Thanksgiving Week Dilemmas- need advice please

We are currently booked for BWI for the week after Thanksgiving (checking in on Sunday after). But, we will be in town visiting relatives prior to our WDW trip. Thinking about starting our vacation early and going the Friday/Saturday after Thanksgiving and staying at a Moderate.

- How are the crowds? Is park touring even manageable? Are we crazy for doing this?
- Can I use my park hopper tickets purchased with the FD before we check into BWI while we are at another hotel or do I have to purchase separate tickets? We plan on bridging them to an AP (first time doing this- so confused) during our stay.

I know early December is popular with DVC, so it might be crowded but I'm not positive about that.

If you booked a package with tickets then your tickets are tied to the package. You won't get them until you check in.

Actually, you CAN pick up your tickets early. It used to be three days before package began, but I think it is even more than that now. Your dining won't start until you check in to your original resort, but tickets can be had before.
