

June 2013 Part 17: More After Hours!

After our ride on the riverboat, I believe we went on some rides in the area, probably Thunder since we have no pictures.

We also took some more pictures on Main Street now that it was getting dark out.

We ended up watching the fireworks this evening from behind the castle, it was nice to get away from the crowds!

After the show we made our way over to Buzz, it was competition time!

We rode space after Buzz, I believe at this point we were within the event time.

I’m sure we rode some other rides before popping back to Main Street to get pictures with hardly anyone in them!

It was a fun night, and I feel like the price was super low, like $15 or something. Again the old flyer I have from the early 2000s had the price of $10!

Next up: Hollywood Studios!

June 2013 Part 18: Hollywood Studios!

This morning we were headed over to Hollywood Studios!

As always, we took tons of pictures on the way in.

We then made our way to ToT for our first ride of the day!

Since we were right there, we hopped over to RnR next.

We then strolled around the park getting more pictures.

I kind of miss the streets of America.

We must have gotten a FP for RnR since we rode it again after our stroll around the park.

Eventually we made our way out, and apparently boated over to Epcot where it looks like all we did was get some pictures. :rotfl2:

After a short visit at Epcot, we made our way back to the BC to rest and get ready for the night.

Next up: Chefs Table at Victoria and Alberts, part 1

We used to walk through Epcot from YC/BC all the time to get to and from MK. Now we only do that occasionally, since it is actually a fairly long walk. :)
We rode space after Buzz, I believe at this point we were within the event time.
Your mom is really enjoying the ride. :)
