That Foo's Boo Is Incredible!!! - Jan 14 TR *THE END 7/19 Pg. 51*

Day 7 - Thursday January 23, 2014 continued:

Last we left off, we had just finished up on VOTLM, and we actually had an Ariel with a decent singing voice. Miracles really do happen! Woo hoo! As commented before, that show really is made or broken by the person who plays Ariel. If she doesn't sing well, it's all over....

After that, we headed to the most thrilling attraction in all of Hollywood Studios.

The Great Movie Ride!! While I do think that this ride needs to be updated, I get my main joy from riding and seeing how the tour guide is. I feel that they've been a bit lax on their hiring requirements for the tour guides, because they're just so......wooden.

We did meet a nice CM in line for the ride though. He commented on my shirt and how much he liked it. He also liked Yeti too, and proceeded to tell me how he collected the plushie key chains. He asked me where I got Yeti. I told him that to my knowledge the only place to get Yeti is at the Animal Kingdom, so he should make sure to get over there to get one for himself.

This interaction is one of the reasons that I love Disney. This was an individual with disabilities, and I applaud Disney for their hiring methods. He was sweeter and more genuine than most CM's you meet on a normal day. It was really nice chatting with him while we were in line. He also made sure to tell me that he would make sure to get to the Animal Kingdom to get himself a Yeti. I told him that was a good idea because Yeti is the coolest ever.

Soon, we were on the ride and heading in.

I'll put you out of your misery at this point. We got the gangster scene. As usual.

I figured it was an appropriate time for a Danielle and Momma selfie.

Unless you're fixin' to get yourself shot!

Snakes. Why's it gotta be snakes?

Aaaaahhhh!!! Yeti selfie!!!!

My favorite part of this ride is always the movie montage.

After our ride, I wanted to do something that I had never done.

I know. In all of my Disney trips through the years (over 30), I had never ever done this.

I think it's because I hold myself up to impossibly high standards. See, I wanted to be an Animator for Disney back in the day. And I worked hard at it. I'm a pretty good copyist, but not good on the original character front. So, it just never came to fruition. Add that to the fact that I really don't like it when they tell you in art class to draw things like envelopes. No for real. Envelopes.

However, I am WAY out of practice. Art is just like anything else. You have to stay in practice. Now, it's not hard to get back on track, but you gotta put in effort.

I'm also going to preface this whole series of pictures by saying that I did not listen to the artist. Because apparently I thought I knew better. Clearly I did not.

(On a side note, if anyone ever wants to see any of my art from prior years, let me know, and I'll take pictures).

So where we were heading? The Animation Academy.

The selection was Tinkerbell. I couldn't complain with that selection. And seeing as though Pop loves Tinkerbell, he was pretty happy.

My picture turned out absolutely pitiful. Shows you how out of practice I really am.

Pop's picture.

Mom's.

I'd do it again though. And it makes me think that I really need to just start drawing again, for the pure joy of drawing. Because this is how I felt when I left.

Anyway! Pity party aside, it was still fun and I'd totally do it again. There was a girl there that appeared to be a local that totally seemed like she went to the class all of the time. She carried a portfolio around and everything.

Dude, that's dedication.

Wanna talk more about dedication? That would be my love of Toy Story Mania. If I lived in Florida, I would probably make a pilgrimage to DHS on a regular basis just so I could ride TSM. And become the ultimate crazy score getter.

Luckily for me, my crazy obsession could be satiated, because we had a FP for it at that moment.

Yay me! Something I don't suck at!!!

Um, yeah they are!

Yeti totally tried to convince me that he should be the one scoring the points. Listen, we all know that's not going to end well, so sit down and just enjoy the ride!

I'm going to tell you a story. This is the story about how one girl, named Danielle, came so close to one of her goals in life. Only to have that goal ripped from her hands.....

This is her story.

The stars were all in alignment. Mom and I had discussed the Easter Eggs that I required her to hit. Yes, requirement is the correct word, because if you can't work with me to unlock the easter eggs, you're not allowed in my TSM vehicle. You think I joke?

Easter Eggs agreed upon, I sat in my seat and discovered something glorious. My trigger was super light. Pulling that rope required virtually no effort at all. I knew. Today was the day.

I was in full on beast mode. Unlocking Easter Eggs left and right. Man, it was going swimmingly! I could not be happier. Mom was so epically helpful. We were great. I saw it. I saw the light. And this was the result of my hard work.

I scored, the highest score I've ever gotten on TSM.

I was elated, happy, beyond ecstatic. Until I saw this.

You don't see it? Oh yes, I'm best in vehicle. But I normally am. (*cough* egomaniac *cough*).

But I was 4,500 from best today. A feat I had never performed. Something I had never achieved. And it was right there. A measly 4,500 points away. And it slipped out of my man hands.

Let's just say this is how I was feeling about myself at that moment.

So close, yet so far away. I still haven't come close to that point.

I do not have such lofty aspirations of being in the 400,000's. Yes, I would like to be, but I know that it's gonna take some time.

But I was there. I was right there. And just fell short of the finish line.

I stopped my 5k at mile 3.
I stopped my 10k at mile 6.
I stopped my 1/2 marathon at mile 13.

I'm teasing! My world wasn't completely over. Only for that moment. And then I decided that only food would satisfy my broken soul.

Up next: Food!

Your Tink is very cute, I would imagine she's pretty hard to draw. I come out of that class laughing at how badly I've drawn :rotfl2:

OMG sooooo close to getting the top score, you'll just have to ride it more often :thumbsup2

Your Tink might not be symmetrical, but it has a cute little grin. I've wanted to try the drawing class but it seems like the timing is never right. Maybe next time.

You're definitely right about the Ariel; she needs a good singing voice that sounds similar to Jodi Benson. A hard act to follow. Your Tink was way better than mine would've been. And I would like to see some of your drawings. Also I love that you used a Gif from the Lego Movie! Everything is awesome!

That sounds like an awesome CM encounter :thumbsup2 Disney rules.

The Animation Academy is a Courtneybelle family favorite. My mom and sister go multiple times per trip.

You are too legit to quit with TSM. Consider me impressed. I know one day you will meet your goal and be the best in THE WORLD at Toy Story Mania.

Ahhh I love CM's asking guests for advice. And I so agree, I too adore that Disney makes sure to hire CM's with disabilities, especially in a guest facing capacity. There's a gentleman over at FOTLK (when it was in Minnie-Mickey anyway) who's in a wheelchair, and he couldn't be more lovely.

HA, perfect place for a Team America reference.

Don't feel bad Danielle. I haven't done the animation class either. Every trip (EVERY trip), I plan to, yet still nada.

God you make me look like I wasn't even on Toy Story with that score. My goal, my only goal, is to break 200K. That's it. I'd be happy. You were still best for the hour. DO NOT under-value that accomplishment!!! :yay:

She actually isn't super complicated to draw, but I'm notorious for going ahead and not listening. Hence why she didn't look as good as she could have. :rotfl2:

I completely agree! I will just have to make sure I get on it more often.

At least I nailed the grin, right?

The timing ended up perfect for this one, which is why we decided to head in. I was glad we did, it was fun.

That is so true. It just needs to sound like Ariel!

I love the Lego Movie! Everything is awesome! And now I just start bobbing my head.

I'll see what I can scrounge up and post some shots. :thumbsup2

Disney truly does rule.

It's a lot of fun! I definitely want to do it more often.

I totally started singing the 2 Legit 2 Quit song when you said that (oh yes...I totally did type the title that way). Hahahaha. One day. One day I will get there.

:rotfl: I don't know whether to laugh at you or cry with you! I'll go with laughing. But it sort of reminds me how I felt when I flunked my AI audition!

Very impressive score. Remind me NEVER to go on TSM with you. I'm lucky to break 100,000. No. Seriously. :rolleyes1

I had no idea you wanted to be an artist. That is so super cool and I definitely believe you should get back into it. Hey, I didn't play music for YEARS and when I got back into it it was more rewarding than I ever remember.

So bring on the pics of your artwork. You should definitely post some!

Hahahaha. Laughing is perfectly acceptable in this case.

I've wanted to try AI, but I'm terrified of it!

See, now you can't say that, because I'll totally make you go on TSM with me. :bitelip:

Yup, I did want to be an artist. I'd been drawing since I was very young and even went to college for it. I just really didn't enjoy the classes and changed in the end. You know, life and all.

I hit my user CP and said I would start with the first thread there that I'm subscribed to. And whose should it be? My friend, Danielle.

Smart move on going from AK to DHS with the chillier weather (having been on EE last week, I see how cold it could it be with chilly weather). We were going to hit Mermaid but ended up doing American Idol instead. I think Mark and I will make an attempt to do it in September. You are right about whoever is performing as Ariel as making or breaking the show.

I like the Great Movie Ride...especially the end, but it really needs an update.

I love your Tinkerbell drawing. We never got to that either as Cayley is such a perfectionist that she would have been in tears.

Oooh...food. Where do you go I wonder?

Oh, wow, so close to the daily record on TSM!

Maybe this is why there is always such a long line there - otherwise you'd just want to ride it over and over to break the record.

I'm terrible at drawing, but I guess we are both in the club of majoring in something artistic in college (TV/Film production for me) and ending up in accounting. :teacher:

Awesome score!!!!! I did catch the great score and then the :faint: on how close the High for the day was.
I am a pretty consistent 160,000-180,000 I need to figure out how to break out of that and break 200,000.

Curious on the food. Food at DHS is hard sometimes.

You're being too hard on yourself, I think your Tink is pretty good!

Food makes everything all better!!

Ahahah your updates are seriously perfection!

I STILL haven't done the animation academy! I suggested it to Mom in Sept & she said "i'm crap at that stuff, no" so we skipped it :lmao: November?!!? Lol.

Yay for TSM!! Jenna & I unlocked some easter eggs I hadn't seen on the ride before so that was awesome!! We actually both did pretty well!!

Hi everyone!

I've tried to PM everyone, but if I missed you, accept my apologies. But here is a link to my new TR. Come on down!!!

They Don't Eat Hash Browns in Princessland - May '14 TR

YAY!! :banana::banana::banana:

I LOVE :lovestruc the selfie of you and your Mom on The Great Movie Ride!

Artistic and an accountant?! Cool combo! Post some pics in the next update!

I can't relate too much with your TSM sadness, as I don't usually get even best in vehicle!!

I love food! Can't wait to see the next update!

You may not have gotten the day's best score but yours was pretty great!

We keep missing the Animation Class. Maddie is dying to do it though. I think Tink is one of the more difficult characters I've seen done there.

It was providence I tell you! :goodvibes

EE could definitely be a lot if it's cold outside. I've been on it when it was cold, and it's not pleasant.

I agree, the Great Movie Ride definitely needs an update. But I still like it.

I'm a bit of a perfectionist myself. It's gotten better as an adult, but as a child, I was pretty bad. I could totally see why you wouldn't want to do it with Cayley. :rotfl2:

I know! So close, yet so far!

I was an art major and then a dance major. And then got an Accounting degree. :rotfl2:

Awesome score!!!!! I did catch the great score and then the :faint: on how close the High for the day was.

I know! It was so close!

I'm typically over 200,000, it just depends really on how successful I am at unlocking the easter eggs.

I agree, food at DHS is difficult. But, give me a cupcake and I'm happy. :lmao:
