as we speak:scared1:

Oh I cant belive this. My upstairs tenants like to turn their heat way down when they go out, all the pipes froze upstairs, my living room ceilings were water stained in a matter of minutes and water was running from my light switches!

Honestly I dont think I can take many more winters here:headache::headache: :headache: :headache

I HATE THE WINTER:

what a bunch of knuckleheads
not the time to be turning the heat down
good luck getting that all cleaned up

Yikes!! Hopefully your insurance will cover the damage!
Maybe your upstairs tenants will learn a lesson from this too!

That really stinks. Last year a friend of mine left notes for her tenants reminding them to let the cold water drip so the pipes don't freeze. Her upstairs tenant put his water on full blast and left it that way all day. She came home to a flood through her ceiling, driping down the chandelier and warping her wood floor. Wicked smart tenant says "Oh I thought the note said "Leave the water running."

I feel for you. Some people LOVE the cold......I detest it so I'll be moving with ya!

Good luck drying out. Always a drag when those pipes freeze like that. :(

Sorry to hear about your pipes.
Last year our pipes froze but thank God they did not bust. This happened last year when I was in the hospital after having DD. (which will be 1 yr on the 20th :teeth: ) DH had to open all the cabinets and get portable heaters going. Since then we don't take any chances so every night we open all the cabinets in the kitchen and let the water run a little.
Hope things turn out for the best for you.

With my luck, if I moved to Florida, the temps would stay 10 degrees 12 months of the year.

Sorry about your pipes.:(

Oh man what a mess that would be. Good luck and hopefully it will warm up for you soon.

YIKE! I sure hope your insurance covers the damages

Thanks guys for all the well wishes. When I got up this AM and went to look at my livingroom ceiling I wanted to scream/cry. I could smell the wet plaster last night, the entire thing is yellow.

DH said it was so bad it actually came out through the outside of the house and was dripping through the siding.

And to make matters worse, I went down to throw in another load of laundry last night, they had use the washing machine drain to funnel the water out, and yes you guessed it, the didnt put back the washer hose and I flooded my laundry room. Still washing wet towels from the rug as we speak:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: .

I need a vacation

I feel your pain...

OMG--- This weekend, we put Monty the dog in the kennel he will be staying at for 9 nights while we're away. (We want him to get used to spending nights away from us before leaving him for so long because he is a very clingy dog who cries when we aren't holding him...)

So we pulled up last night around 6 pm to pick him up after his weekend away and our hearts nearly stopped when in front of the kennel there is a group of policemen, several police cars with their lights on, and then...2 firetrucks pull up.

Terrified of what may have happened, we look around for a kennel employee. We finally find the poor girl shivering in the cold and she tells us that moments before, a pipe burst in the hallway and there is water everywhere...

Oh the relief...

We were so scared that a fire had broken out in the kennel. In the end we actually felt even more secure about leaving Monty there because of how quickly the emergency team showed up (literally seconds after the employee called them).

But oh the nerves...

and all because of dumb old FREEZING weather breaking a pipe...

I hate winter.
