The 1900 Loop

Is it as isolated as it looks it the ariel view? I was looking at MSN Maps and comparing the 100-200 with the 1900 and the 100-200 looked like a parking lot compared to the 1900. Some of the sites looked far apart.

I have stayed in 100 and 1900. 100 does not have much space between sites. Pretty tight backing in to some of the sites too. I think 1900 is better on both counts. I haven't stayed in either since the clearing of all the ground cover and stuff, but that of course wouldn't affect the space.

I prefer 100 just for it's proximity to all the action. As long as I can find a place to set the zero gravity chairs and not have to face the neighbors, I don't really mind being close to them.

It is pretty isolated. IMHO, it's also the worst loop at FtW. Prior to the reno's, the spaces between the sites were virtual gully's that filled with water during the rainy season. Last summer they installed cable & filled inbetween the sites. What piqued my curiosity when they were putting in fill was, they did not install any drainage system. We found out why when we were there in January. The "fill dirt" they used is about 80% sand! Do NOT.....I repeat.....DO NOT try to park your golf cart in the areas between the sites on the 1900 loop. You will need to either push it out, or pull it out with your vehicle. We helped two of our camping neighbors do this when we were there in January. We also had to push our own cart out of the sand.

It looked like a nice loop - the sites were pretty spacious and I don't remember any big gullies or anything. However, it is pretty far removed from everything, including the bus stop. If I had a golf cart I'd consider staying there, but if I didn't and I still wanted some seclusion and the larger sites, I'd choose 1600 or 1700 above 1900.

During our very first stay at FtW back in May 2003, we stayed in the 1600 loop and got a site that backed the main road very close to the bus stop. Very active and we heard were the busses accelerating all day. Back then there was at least some foliage to block some of the sound. Now thats been thinned out everywhere. Anyway we decided to survey the campgrounds and immediately liked 1900 and in particular 1918 just because it is the most remote and far from the action. Also before the foliage was taken away, there was a little private trail in the back of that site where we could walk our dog at the time. He was agressive with other dogs so the pet walk was not good for him. We request 1900 on every trip and usually get 1918 or a site nearby except for one spring break a few years ago when we got 1600 again.

I just read another post that said 1600 - 1900 are all pet loops now. I hope I don't end up next to a barking dog
They have assured me on two occasions that 1900 was not a pet loop. Does anybody in that place have a clue

If you were there a few weeks ago, you wouldn't have seen any gullies. They were filled in last summer. Some sites were so bad that if you stepped of the concrete pad you would have a 2-3 foot drop-off.

I was in touch with one of the Managers at FW earlier this week and was told that the only Loops that would remain Full Hook-Up Loops would be 1600, 1700, 1800 and 1900. Both 1600 and 1800 Loops would be 'Non-Pet' and Loops 1700 and 1900 would be 'Pet' Loops. We have reservations at the Fort for the week of May 10th and hope to be in 1500 Loop (Partial Hook-Up), we also have another week arriving on June 6th that we will need a Full Hook-Up Site and we hope to be assigned the 1600 Loop. We 'Love' Fort Wilderness and have been traveling down from North Carolina and camping at the Fort one or two times a year for the last 30 years! After all of our many trips to the Fort we still get 'Very' excited everytime we are able to return! Fort Wilderness continues to be our favorite place to be / vacation and now we have the pleasure of enjoying the Fort with our Grandchildren!!! I only recently discovered the 'Disboard' site a few weeks ago and it's great to see so many people that 'Love' the Fort as much as we do!!! Thanks, I hope the Loop information is helpful!

Out first trip with our current trailer was in site 1911, we arrived late and that is one dark loop, we call it neptune gulch, for the reason you mentioned, one step off the pad and down you went.

I have 'really' enjoyed reading all of the posts from everyone! The 'Pool Updates' have been "Great" as well as the many other postings from the Disboard members! Logging on to this forum is now one of the first things I do in the mornings and is one of the last things I do at night before I go to bed! I must be hooked!!!

Yep, me too. I like it because it is usually very quiet and one of the last loops to fill up. However, there are several sites in there that still need alot of leveling out; still some with pretty steep dropoffs. Every now and then I like to mix it up and stay in another loop just for a change of scenary but 1900 is my fav.

Years ago I wouldn't stay anywhere else but the 1900 loop. It use to be our favorite pet loop, because it used to have tons of vegitation and you couldn't see the camper next to you. You also had more privacay because the sites had canyons in between the sites with thick brush and undergrowth, but the downside to that was when it rained alot the sites could flood. You also never heard the bus traffic or the water pagent parade and becuase the sites were hard to get into their would be times that we would camp and their would litterly be only four or five of us on the entire loop. It was definitly more like camping than the resort feel we get now that we stay in 800 Loop. I haven't stayed their since they cleared the sites and added dirt to fill the low areas inbetween the sites, but if I was gonna save money I and not do a Premium site I might be willing to try it again.

We stayed there this last trip (Easter) and we sure enjoyed it. Lot's of room between the sites, never crowded in the comfort station, fairly quiet overall, close to the meadows, etc. I'd love to stay in that loop again.

Stayed in site 1935, last July, on our first trip with our new tt to the Fort. Been to the fort many times with popup and motorhome, but never a tt. Took an hour to back it in and yes there was a gully on either side of our site. But, it was quiet and we did not mind it . Although after staying in 800 loop in Feb., my husband decided he like the premium site pads the best. Took only a few minutes to back in.

Are the sites themselves as large as the ones in the 200 loop? My camper is only 20' long but I pull a 12' cargo trailer with the golf cart and other stuff that will need to go on the back of the site. We told the CM this when we called but I thought I would ask. Will this work in 1900?

It should work on most sites in 1900, but keep in mind you may have swails on either side of the site and that the fill dirt inbetween the sites is mostly comprised of sand - which may cause you some trouble.

We liked it to. Had a bit of trouble manuvering the trailer on the sand but we got it in. That is the DD sleeping quaters you know teenage girls have to have privacy.

Question to those of you who know the 1900 loop quite well. We should know the answer ourselves after all these years but don't. WHAT IS THE SITE NUMBER FOR THE SITE NEXT TO THE MEN'S END OF THE 1900 COMFORT STATION?
