Thanksgiving week, 7 month mark booking 2br

I own at blt and tried to book a 2br at 10 months out, but could only get the last 2 nights with a wait list for the rest. What's the likelihood the waitlist will come through or my being able to book something else at 7 months? I called today and they have a lake view for 30 more points. Not sure I want to spend 30 more points. Does everyone walk their reservations? Is that something I should consider for thanksgiving week? Just worried we aren't going to be able to get anything. I'd take wilderness lodge if that comes available or blt standard view. Just wondering if I should book the lake view to be sure we get something.

If you really want to go that week, book a room now so you have something. If your wait list comes through you will have the extra points. If you change to a new resort at 7 months, you will also have the extra points.

Walking only makes sense before your 11 month window opens. Walking at 7 months doesn't work because an owner of that DVC resort could still jump ahead of you for a reservation. A very small number of people walk a reservation (or need to) IMHO.

You are saying that standard view wasn't available at 10 months- which is not unusual many times it is not available at 11 months later in the day. I would guess your chnces of a waitlist coming through are about 20%- most people who book standard are not waiting for something else- they bought BLT to stay there and choose standard to stretch their points. When I called for a studio that week at 10 months and 25 days standard wasn't available and I got about the last MK room.

I would say if you want to stay anywhere other than SSR or OKW than book the lakeview- you have a possibility of getting something else but not a high likelyhood from what I have watched.
