Thanksgiving Cooking Withdrawls - Anyone else??

This year we are going to 2 homes for Thanksgiving - not doing anything here.
At first, I was really happy about it - I don't have to kill myself cooking at 6am (Acutally, I'm going to play tennis at 9am that day!), and I don't have to spend all that $$$$ buying all the food. But here I am, watching Food Network, and all they are doing is Thanksgiving food - and I'm really starting to get upset about the fact that I don't get to cook - not to mention all the leftovers!!! I really love to cook, and I'm getting all of these great recipies watching this that I can't use!!! The 2 homes that were going to are allowing me to bring an appetizer, but thats boring, plus its so hard because I don't want to have to cook something over anyones house, KWIM?

I guess I just have to look forward to Christmas breakfast here - I'll just have to get extra creative!!!!

So - Anyone else feel this way?

I would have liked to cook Thanksgiving Dinner here at DD's (mostly because I love the leftovers - LOL), but they're going to DD's IL's, so I'm kind of kicking around the idea of doing a turkey and all of the trimmings the weekend after Christmas..:goodvibes

I just decided that we are doing Christmas dinner - withdrawl releaved!!!! NICE!! I think I'll make Yorkshire Pudding!!

I'm going out for Thanksgiving but I'm cooking a Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday for my children and me - we'll probably do just a turkety breast, but I plan on having the full menu. We love that food and especially leftovers!!!

I really, really wanted to fix Thanksgiving dinner. We aren't making the out of state trip to be w/ family.

DH, and my older daughter have completely ruined it for me. DH feels he is "helping" me by continuously saying he doesn't want me to go all out. I told him I really wanted to cook, but he keeps going--even to the point of refusing to go to the grocery w/ me, which is part of our Saturday routine.

My DD, doesn't want to do anything, because she can't go to Ohio and be w/ family.

They are getting their way. I'm not cooking. And I've told them we are definitely not going OUT to eat, when I could cook 3 times as much for 1/2 the cost. Looks like pot pies at our house on Thurs.

Yes I know I'm being petty. But at this point I've cried for 2 days over it, and am completely through w/ it.

Yeah - I have been hosting TDay at my house for years, and most of the time, we have enough left-overs for people to take. I think one of my sisters-in-law cooks a turkey on the weekend after Thanksgiving.

Ohio -just cook it anyway
I am sure they will come round when they smell it cooking

ooohweeee - I'd say "forget them!" I'm cooking! It would be fun to scale down to cook for just a few....I'd see it as a challenge. Don't let them take away your fun!

This year I will be cooking Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow, as DH and I will be on the road on Thanksgiving day. Tomorrow is also my DD's birthday (she was born on Thanksgiving day), so we will kill two birds with one stone.
(pun intended)

Both my DD's have inlaws to see Thursday, so this will help them out.
The only one upset about not being together on Thursday is my DH.
He doesn't take well to changes when it comes to holidays.

As for myself, I don't mind cooking the big meal, but to tell the truth when the day comes that I am a relative bringing one dish, it will be a day I look forward too.

Yes we are not having Thanksgiving at my house and I want to cook. So I am cooking on Saturday so I have my own leftovers. YUM!:goodvibes

Bake cookies.

Send them to me.

Everyone wins!

Just ignore them and cook. Go shopping alone - I personally prefer to. They'll eat it, that is if you decide to share.

My mother is doing Thanksgiving this year, and I sorta feel that way too. So yesterday when I did my big grocery shopping I got a turkey anyhow (it only cost me $3 because of the store's promotion) and stuck it in the freezer. I'll do it sometime this winter when I'm in the mood for serious comfort food and crazy leftovers.

I love having turkey leftovers, but due to my wacky work schedule, and DH's as well, we decided to skip cooking Thanksgiving. We also now have decided to skip going out for dinner on Thanksgiving..We are going to Stonewood Grille on Wednesday evening for a nice dinner out, as we can eat cheaper there as the Thanksgiving buffets are just to much..

We go to DSil's and while I love her to pieces, cooking is not her forte. We go and grin and bear it and then on Fri, I make "Thanksgiving 2: The Sequel"! :rotfl:

There are only three of us, so I make a scaled down version but it is tasty good and then we can eat left overs all weekend.

Christmas Eve is here and I will be cooking for 30 so a small scale turkey dinner for Fri suits us just fine!
