We keep missing the Animation Class. Maddie is dying to do it though. I think Tink is one of the more difficult characters I've seen done there.

I agree, it was a pretty good score. Can't really complain too much about it.

Ok I finally catch up on this TR only to find out there is another?! I now have something to do on my day off today! This past February I finally started getting best in the vehicle when my DS was not in the car with me Now in October I will get it every time since he's not going .

I agree, the GMR does need some CM overhaul. Some kind sound pretty boring. I had a guy, once, who it was one of his first days on the job. He was sweating bullets and his voice was cracking and he actually almost cried when he forget one of his lines. While that was sort of sad to watch, and least he had a little life in him!


I think you all did a good job on Tinkerbell. She seems like she would be a tough character to draw.



You should still be proud of that TSMM score! That's impressive! It's not your fault there was most likely a local visiting that day, racking up the high scores.

I love the Great Movie Ride for the nostalgia, but yes it could definitely use an update!
Love the CM interaction story, the Disney difference right there in the friendly CMs!

That is EXACTLY why I lost interest! Everything was switching to computer animation, and I just did not have an interest in it!

Hi everyone!

So this isn't a TR update, but rather some of my artwork photos because some had mentioned that they wanted to see them. And if you didn't want to see them....well....look away.

A little back story just so everyone understands.

I've never been a very good original artist. I've always been more of a copyist, and believe me, in the art and animation world, you would be no where without a good copyist, or someone that can simply reproduce things. So, I knew even though I wasn't great at creating characters, I could have some kind of job.

I drew all of the time growing up, and explored different mediums. Mostly, I stuck with graphite, colored pencils, and felt tip markers. That's because I dealt a lot with comic and animation.

I did begin to go to college for art. That's a surefire way for someone to break your spirit, let me tell you. In my first basic drawing class, my art teacher said that art is not talent, and that anyone can do it. As someone who really prided myself on my work, you could totally find that offensive. Yes, I do believe that anyone can learn fundamentals. But those out there who just have it. They just have it. And he disagreed with that completely.

Let's just say, I almost allowed this man to break my spirit. He tore me apart in this class. Criticized my work all of the time, would actually come and draw on my paper (dude....you NEVER do that to an artist), just broke me down. Then, he gave me a C for the class overall. The same grade that he gave someone who had never picked up a pencil in their life. I don't know if he was trying to teach me a lesson. I'll never understand I guess. I'm not cocky. Really, I'm not at all. I didn't go into this class thinking that I knew everything. Obviously I knew I didn't, because I was taking a class. To add insult to injury, after he gave me my final grade, he lost the final that I had spent 70 hours of my life on. 70 hours of workshop in front of this still life, putting my life into it....and he can't find it. He didn't even offer me an apology.

I was young and stupid. In retrospect, I should have taken it up with the school, but I didn't.

I pressed on after that, but I'm not going to lie, I was broken a little. I thought I was never going to be good enough to do this. I still continued on this path though for another year. Color and Design, Basic Drawing II, Art History, I pressed on. Then I had to take a computer design course. And I hated it. I saw the landscape in front of me though. I saw the change on the horizon. Computers were the next thing. And I didn't like working with them. I liked working with my hands.

So, I changed my major. Don't worry everyone, it's all worked out for the best. Oddly enough, that second major didn't even pan out (I changed it to dance, which was also a love of mine), but we won't even discuss that now. Another day everyone...another day.

That said, here's what I could scrounge up from my portfolio. The first series of drawings were done by me between the ages of 13 and 15. I love comics, like X-Men, Disney Animation obviously, Calvin and Hobbes, and Archie. So, I picked my favorites from those. I freehand everything, which was always a question people had for me growing up. "Oh, did you trace that?" "Um....NO!"

Anyone familiar with X-Men knows this is Rogue. She happens to be my absolute favorite X-Men character ever, so I drew her a lot.



Always a Disney girl. Pocahontas.

This is Velocity, which I believe was a Marvel character. I don't think her comic books lasted long.



I ADORE Calvin and Hobbes.

Betty was my favorite Archie character.

The rest of what I could find were from some of my college drawing classes, so I was 18 when these were done. They're still life drawings, and then we move into having to do copies of major pieces of artwork.

This is one of my favorite things that I ever did in color and design. We had to take a famous painting, lay it on a light board, and simply trace out shapes and shades from the image. From that, we could shade in the image however we wanted to. I loved how it turned out.



That's all I have for now. Thanks so much for the interest shown in my work. I had to dust some stuff off to find it, but it felt nice to pull it out and take a look at it. I think I am going to dust off my pencils and start doing this again.

I'll be doing an update soon! I have a busy weekend ahead of me with a bachelorette party, so hopefully I'll update again by Sunday. Thanks guys!

This is something else we have in common! (I'll send you a invite on FB to my art page in a bit.) You should absolutely pick it up again! Like you, I grew up enjoying art. My art teacher in high school wanted me to go into a career in art. I spent my summers at art programs too. But I didn't feel like I could have a career in art unless I became a teacher and I did not want to be a teacher so I went in a different direction.

Last November I decided to start pursuing a career in art (mainly canvas art) and now sell paintings in a little shop in my town. I really, really want to take some art classes to brush up on some skills and learn new stuff too. I hope to do that soon.

So, I definitely think you should bring your artistic skills back to life. It's a part of YOU and will feel so good to express that part of you again.

OK, I'm going to start with your backstory first because your first art teacher kinda made me angry. No scratch that... absolutely made me angry. I despise when teachers try to break the spirit of students who have a genuine passion for something.

WOW, to think you drew those at such a young age!! That's magnificent Danielle.

Your work is beautiful Dani, really beautiful. Please don't ever stop. We have so much in common in that regard. I love hearing stories like this of people who do accounting/finance for a living. There's a stigma attached to that, and I think people would be surprised to learn that an accountant created that. I, however, would not. No, I can't draw a straight line with a ruler, but I do have a creative passion, be it music, or video, or yes, writing. Don't ever give up on something you love to do, ESPECIALLY, when you're so darn good at it!!!

Beautiful work. I am sorry you had a professor that was such a &*%$. I can understand, to a point, constructive criticism. I don't understand being downright rude and disrespectful. Sounds like he had some personal challenges himself. And to lose a project is totally unacceptable. Totally. I would be curious to see how that particular instructor gets rated on "Rate My Professor". Just remember - what goes around comes around. It's also possible that he was treated like that and feels the need to just pass it on.

Any way - I do believe some people just "have it", like you said. It's that little extra edge. That intangible that you can't quite put your finger on. The same goes for music. People can learn all the technicals parts of performing music, but have "musicality" is a gift.
