The Cast- Myself, turned 32 on the trip, DH 35, Cam 7, Colt almost 4. We've been to WDW quite a few times, but this was our first Christmas trip. My main concern was to take in the holiday events, but in the end we got a lot more done than we had planned.

Friday 12/26
We got up this morning planning to be at MGM by opening (8:00 am) to catch the first show of the Little Mermaid. In getting the kids up, I felt Colt was a little warm. Uh-Oh! Both kids had had a slight cough for most of the trip, but now I was worried. I whipped out the Motrin and fought with Colt to take some. We weren’t sure if we would be able to do the parks today, but we figured we would try to have breakfast and see how he was doing. By the end of breakfast at Captain Cooks, Colt was back to acting normal and he didn’t feel so warm anymore. Yay Motrin! He even started eating while at the bus stop so we decided we would try at least 1 park and see how we did. He seemed ok for the rest of the day so we stuck to our plan.

After opening, we got right in line for LM and waited from 8:00-about 8:15. We talked to a very nice CM while waiting, until an official looking man came out and announced the 8:25 show was cancelled and the first show would be at 8:55. This was a bummer since it seems even when the park opened at 8:00, there wasn’t much for us to do there until 9:00, or at least nothing that we hadn’t done and wanted to do(my kids don’t like thrill rides). :( We could have slept later! So we just sat around MGM until the first show, and finally saw it. We had Fast Passes for the 10:00 show of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, so while we waited for that we stopped in at The Magic Of Disney Animation. We found this interesting and Mushu was really funny. :teeth: Im glad we caught that. It was then on to WWTBAM. My kids have gotten into watching this show lately so we thought they would get a kick out of this. They did. We did the Backlot Tour, minus the first film sequence part. They announced they wouldn’t be doing that due to inclement weather. It was a beautiful day out, but a little chilly, so Im guessing the cold is the reason. We then checked out the Haunted Mansion Movie set which was neat. I can’t wait to see the movie now. We also had to go to the Indiana Jones gift shop to get toys for the kids.

It was 11:30 and we were ready for lunch. My original plan was to try out Beaches & Cream today, but we had had such a great meal at ESPN earlier in the week, we decided to go back there again. So we took the boat to the Boardwalk, had lunch, and then walked to Epcot.

We had a few things to finish up here so we started off with the Universe of Energy. We were told there was a 10 minute wait but we waited closer to 20 minutes. Then we went in and saw the preshow. After that, the side doors opened and we were told the ride wasn’t working. We were not having good luck today. Instead we went over to the Wonders Of Life and caught Cranium Command. This show always cracks me up. We went and explored Innoventions (the kids love making paper here) before trying for Universe of Energy again. We waited about 5 minutes this time, and as the preshow was almost over I saw those side doors open again. :earseek: ACK! I grabbed the kids and said "run", before we got caught in the crowd again. Once again the ride wasn’t working. We never did get to see that one on this trip. We went on Space Ship Earth with a 5-10 minute wait, then we went to take a picture of a Leave a Legacy tile for some friends. By now we had finished just about everything we wanted to do at Epcot (except UoE, and it was now officially down), and it was still fairly early. The kids wanted a snack so we got them ice creams. I thought of getting one but I remembered those funnel cakes in America. Was it worth the walk back there? :scratchin... ::yes:: We strolled around World Showcase and while DH got the funnel cakes, the kids and I went and watched some drummers in Japan. They were very good. We then had a long walk back to catch the monorail.

This was planned to be a relaxing night for us, and it did turn out that way. We were back at our room by 5:30. I went and threw in a load of laundry before meeting the boys in the Great Ceremonial House for the Torch Lighting Ceremony which was at 6:00. I should mention here that this is the first trip I have ever done laundry. I’m usually totally against it, but since we were there for 10 days this time and needed winter clothes, summer clothes, and in between clothes, I had to do some. I found out it wasn’t too bad doing it. Ok, back to the fun parts.

We saw the torch lighting ceremony which is really neat. This was the second time we have caught this and I still think it’s amazing. How does he do that with the fire? Yikes! DH & the kids went to Captain Cooks for dinner and then to play in the arcade. That funnel cake was my dinner, and I had to finish the laundry. I then went back to the room to do my nails. That’s another thing I don’t usually do on vacation but on a 10 day trip, I had to. I also did some plan juggling for tomorrow since we had planned to be back at AK in the morning and we pretty much had finished up there.

it sounds like you guys had a great week. we are thinking maybe next year going after xmas week end to catch the xmas lights since we have never been this time before. We had friends from Win.MA. down onthe 28the, they had a great time , said of course it was crowded. She said they saw the fire works from outside their room am PC. im checking out prices now for middle of july or end of Aug trip if we dont go in Dec. We might also try out AKL a few days, since my husband is dying to stay there, and also Poly for a few.

I'm glad that your son didn't turn out to be sick. Thanks for another great installment, can't wait to read more!

Hi neighbor in Woburn! We have gone the last week in August before and its been wonderful with low crowds. This year since our APs expire then, we are going in mid July. Maybe we will see you.

Your welcome, IloveDMB! Im glad you are enjoying this. :D

Keep typing Katie!!!! I leave in 10 short days, and I am 'semi planning' from parts of your itinerary. C'mon girlie, I need the rest!!!! :bounce: ::yes:: :wave2: :hyper: :teeth:

LOL, Debbie!
Ill definitely have it done by next weekend. Only 3 more days, but things are getting busy here. :D

The torch lighting is at 6:00pm. The "prince" arrives in the GCH, then him and the woman who does the drum, leads everyone outside to that front walkway of the Poly. I believe it is only done Tuesday-Saturday.
