Hi there!

I read previously that we should receive something in the mail regarding having Thanksgiving dinner delivered to our room at HH, but does anyone know how early these order forms are mailed out and how soon they need to be returned? We haven't received one yet ( I know we're still about 6 weeks away) but we don't know if we'll have 3 or 5 people in our 2 BR unit so we may need to wait until plans firm up before we order to make sure we don't order too much. Anyone done this in the past and have some info?

Thanks,
PJ

It will probably be mailed out the last week of October or the first week of November. I don't know exactly when they need to have the forms returned, because we've never ordered the meal from the resort...

In the past the orders were not done by the number of people. It was a choice between roast turkey and sides or deep-fried turkey with sides. I believe last year, they offered the option of 1/2 turkey for smaller families.

I'd be willing to bet that if you found out your party was larger or smaller than your originally thought, they'd make the change for you with just a few days' notice. ;)

Thanks for the help! Have you cooked your own Thanksgiving dinner in the past since you didn't use this service or are there good restaurants for Thanksgiving dinner?

It seems to me the form had to be returned by early/mid-Novemberish. How's that for exact?? Two years ago they let us get a whole turkey and just smaller portions for the side dishes at half the price. Honestly, it was way too much turkey and not enough sides! Last year I "cooked" which was interesting since we were in a studio. This year we have a 1 bedroom so I'm going all out with a "real' home-cooked meal.

You could get a ham, fried turkey -- which is sooooo good, or a regular roasted turkey. You also had mashed pots, dressing, choice of pie, rolls, butter, and cranberries.

We considered eating out last year but there wasn't an abundance of places open. Call the resort and they can give you ideas. Then, come back here and ask Disneyaholic if the place you chose is a good one! She'll know! She knows everything about HH!! ::yes::

See you there!

Thanks Kristen...

I WISH! LOL. We are just lucky enough to be able to take a few trips there a year and try to go to someplace new each trip. We also have a few good resources there to point us in the right direction.

OMG -- I have to stop talking about this or I'll never be able to wait till Thanksgiving to get there!!

We'll be at HHI for Thanksgiving. Last year we ate at Julep's Restaurant. Everyone liked it so much we have reservations for this year. We made reservations for 7 PM because we want to make it to the Turkey Bowl.Game. Last year we had to leave the game early to go shower and change for dinner. We all had such a good time at the game we want to make sure this year we stay for the whole event.

A couple of years ago we ordered in advance from Piggly Wiggly. You get similar choices to what the resort offers - sides, turkey, ham etc. The sides were ordinary but good, the turkey was very good - nicely cooked. Too much food though! We were able to pick it up that morning at the store and it was pretty easy to just pick up all the extras as well, such as a bottle of wine, breads, desserts. We enjoyed everything. The cost was about half of what the resort was selling, but there may have been more food from the resort package. I preferred to order from PW as that way we could pick it up early and not have to be 'home' to receive it.

This year, I'm not sure what we'll do yet, other then that I'm not cooking, except for reheating! We may go with the resort package, depending on what is offered or do a restaurant or store package.
