Thanksgiving Day

How crowded is MK on Thanksgiving Day?

I've gone with my family for the week leading up to and through Thanksgiving in '07, '09, '10, and '11. After taking off last year we'll be headed back this year. It's been our experience that for the 1st three trips the Sunday, Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving were very bearable as far as crowds but that a significant increase in patrons occur that Wed/the day before Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving day. On a whole though, we found our last trip in 2011 to be much more crowded even during the days leading up to the holiday. Even so, it's become one of our favorite times to frequent with holiday decorations getting underway; Cinderella's Castle never looks more beautiful IMO then when adorned with holiday lights. We fast pass when we can. I have a friend who is a DVC member who occasionally travels the week after Thanksgiving and cites virtually no crowds; but she has no children. We have 2 so we must go with as few days of school missed as possible.

We have gone pretty much every week of December and the first few of November, just not Thanksgiving Day. It would be for one day prior to our cruise, just trying to decide whether to spend the money. We were there over Christmas one year and rode 4 things.....ugh

From what I recall, Thanksgiving Day (at MK, Epcot and Hollywood Studios - we park hop) is similarly busy with very lengthy weight times (120 min for Space Mountain etc, even later in the evening). My perspective may be different from other vacationers though as I travel with a child with a disability and have always had a Guest Assistance Card in the past, which admittedly, reduced most of our wait times. I understand that policy has changed though so we shall see how this trip compares.

I've never been to AK on Thanksgiving Day - maybe that or another park is typically less busy? Or maybe hang out at Downtown for the day which costs nothing (for admission) but still has that Disney feel. Enjoy the cruise, that's next on my Disney bucket list!

Definitely at this point with only a few replies think I will stick with original plan. Enjoy our stay CR with a Tower BLV and go to Downtown Disney.
